The fact is they are giving him money for bids to sign players he wants...even if some of those bids are short of what is needed.

“It was for between three and four million pounds, which is laughable really when you consider we are talking about the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.”

Manchester City offer for Given is an insult say United

Same tactics all around for City it seems..

Find it hard to get excited over a player who hasn't played all season - hardly match-fit is he ?

French international...good age...Monaco and Marseille on his CV.

If he hadn't been in dispute with the coach you would not have got near him.

Could be a shrewd deal if he is fit.

Givet sounds like a good move, Looking forward to the name tomorrow. I just pray we are going to get a right winger in.

Is there a hold up in the Beattie move to Stoke, wondered if he was waiting to see if Roque go's and he could get his move back to Rovers?

I know this isn't Rovers related, but doe's Brady normally reveal transfer information on her Sun column

Hot off the press, Kris Boyd’s agent has been back in touch . . . watch this space.

Karen Brady's Brum diary.

RIGHT BACK TARGET - naming him tomorrow...hopefully worth the wait.

So you rate him?

Why are Man city pussy footing around? Is their tactic truly to bid the correct amounts at the last minute and consequently do-over several rivals?

We either need to cover our ass (sort out a transfer on the basis of RSC sale), or draw a line.

It's competition and cover for Warnock and Nelsen...good idea if you ask me. Olsson is not ready for this level yet.

M'Bami is a bit too small for the Premier. He has been offered around a lot and nobody took an interest.

sorry Nicko, something doesn`t seem quite right here to me - competition for places is great, but why would a French International, who has youth and some good clubs on his CV, want to come to Rovers, 2nd from bottom in the Premier League to sit on the bench as cover. If he has French National Team ambitions then surely he will want to command a first team spot ?

Maybe Sam has a crazy plan to slot him in next to Nelsen and use the Samba machine as a defensive midfielder

I would imagine Givet thinks he can force his way into the team. Warnock could move into midfield - and to be honest at times this season he has not looked like the left back he was.

If we get Givet, I guess that rules out Ben Haim completely.

Ben Haim's wages and fee and desire to play for Spurs is not helping much...he would have been seen as a right-sider.

nicko is this right back any good??

He is a talented player, it's just whether he is seen as a strong enough defender because he can definitely attack. Should know more after today.

Leroy Lita could be moving after all. A club agreed a £1 million fee this morning. Hoping that keeps for the morning paper...

BELLAMY - the Man City bid is real and the figures as accurate as I can manage...remember there are other clubs after him so City HAVE to be sensible on this one...unlike Roque where they are the only bidders at the level they came in at.

DELPH - Fulham want him, but only if they get a buyer for Bullard.

LITA - wants to see out season and be a free agent...all the best.

DEFOUR - Standard Liege want £18 million, smashing little player but not THAT good.

GIVET - news is good...due in shortly.

RIGHT BACK TARGET - naming him tomorrow...hopefully worth the wait.

It's a shame we're in the state we are, Delph is definitely one for the future. I'd like to see him at Ewood but our position means we can't build for the future only this season.

I'd like to see a good defensive fullback brought in. If we want to go with an attacking right back we've got Emmo.

Which is why they are looking at his defensive qualities. And anyway, with Emerton in front of him as things stand (although not if we bring in the right midfielder we all crave) it might be ok.

As always thanks for the info Alan. :tu:

With regards to Givet coming in,maybe Sam has ideas on Warnock competing with Pedersen for the left wing position?

I am not normally a fan of players playing out of position, but then again Gareth Barry got his first England cap as a centre-half,then at club level moved to left-back,left-wing then regained a place in the England squad as a centre-midfielder.

I do think Warnock would take Pedersen`s place as he is good at going forward and is quite capable of tracking back to help in defence when needed.
