On that basis he is a great signing. Football manager is rarely wrong. :D

Data base is even used by some premiership teams.

The striker I hear you are sniffing around is a better idea than Beattie...

Surprised no-one has asked is it Janko again????

Or have we done a Jack and bid £5.00 for Robinho.

Saviola is linked with Pompey on the BBC paper round up this morning. Wasn't he linked to Bolton when Sam was there quite often?

Yes more than once.

I wonder how much Saviola would cost? Despite Portsmouth having sold several players i can't see them having that much money to spend with the owner's financial problems.

Saviola is on mega money he would definitely have to take a cut to join us permanently even a loan maybe beyond our finances.

Bloody good player though.

Not sure you are right on this one, Nicko! i have heard from some reliable unnamed sources that he will be in today for a medical & talks!?!

UHHH Oh!!! Not sure how new you are Benni but questioning the validity (even in jest) of any of nicko's stories on this board is tantamount to holocaust denial! Prepare for an influx of nicko fanboys replying with such enlightened comebacks as implying you are a retard, still at school (usually a "school holiday" type insult is thrown), or told that as you are not a journalist you have failed at life.

oh please. where did you hear? if you are joking, please stop

Edit Sorry, my warning was too late!

Unless the club/an insider says otherwise, I think, with all due respect, people should stop slagging Ince off for Blackman already. For all we know, Barry Whitbread found him, or we were looking at him under Hughes.

Certain people were certain that Andrews wasn't going to play for us once Ince left, but surprise surprise, Big Sam picked him, just as Ince did. While Ince might have make mistakes, that isn't to say he did everything wrong.

For all we know, this guy might be the next Jonny Stead. Remember him? Don't remember Hughes being slagged off for signing him though.

To be fair it's nicko's job to break stories, they don't always do things that fans are going to like, it certainly isn't Hughes job to do it.

It would have been just as odd if nicko had selected the Man City team in the last game and was barking out orders on the touchline, still he couldn't do much worse.

That's a fair point, I suppose you're right. But on that note I was thinking, if it isn't against the rules (which I'm assuming it's not as Hughes did it) I reckon BFS should find out everything he can about some of the clauses in some of the City contracts and just read them off one by one, player by player and his next conference.

Would be nice to see Hughes' reaction to that!

Exactly. Bunn is looking like he will be a (very?) good player for us.

Allardyce is in charge now and the buck stops with him. He is to blame for our subsequent problems. If you don't accept this, then I suggest you blame Roy Hodgson, he was the first manager that it started to go wrong under. (Because if you believe everything is Ince's fault, then you must apportion no blame to Kidd the first time we went down, so in that scenario it must be Hodgson's fault)

He made his debut under Ince, therefore i reckon it's fair to say the deal was probably agreed while Ince was at Ewood.

You appear to be defending the indefensible ADB, in deflecting criticism for Ince's awful reign at Ewood.

A decent striker for less than £3m? Ruling out lower leagues we could be looking at a free transfer. In which case my finger points to Lovenkrads. Free agent.

Wouldn't class him as a brilliant signing myself but has be mentioned for a few clubs so cant be awful

The Macclesfield kid signs...there's another for the list...remember some said that was more anti-Ince stuff when I first wrote it. Huh.

The striker I have heard about would probably be on ONLY if Roque leaves.

Think there has been a move for someone today, but it's not what I would call glamorous...keeping that for the 11 o'clocker.

Saviola is being chased by Portsmouth...not sure he is what they or you need...hardly played for ages.

Jones will be a lot of money - Villa have it, so it's up to them to spend it.

This is proving to be a hard market for people to do deals in, mainly because so many clubs are in the same relegation fight and so many oafs are doing the deals.

Heard anything about Ryan Taylor Nicko?

He would be nice to have against Newcastle this weekend.

*Taylor scored his first goal in the Premier League with a cracker for Wigan against Newcastle United on February 25, 2007.

*including his second Premier League goal on December 26, 2007, with another free kick against Newcastle

*Exactly a year later, Taylor would score another free kick, also against Newcastle.

*On November 15, 2008, Taylor scored yet another goal against Newcastle

*His next goal would also come against Newcastle, on Boxing Day, bringing his record to 4 goals in 4 consecutive games against Newcastle

Ryan Taylor

Steve Finnan?

Nicko - heard anything?

Allardyce close to first signing

Isn't Ryan Taylor a regular is a buoyant Wigan side? Not sure he'd want to move but don't know enough about him to be honest

Hmm. Ryan Taylor strikes me as a bit of an Ian Hart.... excellent set pieces, and an outstanding right foot (as opposed to Hart's left) but not mobile enough or positionally aware to be a reliable defensive player. I would be suprised if Sam went for him.

Ewood and I would: have you read what the maccs site says? pretty much that the kid is a ince signing, but he had to wait because players are not allowed to move outside the window.

stop harassing a player who just came in for being an Ince signing.

It's nok like he is 33, fat and Ince's friend.

Leave him alone for gods sake.

Do we need a defensive player though? I thought we needed to replace Bentley so Emo could go back there.

It doesn't seem Sam sees it that way. Must either want to continue with Emerton on the right wing or move him to central midfield. To be fair recently he has done well enough. But if we keep on the wing we are going to need creativity from other areas. McCarthy aside it is hard to see who we can rely on to make opportunities.

Emerton can be creative going inside - he needs a wing-back to overlap him and make 2 on 1 situations.
