Bobby G Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 By short-term I mean, once our position is secured for next season we could be looking for a far better right winger!
alexanders Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 By short-term I mean, once our position is secured for next season we could be looking for a far better right winger! Ok, but I think he has the potential to deliver good crosses for Santa Cruz Btw Stevo - I had Ryan Taylor's name only few minutes after Nicko mentioned that we were looking at a versatile right winger/back I bet it is Ryan Taylor or Steve Finnan, because Nicko hasn't answered yet. He seems to dissapear when he is saving his story for the 11 o'clocker. He also said it wasn't a glamorous signing. There you go
Bobby G Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 But I mentioned we should look at him when it was made known that he was available at a knock-down price a few weeks ago!
FeedTheHare Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 rumours he has gone to villa for 6 million Aren't them rumours a result of the fake profile on the Villa site?
alexanders Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 But I mentioned we should look at him when it was made known that he was available at a knock-down price a few weeks ago! You Win Bobby
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The Lancashire Telegraph reports that we are after Ryan Taylor but Wigan could price him out of a move.
alexanders Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The Lancashire Telegraph reports that we are after Ryan Taylor but Wigan could price him out of a move. Surely they won't. He is a free agent in the summer. Nicko mentioned £1 - could be a very good move.
Mc Love Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Surely they won't. He is a free agent in the summer. Nicko mentioned £1 - could be a very good move. £1 - now that is a good move
Bobby G Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Surely they won't. He is a free agent in the summer. Nicko mentioned £1 - could be a very good move. They could price him out effectively as Valencia could be leaving in this window. Word in Spain is that they have bid 12 million Euros and Saviola.
RoverRich Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Apparently West Brom are looking at unsettled striker Angelos Charisteas. Could that be the striker that we are also looking at for a Roque replacement? 12 million Euros + Saviola for Valencia??? I would take that if I were at Wigan! Saviola at Wigan would be crazy!

Charisteas? NO! Absolute disgrace of a footballer. Danko Lazovic? Maybe ;-)
T4E Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Charisteas? NO! Absolute disgrace of a footballer. Please expand?
Heinz Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Please expand? Because of two crap periods at both Ajax and Feyenoord he now plays in the German second division for 1.FC Nürnberg where he managed to score 6 goals in 16 months. Lets take him.
T4E Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Wasn't trying to catch you out mate, I know little about him. I thought maybe he'd done something particularly bad.
Heinz Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Wasn't trying to catch you out mate, I know little about him. I thought maybe he'd done something particularly bad. No worries, really think we should do better. As I recall correctly we were linked with PSV striker Lazovic in December. He might be very decent. Link
RoverRich Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Charisteas? NO! Absolute disgrace of a footballer. Danko Lazovic? Maybe ;-) I didn't want it to be Charisteas either, I just thought with his name being previously mentioned he might be linked with us again if Roque does go. I would much rather Lazovic! Nicko, or anyone, any ideas who the alternative right sider is that Big Sam is gonna go for as rumoured in today's LT: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...keen_on_Taylor/ Also, apparently Santa Cruz is being discussed in a board meeting today after Man City sent in another bid. That is according to MEN.
Majiball Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 On the Striker Link: Young Gooners time is surely up. Adebayor and now aiding the enemey. Would be good in a Rovers shirt.

nicko Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Some updates. RYAN TAYLOR - Just been with Brucie and he won't sell Taylor, but the lad does know of the Rovers interest and is keen. Bolton want him too. I have a hunch he won't move in the window. RIGHT BACKS - Still watching them...interesting line about Chretien in an earlier post. Obviously could be bought - but has to be seen again. ZORO - Could fill the vacancy, but looks like a squad man with that profile and CV...playing in a closed-door game with Huddersfield right now. ROQUE - I hear Man City are doing business today...but not hearing Roque's name being mentioned much...we could know more later on.
Bobby G Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 So Taylor not for sale...A bit disappointed as I felt his set plays at the least would be a step up from our current offerings.

I was wondering how we thought we had a chance of getting Taylor when he seems to be in a rich vein of form at present until I read that he is out of contract in the summer. Are Wigan in a position to write off £1m or so?
Mozzer Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 ryan taylor is free in the summer aint he..so wigan will risk losing him for nothing..

Is it something that is going to drag on until the last day of the window?
nicko Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The Taylor equation from Wigan's point of view is 'what would it cost to find a replacement now?' So they will stick with him I think.
