James No. 7 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Just been checking out the stats of that first half, over 80% of our attacking moves have come from central areas. I'd look to change that a bit in the second half otherwise our play will become predictable and easy to defend against. The wingers/full backs are getting crowded out very well by Sunderland. Is Sunderland's pitch narrow? Regardless, I think they Sunderland is doing a good job in that area. The midfield is being over-run, especially in central places. We are seriously lacking a more imposing midfielder, who should be taking Andrews' place. If Sunderland get a goal in this game, it is highly unlikely that it will be answered. The team can't simply get a grip on the ball, which is a problem stemming from losing the game in midfield. The referee is poor as well. Do not be surprised if a red card is shown for no good reason. He is heavily in favour of the hosts. To be fair to the hosts, their crowd is very good and well into it. They really make you feel Rovers are in enemy territory.

Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Samba turned into Maradona and scored with his hand. Obviously disallowed and ruined the chances of others scoring.
FourLaneBlue Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 In that case it may not be such a surprise if Sam exchanges a forward for a midfielder and goes to 4-5-1, which we all know he likes, in an attempt to wrest back midfield control. Hope Benni is the one that stays on as he is in goalscoring form and he is a confidence player who should be full of that confidence. Tugay would be the more attacking choice to bring on...Mokoena less so. Will be interesting to see Sam´s thinking and tactics as the game progresses.
deftangel Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 What a tit Samba, no need. Positive start though
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Sunderland still look like the only time who will score today. Everytime we go in their half, their defence looks strong and deals with our strike force. When they attack, we go into panic mode at the back.
Backroom DE. Posted December 26, 2008 Backroom Posted December 26, 2008 Boro are a goal down, they're in trouble if we can nick a result here. Rovers on 19 points will have a good chance of escaping this mess with Boro, Stoke, Hull (I think the bubble may have finally burst there), Newcastle, Sunderland and Wigan above us. Wigan will likely lose Valencia and possibly Heskey in the window, making it a tough 2nd half of the season for them. Wouldn't be confident as a Portsmouth fan right now either, if they continue their dire form and we get 2 wins we're fighting with them too. We must win this game, really.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 So close there! After seeing the replay, it was a cracking save by Fulop.
Iceman Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Nearly a goal! I have a feeling we going to squeeze a 1-0 win here. C'mon you Blues!
1864roverite Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 not when Andrews misses a 1 on 1 with a second string keeper
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Yeah, great move from Rovers there. We're starting to cause them trouble now. Keep it up!
deftangel Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 not when Andrews misses a 1 on 1 with a second string keeper I'm hardly his biggest fan but it was a decent run and he hit the target.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Dunny possibly injured again. Tugay on for Dunn. He looks very gutted!
AggyBlue Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 not when Andrews misses a 1 on 1 with a second string keeper He'll score more one on one's than Roberts
Rovers in America Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I'm hardly his biggest fan but it was a decent run and he hit the target. Yeah, Andrews is turning into the new Pedersen. Even when he does something good, people can't admit it and instead says it's shockingly bad.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I got a feeling Benni will be taken off soon. He doesn't look like he wants to be there today!
Mr. E Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 we were playing some good football the 2nd half, led by Dunn, and now he's injured again. It's just soul-crushing.
Iceman Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 If you have an Experienced season campaigner, like Roberts missing one on one situations then you can forgive Keith for missing that chance. We must keep up the momentum!
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Sunderland back on top with Dunny off. I'd take the draw.
