T4E Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Lawro's assessments are often fair, our fans inherent paranoia just makes it seem otherwise. The whole World goes out of their way to spite us you know.

doctorryan Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 This one is coming on the television over here! I get to see us play for about the third time this season. Chr@*t, we've been on a lot more than that. Get yourself Setanta or find a pub that subscribes to it.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 According to Five Live: Bunn in goal Grella and vogel in midfield Carlos up front with Derbs Moko and Zurab in defense? Treacy and Judge on the wings
DeadlyDirk Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Is it just me who thinks Lawro's assessment is quite fair for once? He knows it wont be a full strength team, I'd be hesitant to expect a walkover. I don't expect it to be a walkover and I know were fielding a weak team but I still expect them to be the ones who will aim to be hard to beat and we'll have to be the ones to try and break them down. A win's a win.
Pugg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Ah, Vogel and Carlos, I wanted to see those two. 2-0 Rovers!
Presty On Tour Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 God no! Not the axe in central defense! Please tell me it's not true?
Pugg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 The Axe in defence; on no! Should I change it to 2-2?
Bobby G Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Excited with the fringe players. Even though it wont prove much against non-league opposition, I believe Judge, Bunn, and Carlos have the most to prove and it will be good to see how Grella and Vogel fare as it may give Sam some food for thought.
herbergeehh Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'll annoy you with a prediction of/wish for today's starting eleven, whilst waiting for the XI to be announced. Bunn/Brown Simpson, Khizanishvili, Nelsen ©, Olsson Judge, Vogel or Mokoena, Grella, Treacy Derbyshire, Villanueva My side has Nelsen as the only regular starter, will be interesting to see just how many players from the last XI Allardyce wants to play. It's a decent side though, and a bench full of experience, and perhaps even more obscure players (Doran, Clarke, Hodge, Kane?) - we should be good. A half way choice, where we have a core of regular starters and just a few of the "fringe" players might be more likely.

RibbleValleyRover Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Olsson and Simpson full backs? I heard Simpson being named, not sure about Olsson, but i reckon its likely.

RoverRich Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I reckon the fringe players would actually do better than our best XI tonight. The reserves will have a point to prove and a bit more fight in them than I think the first team would. The first teamers are more likely to see it as just turning up will mean a win. The reserves did well against Grimsby so hopefully we come away with a comfortable win.
mohelger Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Will be exciting to see the fringe players in action. Hopefully Mokoena in central defence doesn't make a fool of himself, anyway really can't see him being used in that position so it's probably just because it was more interesting for Big Sam to see Vogel and Grella in their primary positions. Wouldn't mind Emerton on right back if Simpson's still injured.
herbergeehh Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 if nelson plays we will be evicted from the fa cup for fielding suspended players My bad The only missing player from my team though, so I'm excused (Hell, I even mentioned all the eleven starters in the line-up!) Looking forward to this, the only thing missing from our side is a young, classy defender instead of Mokoena. I predict a Judge goal.
mohelger Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 ...and hopefully Derbyshire has picked up a few spanish phrases to give Villanueva some intructions and confuse the Spartans' defence
DeadlyDirk Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I agree that its good to see the fringe players getting a chance, we should win this game whichever side we put out, it may not tell BFS whether or not they are good enough for the premiership, but it'll certainly tell him if they are not good enough!!!
