As revealed by skysports.com Olympiakos have lined up a shock move to sign the England Under 21 international on loan until the end of the season.

Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire has joined Greek giants Olympiakos on a six-month loan.

He said: "I am excited at the prospect of joining such a big club as Olympiakos and when I found out about the possibility of moving there it was something I looked at.

"I saw they were top of the league and I have been told by various people they are the biggest club in Greece with fanatical fans. I know players like Tresor Lomana Lua Lua had a spell there.

"I had the opportunity to stay in England as other clubs were interested in me, but I fancied this opportunity to join one of Europe's biggest clubs. It gives me the chance to play in Europe and experience a different culture and I am really looking forward to it."

Independent- City turn to Tevez as Rovers reject final £18.5m bid for Roque today

Nicko's Crouch story suggests Rovers will offer £10m for him. It alsoi says City's 4th and latest bid was under £20m and has been rejected and that Spurs are looking to up their bid of £20m of yesterday although they are offering Bent in part-ex.

Independent- Spurs end interest in Keane but cannot afford £22m Roque I would think they could go to £22m if Harry really wants Roque but again the Crouch story breaking probably scuppers that. The advantage of going for Spurs players is that they are on much lower wages than Pompey pay.

Guardian- City make final offer (explicitly final) of £18.5m- no mention that this is a cash payment either.

Ben Haim would be allowed to leave to join Rovers. ie Rovers have to buy him off City.

So a poor, sorry, very poor offer from City where it is blatantly clear they are not backing Sparky.

The Sun reckon the City 4th bid made yesterday was only £17m and Rovers have rejected it.

Roque Santa Cruz talking to the Telegraph.

Bit of a cheat talking about "my agent" when he could equally say "my Dad" and those lost in translation Paraguayan radio interviews.

Other than that I have no quibble about what he says about the Rovers- in fact he is fantastic about the Rovers.

Clearly he would go to City if the clubs agree.

The significance of this interview is that it must have been taken AFTER the Spurs bid was made/interest was known yet Spurs are not mentioned at all. I suspect the player would say no to Spurs otherwise why isn't there something said to give them a hint of encouragement?
