Gav Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I gave him some credit on the Spurs thread, but I won't be changing my opinion of him anytime soon.

Hughesy Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Diouf is fast becoming one of my favourites. He plays the loveable rogue brilliantly, if all of our players cared as much as he does then we'd be well out of this. Agree with that too - he also seems to of brought our squad closer together too - maybe its his awful character ha ha! DIOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!
thenodrog Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I gave him some credit on the Spurs thread, but I won't be changing my opinion of him anytime soon. A pity cos I'm sure he speaks highly of you Gav. Give a dog a bad name eh? Yet another poster to have painted himself in a corner.
CrazyIvan Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 ...Yet another poster to have painted himself in a corner. You seem to do that a lot yourself... Diouf has something about him that is unique. Lovable rogue sometimes doesn't quite cover it but you have to admire him. The Gomes Diouf thing went back to the first half when Diouf had a shot blocked and Gomes was making some sort of comment that was a dig at either Diouf or Rovers. Certainly Diouf took offence and got payback at the end of the match. Personally, I don't mind someone who winds the opposition up because it gets all the fans going and generates a lot of humour into the bargain. As a player, I don't know whether it's because he isn't yet fully fit but he seems to be a bit slow, certainly Andrews passed to where he thought Diouf would be and the defender got there first easily a number of times. His skill is undoubted though and having him on the pitch is of benefit to Rovers just because of who he is.
Ozz Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I think some credit must go to Allardyce, he seems to get the best out of him. (Or beast also).
Gav Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 A pity cos I'm sure he speaks highly of you Gav. Give a dog a bad name eh? Yet another poster to have painted himself in a corner. Just how have I painted myself into a corner exactly? I've given the guy credit for his performances on a different thread, but as for spitting at people I don't like that. Over to you.
T4E Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 You dislike it so much that no matter what EHD does in a Rovers shirt, you'll never ever like him?
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Clearly a bit of a hothead and a psycho on the pitch but at the same time he clearly wants to see the club do as well as possible and is fully committed to the cause. He almost scored at the weekend as well, it required an off the line clearance by Ekotto?
Gamst Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Agree with that, he's just like a pantomime villain and seems to thrive off it. Batty, Savage, Diouf - you call them rotten when they're playing for someone else but you love them to bits when they're playing for you. Off the pitch he's also the nicest bloke you could wish to meet. When I went down to Brockhall the other week with some of the disabled supporters the first team players were just coming out for a training session and it was a bit of a hard job pushing those in wheelchairs up an incline as the wheels were sinking into the turf. Diouf noticed this and came running over from a distance away to help. Once he'd done that, some of the other players offered their assistance. He seemed a particularly enthusiastic trainer during the training session as well. I have heard similar about Dioufy. A friend of mine won a competition with one of the local papers to spend a day with a reporter and meet the players etc. at Bolton. Apparently Diouf was such a nice guy! He was by far the most welcoming member of the team! My friend despised him prior to this visit and was thoroughly shocked at how nice he was.
LeChuck Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Sounding more like Savage Mk. 2 with every post - right down to the awful set pieces.
Gav Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 You dislike it so much that no matter what EHD does in a Rovers shirt, you'll never ever like him? It doesn't matter what he does in a Rovers shirt, it'll not change my opinion of him no, and surely you'd not expect me to either?
waggy Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 It doesn't matter what he does in a Rovers shirt, it'll not change my opinion of him no, and surely you'd not expect me to either? he looked a complete nob at the end off the game,i was praying for woodgate to chin him, missed 2 easy chances in the game, but he has learnt dunny how to dive properly
Amo Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 he looked a complete nob at the end off the game,i was praying for woodgate to chin him, missed 2 easy chances in the game, but he has learnt dunny how to dive properly Muahahaha!!
T4E Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I'm actually surprised that you have such a strong opinion on him that you're absolutely certain it could never change. It's not like he killed or injured anyone. Or even tried to.
Gav Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I'm actually surprised that you have such a strong opinion on him that you're absolutely certain it could never change. It's not like he killed or injured anyone. Or even tried to. You're right T4E but what he has done is spat at people, several times, and I despise spitting. You can defend a bad tackle but you can't defend spitting in someone’s face.
roversmum Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Praise for Diouf from The Admiral - last five paragraphs
Flopsy Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 You're right T4E but what he has done is spat at people, several times, and I despise spitting. You can defend a bad tackle but you can't defend spitting in someone’s face. Being spat at is disgusting, but hardly career threatening, whereas a bad tackle can be. Plus ive never heard of a glob of flem breaking someone's leg. As a player i hated Diouf for the diving and the acts of spitel However his commitment to Rovers and Big Boned Sam can not be questioned at present. If he helps keep us I'll almost forgive himfor that shocking dive the other year.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Being spat at is disgusting, but hardly career threatening, whereas a bad tackle can be. Plus ive never heard of a glob of flem breaking someone's leg. I have no idea why but the thought of Ronaldo going down with a broken leg clutching a big glob of phlegm sprung to mind. We live in hope.
roversmum Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Didn't Ronaldo spit at the blessed Robbie Savage recently?
gumboots Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Didn't Ronaldo spit at the blessed Robbie Savage recently? Wouldn't surprise me. In fact nothing nasty that he does surprises me. He's the only player who drives my normally mild mannered husband to think violent thoughts. I honestly think if he got anywhere near him he'd want to thump him (not that he'd stand a chance or try to because violence is not in his makeup) but the thought would definitely be there.
Duff's Minder Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I've never understood why people get so worked up about spitting. If someone spits on you they deserve a smack, if someone tries to break your leg with a tackle or swings an elbow they deserve banning.
Billy Castell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Lee Carsley's challenge last night was worse than spitting in my opinion.
broadsword Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Didn't Ronaldo spit at the blessed Robbie Savage recently? yes he did. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...-Derby-day.html As for Gav, I really think you need to calm down. Just take Diouf on his merits now. If he never spits in a Blackburn shirt, would you still hate him? Give him a fresh slate and let it go.
gazsimm Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 he looked a complete nob at the end off the game,i was praying for woodgate to chin him, missed 2 easy chances in the game, but he has learnt dunny how to dive properly Them tv screens must be poor in the pub you go to Waggy. Diouf was one of our best players on saturday, the chances were not easy at all.
gazsimm Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 You're right T4E but what he has done is spat at people, several times, and I despise spitting. You can defend a bad tackle but you can't defend spitting in someone’s face. When was the last time, Diouf spat in someone's face? I think it a while ago i, he made a mistake and has probabley learned never to do that again. Give him a break and support him FFS, he has not put a thing wrong at Ewood since he has come into the club and has been one of our best players since Sam has taken over from that useless MR INCE!!
