:rover: i'm no fan of spit, and i have give him a chance to shine in rovers colours,to me he is a por man wilcox or ripley :brfcsmilie:

Indeed. They were prolific scorers too weren't they?

The fact that you are comparing Diouff to Ripley and Wilcox (who themselves were poor mens Giggs, Konchesky, Henry and Ronaldo etc) is praise indeed cos they worked and worked for the BRFC cause and that is a quality that I see also in EHD.

Except for about 3 cracking crosses he put accross in the game against Pompey?

Or except for the crucial goal he got at Fulham away.

He tries as hard as anyone, he's improving every week, his delivery is improving and he isnt afraid to get stuck in and wind the opposition up. If everyone in our squad worked as hard then we would be far higher in the league. He's no Blackburn End favourite for nothing.

He had plenty to do when he arrived given his past and still does for me. A one goal return isn't exactly pulling up trees and he dosn't make much of an impact in games imo.

I've got a BBE s/t and I'm not aware of his cult hero status.

Do you not here the fans chant every time he comes over to take a corner then? Best get down to the docs and get your ears checked out......

His job isnt goals, its to add an outlet to our right hand side and add abit more fight to the team - he has done that. Yes he could still do better...but so far he has done quite well I think.

He's been OK, but I'd actually say he's regressed in his time here. First few games he was playing much better than he is now. He is playing like the player he has always been though, a decent one. He isn't great, he could never be the best player in a good team. He works hard and does a decent job on the right, but we could certainly improve on him. I think he's really an overpaid squad player. He'd be a very good bench option or back-up, but because of an overpriced transfer after a world cup was able to elevate himself to more than that.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better right-sided player for 1.8M. Superb business. With Emerton and Reid coming back hopefully next season I don't think right-side is a priority anymore.

I always remember when we used to play Bolton, It used to worry me when he got the ball, He used to be quite quick and skillful. Since joining he has not been the player I expected, he seems quite slow. However has has put in some good performances and gives his all. He hadn't played much since joining Sunderland, so with a good pre season with the squad I think he'll come good next year. He's also been quite unlucky infront of goal. My only problem is his corners aren't very good,

HOWEVER (again) I still think the pitch at ewood is to blame for our poor corners. Why a pitch is raised I'll never know, It puts extra pressure on the takers legs taking power out of the kick. You only have to look at Wembley to see that having it flatter next to the corner flag helps the taker a huge amount. its a much smoother run up. Maybe this could be brough up at the fans forum?

I can't remember exactly which game it was but it was one of his first after arriving, he picked up an injury and he does look like he's been carrying a knock ever since.

He's only 28 and he hasn't had any serious injuries so I'm not sure how else you could explain the loss of pace. I'm hoping he has been carrying a knock which will heal over the summer and we'll get the pace and skill to match the hard work and effort next season.

If not then we definitely need competition on that wing. The fact that he can comfortably play on either side means he would be great backup for a new right winger and Pedersen.

I would imagine the pitch is raised up for the drainage, beckham, giggs, and ronaldo have taken some good corners over the years at Old Trafford which is very similar to Ewood! It should be harder for the away team who don't play there every other week!

The pitch is defintely a drainage thing. The river running along the back of the Riverside stand means that the pitch slopes from its highest point at the JW side of the Darwen end to the lowest at the Riverside end of the BBE. It's over a metre in difference. Someone explained it when I did a ground tour thing.

Then surely the simple answer is to raise the area between the pitch and the perimeter walls. If the same materials are used there should be no problem with holding water on the new raised area.

Any gardener's with nout to do in the closed season?. :D

Just saw Diouf after work in his new car, luckily for me it was in bolton town centre where it was quiet so I managed to get him to pull up - very nice motor, but £420k for a left hand drive! He didnt however pay that much for it he said.

Sound bloke.

I understood the pitch to be levelled with a laser. I think that to achieve this the amount of aggregate is more at one end than the other in order to keep the lot above water level.... If you get what I mean.

Sorry that wasn't quite the right explanation. Of course the pitch itself doesn't slope like that but you knew what I meant. Technical explanations I leave to blokes while I get in with changing plugs, clearing blocked drains etc.

wilcox knew were the back of the net!!! that just sums you up waggy!!

If you had been at Ewood the last couple of months waggy, you would of seen how much Diouf has improved the team!!

I don't think he's improved us that much, he's an improvement over Andrews or Derbyshire, but he does not better than someone like Emerton (or at least he hasn't so far).

According to Wikipedia Wilcox scored 31 goals in 271 games for us, which isn't a bad return for a winger. Diouf has scored 1 goal in 10(ish) games? So Wilcox scored at a slightly better rate and Diouf also missed a penalty. I'd imagine Diouf would end up with a similar goal tally over the same number of games, although he's only scored 1 goal in the league this season.

This doesn't make sense. You've said he's an improvement on Andrews or Derbs, and that's who would have been playing right wing.

How is that not, therefore, an improvement?
