One point. IF the police did go to search for bananas, when did they go? Had the cleaners already been round? Could stewards have picked them up? Hm conspiracy... Where's Miss Marple when you need her?

When there are 50+ still press cameras and a dozen or more TV cameras - not to mention CCTV everywhere on the ground ... they even pick up when tiny coins are thrown.

If there were bananas flying onto the pitch it would have been on every back page in the country on Monday morning, and EHD would be the victim rather than the villain.

I'll have to remember that it's OK to address someone by their skin colour if you don't know their name. "Pint of Guinness please, black lad. Don't be offended, it's how we speak where we come from!"
Although when he has his hair blonde, he does resemble a pint of Guinness.

You've convinced me that there were no nana's thrown. I still believe that there is something fishy about that interview.

I will withhold any further diatribes until the statement by Rovers.

Still think we should back our players.

According to sources at Everton, as soon as EHD told the police after the game, they were straight on the scene searching for bananas as well as studying footage of the game and using CCTV as stated above.

I was told earlier that Jason Roberts was on TalkSport and he mentioned that EHD was very quiet this week in training and keeping a low profile. Hopefully it doesn't affect his performance tomorrow. It will be interesting to see whether he starts or even plays tomorrow.

I'll admit I was wrong then. But personally I don't care. Diouf is a rovers player and will get my support regardless of what happens. Why should he be punished for an alleged action (and subsequent lie), yet the fans who shouted abuse at him (without reason other than who it was). The ballboy not flinching is the clincher for me; if Diouf had said something that boy would have at least glanced back. Yes, Dioufy is stupid if he has lied, but if he didn't say anything racist, he should get a full apology (as well as having to apologise himself).

You've just backed down on the point you previously made mellison, that pon was made purely to make diouf look good. I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt upto now. Wasn't keen onthe signing but was willing to give him a chance, yet again he's let himself down.

Also what was he doing in a nightclub in the early hours the day before a match (see nickos link above). Surely he shouldn't be lapping up the female attention when as far as I'm aware he recently became a dad.

Surely you can't be that blinkered that you'd suppert him no matter what he does?? He's a plank!!! Simple as that. He's had enough oportunities but constantly let's himself down. I'd be more than happy for sam to cancel his contract and let him go although it'll obviously never happen. If he sorts himself out then maybe he'll deserve our support.

It's the main backpage story in the Mail.

I agree it's pathetic how the papers pick and choose their stories, but this was entirely avoidable.

If Diouf had firstly kept his mouth shut on the pitch, and secondly on French radio - we wouldn't even be having the discussion.

El Hadj Diouf is the problem here - not anonymous Everton fans with invisible fruit, or the linesman, or even the ballboy.

I bet he's made messrs Adebayor, Bellamy and Hughes very happy men.

As a player he is slightly under rated.

As a human being he is vastly over rated.

I hate what the premier league has become. We succumb to employing these people just to stay in the promised land.

Been going to Ewood 29 years and one of my favourite seasons was when we had Jansen, Dunny, Flitty, Short, Duff, Tiny etc in what is now the champonship. And we played bloody entertaining football.

The prem is not the be all and end all.

Sack him!

1. I'd no idea that you know him personally Alan.

2. Sack him?! Stupid comment. Storm in a tea cup and you are behaving like a hysterical fishwife. In fact your avotar is perfect.

IMO he's a ###### player. Used to be good at Bolton and never liked playing against him. He was quick and elusive but all his pace has gone. I wonder if he is older than he says he is or if he's lost it because he's in the bars pretending to be a gangster every night.

Regardless of what he has lost in playing ability, he still remains a complete tughead. I'm sure he is on high wages too. With Hoillet and Doran coming through I would like to get rid, but it isn't going to happen. Would be good if he got sent to prison for something...

In this whole debacle he is in the wrong for the banana claim but still believe the racism claim is utter tosh. However racism is still very much intact in football, I often hear racist shouts in the Blackburn end, he was wrong to fuel that fire, but in his mind maybe he was fighting fire with fire, he was wrongly (?) accused so he fights back. We know 2 wrongs don't make a right though.

Sack him??? Get a grip FFS.

Funny thing is by most accounts he's a real top bloke in 'real life' and I'm sure anybody who has ever played football knows you rarely act your normal self on the pitch when the adrenaline kicks in.

I just don't believe that. He's smacked his wife about and look at his carry on when he goes out to the clubs. He's a total dick. Don't believe all that bullshit footballers say about how great they all are, we know most of them are complete blends as well.

Carragher (not Gospel, I know) said that Diouf was highly unpopular at Liverpool.

He strikes me as a self-obsessed idiot. He thinks he is a gangster-footballer-music artist.

In reality, he is an ugly man's Henri Camara. He's still living off that World Cup performance against France. At 'pool he was poor, his goal record in France was nothing to write home about, at Sunderland he was poor and at Bolton, he played a certain ballsy role. Imo, he's over-rated as a footballer. Yes, he helped us stay up but I think its time we started looking to get rid. Let's get a right winger who doesn't suffer from an anti hero-complex.

I love the fact that everyone here is so in love with themselves that they think their opinions actually mean anything in this situation. Supporters have very little sway over club policy at the best of times, but do you really think that Allardyce and Williams are going to wake up in the morning and think "oh no, Diouf's unpopular, we'd better get rid"? If the club gave a **** what any of us think of Diouf they wouldn't have signed him in the first place, because something was always going to come up that would make a large number of our fans fall out with him (those that were willing to give him a chance in the first place).

Of course not.

But you might be surprised to know that senior figures at Ewood do look at this board and they do take note of what supporters are saying.

This forum offers fans the chance to express their views: if you think that supporters shouldn't have opinions and it's all a waste of time why bother to post ?

Mellison - do you remember this? Do you support this on pitch cheating regardless of what happens?

If Ashley Young does that to us tomorrow to cheat us out of three points, but signs for Rovers next summer, is everything forgiven?

The diving is bad Tris, however Dunny has been far worse for that recently yet he gets away with nobody mentioning it for some reason.

And it's a certainty Young will try it tomorrow at some stage, he's the worst of the lot.

I understand the idea of sharing opinions, but some people go way over the top. Telling everyone that Diouf is an unsavoury character whom you will not make welcome at your club is one thing. It is quite another to repeatedly call for him to be sacked every time someone adopts an opposing point of view. Nothing new has come to light for a while, so those who defend the player aren't likely to have some dramatic change of heart based on one of the anti-Diouf crowd rephrasing the same old criticisms. Likewise, those who support the player should know that Rovers fans who don't like him generally have a deep-seated dislike for him, so nothing they read on here is going to cause them to rethink their position. There is no need to keep going round in circles:

A:"He's a ****"

B: "He's a Rovers player, you should back him."

A: "But he's a ****"

B: "But he's a Rovers player."

For what it's worth, those who are so taken by the idea of sacking him are being even more petulant than Diouf (and that's what has generally lay at the heart of his misdeeds). Whining and bawling, "I don't want him at my club, and if he's staying then I'm going to cry about it at every opportunity". Fantastic.
