Backroom DE. Posted January 2, 2010 Backroom Posted January 2, 2010 Look at it this way, he got sent off in a game that we were unlikely to win anyway, in a competition we were never going to win. It means he can't play for the next 3 games (I think that includes the premiership?) which is no bad thing. Maybe we'll even be able to dock his wages for a couple of weeks , who knows? Though Sam does love "Dioufy" so chances are nothing will happen in regards to wage deduction, but at least he isn't available for selection for a little while.
JAL Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 We can only hope and pray that Coyle lands the Bolton job, and as a crowd pleaser he resigns Diouf for the wankees.
philipl Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce on El-Hadji Diouf's red card: "I see a lot of those situations that never result in a sending-off. They will justify it by saying it was two-footed but the referee, Howard Webb, is a long way away."
JAL Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce on El-Hadji Diouf's red card: "I see a lot of those situations that never result in a sending-off. They will justify it by saying it was two-footed but the referee, Howard Webb, is a long way away." Havent seen the challenge yet, but a two footed airborne challenge that connects with an opponent is a straight red. Allardyces credibility is on the line here if his w@nker has committed the sin.
McAds Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 It was two footed and very late, but more importantly completely unnecessary. The bloke is a total moron.
Amo Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Positive: He's ineligible for three games. Negative: It might deter some possible suitors (if there were any to start with).
Hughesy Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Last season - did a great job This season - Started off ok, been poor, dropped to get a reaction and then goes and blows any hope of getting back in todays game. Time for him to go now!
joey_big_nose Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Last season - did a great job This season - Started off ok, been poor, dropped to get a reaction and then goes and blows any hope of getting back in todays game. Time for him to go now! I thikn we are utterly saddled with him. I cannot see anyone coming in for him. Best hope is probably one of these Qatar clubs that offer exhorbitant wages to past it players, but you have to question whether Diouf is a big enough name to tempt them.
joey_big_nose Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Well if LuaLua is? Ah, that is encouraging. Maybe we could make up a brochure and mailshot the Middle East?
Hughesy Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I trust JW and co - they managed to sell Kuqi for £2.5m afterall
joey_big_nose Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I trust JW and co - they managed to sell Kuqi for £2.5m afterall The issue isn't that no one will want him - I am sure some people in the Championship would love to have him - problem is who wants him AND will match his 30-40k wages?
S15 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 And then make a series of decisions which have seriously harmed our football club. Diouf will not leave, Dubai clubs only seem to do their business in our summer window.
Backroom DE. Posted January 2, 2010 Backroom Posted January 2, 2010 Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce on El-Hadji Diouf's red card: "I see a lot of those situations that never result in a sending-off. They will justify it by saying it was two-footed but the referee, Howard Webb, is a long way away." why can't a manager just come out and say "yes, it was a stupid challenge, he deserved the red." ? If there's one thing that's soured my opinion of Allardyce this season it has been his post-match interviews. They're nearly as infuriating as Ince's (actually, I lie, they're not... but they're still bloody annoying).
S15 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 To be fair I think Allardyce is usually very honest, and has been in the press criticising Diouf, McCarthy and MGP this past week.
Backroom DE. Posted January 2, 2010 Backroom Posted January 2, 2010 I disagree... his assessments of our matches, especially recently, are strange. He also never, ever takes flak for his own mistakes. It's never his fault. A little humility now and again would not go amiss. As for his slating of the above three, about f'n time. Should have been done long ago, instead of needlessly knocking Kalinic a few weeks back.
Backroom Tom Posted January 2, 2010 Backroom Posted January 2, 2010 why can't a manager just come out and say "yes, it was a stupid challenge, he deserved the red." ? If there's one thing that's soured my opinion of Allardyce this season it has been his post-match interviews. They're nearly as infuriating as Ince's (actually, I lie, they're not... but they're still bloody annoying). I'd agree with that, his interviews after Sunderland was pathetic, saying if we had a £13m striker we would be top half, with all due respect if we could afford players of that standard we would possibly have a manager to match.
cn174 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 We could see from the opposite corner that it was a red card. It was also completely needless tackle.
Backroom DE. Posted January 2, 2010 Backroom Posted January 2, 2010 Just seen Diouf's challenge in ITV... wtf. How can Allardyce defend that with a straight face?
matts5 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 He is an absolute disgrace and it is embarassing that such an average (and that's being kind) player can earn the 30-40K that has been mentioned on here. He is a prime example of why Rovers can't get anyone decent because so much money is wasted on the wage bill. Get rid of him, he is too slow, granted he can find the keeper from 40 yards, that's Robbo when he passes it back from the half way but he is not worthy of wearing the shirt and his ridiculous challenge today show that he has no common sense and does not care about his team mates, by making it even harder for them, 3 days before a semi final.
broadsword Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 He;s on a long-term contract paying a ridiculous amount of money, he's not suddenly going to improve. So, we have another 2.5 years of this bull. Unless someone totally desperate or clinically insane appears on the horizon.
