Before this I was a commercial fisherman working in New Zealand. Hope tp move back into something more exciting soon, as office life is not for me.

Presty On Tour Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Looks like a giant water balloon transporter. Or a Giant false booby transporter. If Wales blows up, there's a chance it will be all my fault! One of the perks of the job is dealing with the chiefs on the tankers, they will sell you anything!
ihtd Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I have just sent off my application for a PGCE course, so i am wondering if we have any teachers on this messageboard? I would love to hear from someone that works in secondary education, what to expect from the job and other little bits of useful information. I have applied to complete a PGCE specialising in P.E. Could replys be sent by PM please as i doubt the mod's would appreciate that i have already taken the thread slightly off track anyway. I didn't feel it were worthy of a new thread just to get a few questions answered for my own gain.

Drunx2002 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'm a wildlife management adviser for the Government. I cover Hertfordshire and Essex advising members of the public from blind grannies to international companies on wildlife legislation and what they can and can't do. Ranges from issuing people with licences to interfere with badger setts (where they have a valid reason) to assessing and enforcing the translocation of thousands of Great Crested Newts from development sites. Get embroiled in some tricky court battles as an expert witness too. Interesting and high pressure (from people pro- and anti- wildlife), but the pay is poor.
bobsterbrfc Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I enjoy the course so far and it's Royal Town Planning Institute accredited. It's an honest decent profession just like say teaching or surveying I'd say. Just got to hope for employment come Autmun!
dave birch Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Do you enjoy the course? Do you find it hard? It something i`m interested in But at 22 feel a bit old to start going uni, I would miss a full time wage If you want to do it, do it. If I were 22 there'd be a million things, that I'd want to do (before I get old). ###### get out there and do it. ask the questions later.
broadsword Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Agreed. It's not what you've done that you regret, it's what you didn't do.
matt65 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 27 years at a well known local aircraft company in the logistics dept, think i might actually get to like the place one day.

bobsterbrfc Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 How come those things always turn up where there are controversial developments? If there are that many of them why the fuss? I'm doing an assignment at the moment and there is evidence of these pesky scamps on the site, as a result, I may have to refuse permission since they are a protected species. I believe that the Mid-Mersey area is effectively the planet's hotspot for Great Crested Newts, a big problem in Halton and Warrington.

Looking forward to starting college in September and getting the neseccery grades for my choosen career. Go for it - 22 really isn't that old is Certainly not when you think of the years that lie ahead. I'd advise anyone to do the same. I had a dream of going to Uni and finally got there at the age of 50. Even got offered a job after by the uni! Sadly couldn't take the offer due to home pressures, but never regretted doing the course. i was a manager at BT (British Telecom) in the customer care sector of the buisness. up untill about 2 month ago when they let me go.. Was it you that wouldn't let me have that new black modem and phone despite having been a customer since BT Broadband started?... Oh well, I'm not one to bear a grudge. Best of luck in finding another job.
