bazza Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I've just read the sad news. Alan, deepest sympathy to you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your dad will have seen a lot that my dad saw, pre war and post war; a lot of heartbreak but also the good times of 1938/39; the early 50's; the Johnny Carey years; 1958; Clayton, Douglas and the rest; the early 60's. Then 1975; 1980; 1987; then Uncle Jack and upwards. Chin up, mate.
T4E Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 For as long as I can remember I have gone to matches with my dad. He didn't have a season ticket when you could pay at the gate but got one as soon as they became all ticket. May I take the opportunity on behalf of my family and myself to thank all of you for all your good wishes. It has been a source of consolation at this sad time. I'm sure he had some fantastic stories. All the best Al.

Lurid Coat Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 My deepest sympathies to you and your family, Al.
dave birch Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Al, a glass of red, a quiet room. Just to recall the memories, the good times and the bad. A tear, and that's no shame, and say thanks, dad.
