Backroom Tom Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 I may get slated for this but I still think if Stoke can beat Toon today then today has not been a bad day for us, we got one of our bad fixtures done whilst toon would have lost one of their more important ones. I don;t for one minute expect Stoke to win though 2-0 Toon

BRFC1995 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 stoke win/ man u win/ contreversial one this and boro win as well as wba this will be a great day regardless of our result...........only the chelsea match out of the last 6 i see us getting nothing from and if newcastle lose today they have'nt a prayer of making up 6 pts on us.
BRFC1995 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 our next 6 from a pessamistic view; stoke=1pt wigan=1pt city=0pt pompey=3pt chelsea=0pt wba=1pt =40pts therefore to get 41pts newcastle would need 12 from 7 ................................sunderland9 from 6 ................................boro 11 from 6 and they ain't doing it, fairly certain we are safe, newcastle losing later should confirm it
Backroom Tom Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 Hope so but the way I see it Newcastle have 3 or 4 winnable games at least and I don't see us winning many unless we get some big players back. Wigan is the game I would target as a must win as they will be close to switching off. West Brom you'd like to think we'd win but we don't want to have to go into it needing a win.
BRFC1995 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 boro's remaining fixtures fulham home ARSENAL AWAY UNITED HOME newcastle away VILLA HOME WHAM AWAY only 2 chances after today to possibly register any points, more than happy if they grt 2 more goals today to put hull below us
Backroom Tom Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 So far other results not disasterous for us today just have to pray Stoke do us a favour again though I just can't see it.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Would be useful if Hull could equalise.
Backroom Tom Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 Boro 3-1 now, oh well least it keeps Hull down there with us.
Paul Mellelieu Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I doubt Hull will get any more points this season. Could have done with a draw.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Newcastle are playing like Shearer is a PR move and Hughton/Calderwood are still in charge. Surely that can't be the case... I can see Boro pulling it off, but only at the expense of Sunderland, who are dirt-poor lately.
McClarky Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 COME ON STOKE, this could be massive if they win this 1.
Backroom Tom Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 Finished 1-1, the fact remains we are still 2 games above the relegation zone at present, if it stays that way after next week I fancy us to survive
The1mattjansen Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Just looking at Hughesys run-in tables I really think we need a point at Stoke. Theres a lot of teams down there but its quite possibly going to take 41 points or maybe even 42 with our GD.
Hughesy Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 We should really break this down. Games we should really be targetting a win, where it will most hurt. Games we should be able to get something, and then finally games where its difficult and even a point is a great result. Games we need to really need to target a win - Spurs, Stoke, Pompey, West Brom. (That gets us the magical 40 points) Games we can get something: Fulham, West Ham, Wigan, City Games where anything is a bonus: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea Still going to plan. 1 really tough game to go, 3 very winnable games, and 2 were we have a chance of getting something. Based on what I said almost 6 weeks ago - we are ahead of schedule thanks to the bonus win at Fulham and we havent failed on any of the planned other games. Next weekend is a BIG weekend. Sunderland v Hull Boro v Fulham Stoke V Rovers Spurs v Newcastle Man City v West Brom Pompey v Bolton
Backroom DE. Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 You'd expect the 3 bottom teams to lose next weekend, it's the perfect opportunity for us to really pull away. We can play as tough as Stoke, and I think, assuming our good players return, our extra quality should deliver us a 1-0, maybe 2-0 win. A draw wouldn't be a disaster, but a win would be fantastic.
Backroom Tom Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 I'd expect Boro to beat Fulham at home, Spurs away is tricky for Newcastle but it's not a forgone conclusion One thing is for sure it's in our own hands.
Hughesy Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I wouldnt expect the bottom 3 to lose next week. 1 point for the Geordies at best. 0 for West Brom, I do however think Boro will beat Fulham.
Backroom DE. Posted April 11, 2009 Backroom Posted April 11, 2009 It's an interesting one to call, but Boro beating Fulham is by no means a cert. Fulham beat Man Utd 2-0 recently after all, and although Boro beat a lacklustre Hull side 3-1 they've also recently lost 4-1 to Bolton, 1-0 to Stoke and 4-0 to Spurs. Fulham have also lost to us and to Hull... difficult to call. I'd give Fulham the nod, regardless. Can't see Newcastle getting anything from Spurs, but I said that about us and we won 2-1 so what do I know I fancy Hull to go down. Have said it all season, I don't rate them and I think they could end up down. I hope by the end it'll be between Boro, Hull, Newcastle and Sunderland. Injuries permitting, we should be ok.
Ricky Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Fulham dont travel well, their home record is excellent but their away record is very poor. Expect boro to win that one.

I think Hull City , are keeping Newcastle and possibly Middlesboro going ... A very poor team who over achieved at the start and who now are in freefall....
