Vinjay you wind me up so much.

You can't ignore history, tradition, just to hate Man United.... they may take support off us but 'hating them' would be so small time. They have City, Liverpool, Leeds.

And how are you going to get the norm being to hate United? The club aren't going to publically support the dislike of Man United. I hate Burnley, not because they're a threat to support or because I feel I should, because I was brought up not liking them and feel local pride.

Well I was brought up hating Man United when it wasn't a public hanging offense. Read that Peter White quote in my signature if you have a problem with that. I never ignored tradition it was other BRFC fans who did that for several years.

They hate those clubs because they had been established rivals AND continued to challenge them at the top. Obviously BRFC wouldn't go straight to the top of their list. Not so much Leeds now but i wasn't wrong ago they were challenging at the top.

Hating lower league clubs is "small time" and an embarrassment to potential support. Not to mention the obsessive parochial chanting in the past few seasons. How many other clubs consider a lower league side to be rivals? I have too much respect for Jack Walker legacy which he defined as the "new Blackburn Rovers" to make insulting comparisons.

I didn't bring up Man United in this thread. Others did so don't blame me for mentioning them here.

I'll never apologise for hating Man United. I always have and I'm not going to change that based on one season in 2000-2001. What are you going to do ban me for not talking about lower league clubs enough?

Go to a Man United forum and spout your rubbish, they will just laugh.

I saw your forum, which changed the lyrics of our anti Burnley songs eg No Nay Never to Man United. Why put that in terrace chants when its never been chanted?

Mate, he IS a wind up. Vinjay is just a character, what he posts is not what he actually believes, it is what he believes will get a reaction out of people. This board is easy because there aren't really any WUMs around here... Waggy's the closest we have to one, and Theno has some strong opinions which often rub people the wrong way as well. However, these two at least are arguing out of what they genuinely believe, and not posting things simply to wind others up.

Ideally the mods would ban Vinjay as it's obvious to see in pretty much every topic he posts in he's looking for trouble, however, short of them doing that you just have to view him as a character and either ignore ot laugh at his comments. He can be amusing. Just don't let him wind you up.

Villa? Pompey? If Everton went down a few years ago would liverpool stop seeing them as rivals?

Every single post on here I make is related to what I believe in. Why shouldn't I hate Man United? I hated them in 1997 after a 13th place finish. Where did BRFC finish last season? Top half as I recall so why the hell should I start obsessing nonstop about a championship side? I'm not a hypocrite I have only ever hated one club and that's because BRFC fans hated them in the first place.

Aston Villa and Portsmouth hate the biggest club within their local area. In BRFC's case Man United are probably the biggest club within the local area. Liverpool hate Man United more than Everton.

If BRFC were in Everton's position I would expect Tranmere would be considered main rivals. It's a mentality issue because BRFC fans prefer to drag this club down to their own level instead of looking up to it.

You're going to ban me for hating Man United? (in a thread where I didn't even mention them) I guess you will be calling for Jack's statue to be pulled down next. After all he refused to sell Shearer to them...because he disliked them perhaps?

I guess mentioning takeovers upsets you too. I can't even mention it in the takeover thread without abuse. If you don't like it don't read it. Yes I have mentioned takeovers and the owners in another thread. Stoke game for instance people were moaning about the owners so I joined in. Is that my fault? Did I bring it up? No. Who gets the blame though?

If it was me that called for a Lancashire Utd merger constantly the abuse for it would be 10 times worse. Nothing I've said comes close to being as bad as that but when that gets mentioned you joke with him about it. There's nothing to joke about. It's a pathetic suggestion that deserves disdain and if I said it I would get unbelievable levels of abuse.

Geordies looked poor, pompey not much better.

Pompey are now safe id say, along with us.

2 from Boro (31), Newcastle (31), Hull (34) or Sunderland (35) as I believe West Brom are down.

Game 1

Liverpool v Newcastle

Middlesbrough v Man Utd

Aston Villa v Hull

Sunderland v Everton

Game 2

Newcastle v Middlesbrough

Hull v Stoke

Bolton v Sunderland

Game 3

Newcastle v Fulham

Villa v Middlesbrough

Bolton v Hull

Portsmouth v Sunderland

Game 4

Aston Villa v Newcastle

West Ham v Middlesbrough

Hull v Man Utd

Sunderland v Chelsea

Well spotted Modes.

I'd agree with that, refuse to believe Rovers are safe yet, we could easily get beat at City next weekend and a few of those go against us and we're 3 points ahead with a dodgy goal difference. 1 more point may do it looking at the other fixtures but i'd like a win against Pompey just to get rid of any nerves going into the last 2 games.

You've confused yourself a little there. Game 3 for Boro should be v villa.

Note towards Vinjay: Do not mention Man U or Lancashire utd in this thread please

I didn't bring them up first.

I really did expect Newcastle to win tonight, appointing Shearer hasn't had anything like "the new manager bounce" effect I was expecting.

Part of me wants Newcastle to go down because it's very funny to see any "big club" struggling, part of me wants them to stay up because my daughter is hoping to go to Northumbria Uni in Newcastle in September and it'd be a bloody good night out up there if we were to play them!

wba turn spuds over this week, newcastle lose to liverpool and hull and sunderland get nowt. All the bottom teams will have 31pts with hull in sight and hull are liable to ship several against united last day and wba's last 2 games for them are winnable against wigan and us.

due to the complete dross that is boro hull and barcodes, there is no way wba are giving up.........spuds game is massive for them, hope they do it just not at our expense

too much to hope for that sunderland boro and newcastle all go. that miserable old sod who works for a paper up there that skysports keep getting quotes off will top himself....................hopefully that nob who covers the north east for skysports will be out of a job as well.

Daily Mail seem pretty confident the end is near for newcastle. It also mentions they have 40 professionals on their books - their wages will cripple them!!

Daily Mail

From the Mail.........

"Before kick-off Shearer was forced to watch with the rest of us as a local opera singer led the home support in a painful rendition of Blaydon Races, perhaps the worst attempt at a Geordie standard since Paul Gascoigne and Lindisfarne got together to butcher Fog on the Tyne all those years ago.

It was a cheap and desperate attempt to inspire Newcastle. And it failed.

It would seem Newcastle have opera singers who can't sing, as well as footballers who can't play."

Happy days at last..... I hope.

For the first time in weeks, I'm now looking up instead of down the table.

We are not safe yet but after this weekends results, even Stoke are within reach. If, if and if, I know it's a lot of ifs but I'm now looking at 7 points from the remaining games. previously I had is down for 4.

If we could finish in 11th place after what has gone before, it would be a tremendous effort from all, fans included.

I can't wait for the Pompey and WBA game, last game I saw at Ewood was the L'arse game.

 I'm bigchrissamba on there. Some of you should think of joining me...

* for gritty read dirty, vindictive, violent football.

The sort of football Newcastle will be encountering every week next season if they drop. God I hope Boro do them.
