Blue blood Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Shearer to date is not showing that he is a great manager. One - that is ONE - win against a dire Boro side is not exactly an exceptional managerial performance. Added to which, he's got the likes of Duff, Owen, Viduka, Martins as his forwards which is a heck of a lot more talent then any of the others in the bottom 4. Given that he should stay up. The real managers of the season down at the bottom are Big Sam - 5 points adrift to comfortably safe, Pullis - hardly any talent in the Stoke team but comfortably safe. Even the portsmouth manager - Hart has done a better job. I really hope they go down or failing that, Shearer stays on next season and gets fully found out then.

tony gale's mic Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Was supporting United vs Wigan (much to Vinjay's annoyance I'm sure), since it'll mean they'll most likely field a massively weakened side vs Hull (I heard a rumour that Ferguson was gonna pick as many as 5 debutants), making it more likely that Newcastle might go down.
CAPT KAYOS Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Crazy as it may seem and despite their poor form I still reckon Hull will win one of their last two games. On the same level I think WBA wil take something off Liverpool Squeaky bum time will be at the Pompey v Sunderland -Pompey win and we are safe regardless
Hughesy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I think Hull will pick up a minimum of another 2 points, possibly 4. Its up to newcastle to beat that, hopefully they wont. It would be great going into the final day with Newcastle needing to win @ Villa to keep them up and hope that Hull lose.
Backroom DE. Posted May 15, 2009 Backroom Posted May 15, 2009 I'd love for Hull to pick up something and send the Geordies back into despair, but if they can't beat Stoke at home... well, their form since Xmas tells its own story. One point at Notlob might be enough to save them.
Hughesy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Im hoping Bolton 'let' Hull win now that they are safe, and therefore potentially getting rid of a rival (Newcastle) via relegation
LeChuck Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Squeaky bum time will be at the Pompey v Sunderland -Pompey win and we are safe regardless I'd rather a draw, then a Sunderland win. We need every £750k per place we can get so I don't want Portsmouth going above us.
champions1995 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 It wouldn't be the first time United have had a major say in the relegation battle after being crowned champions. In 2007, they played a West Ham side, who if they had lost would have been relegated, but instead the Hammers won 1-0. I really hope Hull do stay up and send Newcastle down. Every bad run comes to an end, but is it going to come to an end in time? I still feel Sunderland are very vulnerable, as they have Pompey away and Chelsea at home. I can see Newcastle winning one of their last two games, so I think they will just get out of it, but a win for Hull would put Sunderland in massive trouble.
BPF Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I want Newcastle to go down...Very badly. I can see Shearer ending up with one win and staying up on goal difference though, just to make it that little bit more annoying. I will love it (in a Keegan style way) if Fulham and Villa do them and Hull get a point from somewhere. We are safe now (Don't want to temp fate but...come on) so my hatred for Newcastle dictates i'm supporting Fulham and Villa for the rest of the season.
T4E Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I want Newcastle to go down...Very badly. Me too, I'm a massive Hull fan this weekend
Hughesy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 That makes 3 of us.... Im actually considering going to the Hull game tomorrow and supporting them, in the bolton end, with a rovers shirt on! ha ha
Blue blood Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Make that 4. Perhaps - not by the media but by real football fans - one of the most disliked clubs outside the big 4?
gumboots Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Make that 4. Perhaps - not by the media but by real football fans - one of the most disliked clubs outside the big 4? 5, 6, 7, 8 and probably 9 and 10 as my entire family are desperately hoping Newcastle get relegated. Hull was a decent club to visit and both fans and stewards were very friendly. Have hated Newcastle since childhood, being a Boro fan.
jim mk2 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Hull were training at Brockhall today after a 2-day break in the Lake District. Allardyce gave the go-ahead because of his friendship from Bolton days with Hull boss Phil Brown. Until we are mathematically guaranteed survival should we be helping our relegation rivals ?
Backroom Tom Posted May 15, 2009 Backroom Posted May 15, 2009 I would also love Newcastle to go down but have given up hope of it happening, I think they'll win on Saturday and if they do I hope Hull just pick up a point. Safety before greed.
Stuart Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 That makes 3 of us.... Im actually considering going to the Hull game tomorrow and supporting them, in the bolton end, with a rovers shirt on! ha ha Good luck with that. A Sunderland fan I know had to get a ticket in the Bolton end because the away allocation was sold out. As an aside, apparently Megson was being spoken to by the referee at some point and threatened with being sent to the stands. Most of the Bolton fans around him were shouting "Off, off, off..."
den Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 If only Arsenal could win at Old Trafford in a few minutes time. That in itself would ensure United wont lose to Hull, thus make us safe without any of the sides at the bottom being involved.
American Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 There was an article a while back about how Sam talks to Sbragia and Brown all of the time and exchange info. Of course, the article appeared the day after Sunderland got thumped by West Brom! If they help each other out, then Brown's tips might be the reason we're (mostly) safe.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 If they help each other out, then Brown's tips might be the reason we're (mostly) safe. Surely if Brown was a relegation mastermind, Hull wouldn't be in the bottom three?
chocky Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 We could be mathematically safe tonight without lifting a finger...
Manc Rover Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Get in there. Here's hoping it all stays like this come 5 o'clock! Hilarious!
Rovers in America Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Hull level There's nothing bad about Hull getting points today. If Newcastle lose or draw today, we're mathematically safe regardless, so my energy is focused toward Fulham winning that one. Then I could care less what Hull does, although putting them above Newcastle would be nice.
tony gale's mic Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Hull starting to find their feet at the Reebok, Barmby hit the woodwork. If Hull and Boro can nick one it would be the perfect day. ..and again, Marney should have put one away. Certainly the better side right now.
