Gus Gus Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I could post things that have already been posted on this thread about how losing Emerton is a huge blow. Or I could just post some emoticons that sum up my feelings. That is all.

Rover4ever Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Isnt this the first time Emerton is out for more than a couple of weeks? its a huge blow as he is so energetic and probably covered more ground than anyone else. Apart from Tugay he is also our longest serving player..... I dont get what it with our active/bulldog type players getting destroyed through injury, Reid, Savage and now Emerton
Bobby G Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Time for some experimentation I think in terms of one or two players maybe.
Majiball Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Time for some experimentation I think in terms of one or two players maybe. Couldn't agree more. -------Grella-------- Tugay----------MGP Benni--RSC----Roberts/Spit This injury has really made a hole in our team. I can't remember Spit ever playing wide in a four, I wonder if he can get up and down enough. As always our midfield gets weaker and weaker, I hope its strong enough and we still have some money left for the summer to improve it.
Montfort Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Emerton is the only player who springs to mind who has consistently performed well all this season under both managers. ). Just my feelings entirely. As an example I remember the Grimsby game when we went 1 nil down and everyone looked lost for a time. it was only Emerton who figuratvely rolled his sleeves up and looked like he was determined and able to get us back in the game. Probably not describing this as well as i should but hopefully you get my meaning. Hope he reads BRFCS and realises how much he is appreciated. A golden period in his career as well
joey_big_nose Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Huge blow for the club. Perhaps does not posess the greates flair but he covers an enormous amount of ground and is very defensively solid in midfield. We will certainly miss him. I am pretty sure this will prompt a move to 4231/433. ------------------Cruz ----Pedersen----Dunn-------Diouff ------------Grella-----Tugay Warnock---Nelsen---Samba----Ooijer -----------------Robinson Actually not a bad team.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I think we'd be okay with that JBN. But swap Grella and Tugay because Pedersen and Warnock can handle the left hand side easily, but Spit and Ooijer might need a helping hand. So Grella covering them might strengthen the right hand side.
The Prof. Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Oh no! 9 months - he has had good and bad games for me but this could be a career ender and he doesn't deserve that at all. I would love to know who on the board mooted the idea of making do with a converted right back in the first place in midfield. Probably our paciest player. Someone should be holding their hand up to this and apologising to the fans. We so badly needed a replacement for Bentley but we made do and we so badly needed two midfielders by Christmas that the board need to hang their heads in shame. &@//@(£'s.
Nelsonfan Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Terrible to hear of an injury like this that is going to keep any player out for any length of time, but more so because Emerton has been one of our most consistent players since last year. Best of luck with his recovery.
Kelbo Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Good Luck and a quick recovery Brett, you will be missed at Ewood!! Bet you were XXX when it happened, never mind, back in Oz probably a few XXX a day to aid the recovery Kelbo
adopted scouser Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Spoke to him just now. He confirmed the six months, told him he'd be missed.
philipl Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Brett to have the op in Australia this week.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Emerton targets pre-season return <snip> "Everything's going really well," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "I've been running for quite some time now and I'll be looking to rejoin the team during pre-season." Emerton added: "The longest spell before this is probably two to three weeks so it's something I haven't encountered before during my career." And Emerton has said staving off relegation last season has given him an extra incentive to regain his place in the starting line-up. "I'm so much more relaxed now because when I was injured I couldn't help thinking I'd like to be out there helping the boys," he said. </snip>

Come on Bert!
imy9 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 A very interesting article about Brett, revealing a lot about the man,, hope he is fit for the start of the season, cant see him being back before September. http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/football/...8457701262.html
bob fleming Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Thanks for posting that. We've missed him big time. When he's played in the middle of the park he has done some really good stuff, hopefully he won't have lost his "engine". Keep going Bert Mk II - we need your energy and commitment back.

One of my favourite players, gives his all 100% with his workrate and determination. A great athlete who will come back stronger IMO.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Isn't it MKIII we want? The centre midfield version? MKI was right wing. MKII was right back. MKIII was centre midfield.
bob fleming Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 He could probably play right wing again at the moment. Not too much to keep out there (although I haven't seen Eddie Van Halen or whatever his name is yet). Having said that Mk I Bert wasn't very good. Mk III it probably is then.

bob fleming Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Dioooooooouf With pace so I've read Hughesy?!? Good news if true in all fairness to the Diouf. Have they built a slope at Elland Road?
den Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 With pace so I've read Hughesy Yeah I read that as well. Where's he got that from then?
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Yeah I read that as well. Where's he got that from then? Lost some weight? full preseason under his belt? Keep in mind we bought him in January where he played mainly a bench role at Sunderland.
LeChuck Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Emerton close to making comeback. There are some reassuring quotes about him feeling 'as good as ever' in there. I can't wait for him to get back, we desperately miss his energy and ability to carry the ball. I wonder where he'll play though? For me it seems almost certain he'll play in centre midfield; Diouf is an Allardyce favourite on the right and we've got loads at right back.
Hughesy Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Should hopefully play a part on saturday - last 30 mins for him would be good to see.
