I've followed Frank Field's work with interest for decades . It remains for me the worst of Blair's many awful legacies that he sacked Field after just a few short months of their first term in office . With the backing of a less shallow PM Field could have rivalled Bevan in the ranks of great social reformers . Sadly it will never be ; the current PM is just as short sighted as his predecessor .
