[Archived] All Time Premiership Xi

Recommended Posts

Bit harsh on Bowyer, he was a brilliant goalscoring box-to-box midfielder whilst at Leeds. Like so many other players, his career went permanently downhill when he decided to join Newcastle.

This was my all time PL XI Chuck

I would go with:

Schmeical

G.Neville Ferdinand Adams Irwin

Veira

Gerrard Keane

Cantona

Shearer Henry

I was thinking about Ronaldo but at the moment he has at best had 2 good seasons. the guys in my team sustained world class performances for a number of years.

Here's another one - if you had to pick a current Premiership eleven, but could only pick one player from any team, who would you go for (It's quite difficult actually)

I think mine would be:

Given (Man City)

Johnson (Portsmouth)

Warnock (Rovers)

Upson (West Ham)

Jagielka (Everton)

Ronaldo (Man Utd)

Fabregas (Arsenal)

Lampard (Chelsea)

Young (Villa)

Torres (Liverpool)

Defoe (Spurs)

If I'd have picked a subs bench I'd have put Andy Cole on it. I think he's the all-time leading Premiership goalscorer from open play (he wasn't a penalty taker remember). I think I'm right in saying that only Bergkamp and Giggs have more assists from open play as well.

Good shout - got me thinking though - if I was to pick an "all time premiership substitute" I could look no further than Solksjaer (however you spell it)

If it was a team that had to work together I would probably put Sheringham alongside Shearer instead of Henry I think - what a shame we never got to see them play together at club level.

Umm.. I woud probably stick Stuart Pearce in there as well...

Cant believe people have left out Van der Sar!! He just broke a record for having the most clean sheets, he is surely worth a mention

He's not that special of a keeper imo, very mistake prone he just has the fortune of playing behind a spectacular team, would be interesting to see how many saves he's had to make in those games.

At Fulham he didnt have a good defence in front of him and he always stood out, won champions league with two clubs and has a reputation of doing well in penalty shootouts in big games and he's brought stability to a United defence that was never the same since Schmeichel left. He's an outstanding keeper.

I'll never get VDS' gifting us the 3-4 Easter match with letting in 2 soft goals.

One of the reasons that he has such a streak is that Ferdinand has been mentioned by several on here, and I could argue that Vidic is better.

Actually Shearer is still the leading scorer from open play. I saw a Martin Tyler article on Sky Sports a couple of weeks ago on this exact topic.
