Al Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Probably need to fine a few motorists to increase their prosecutions tally and fill the coffers a bit more. Maybe the cameras are becoming less effective as motorists get used to their locations.
3rdpillar Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 It is not just highly visable patrol cars. There have been a numebr of signting of low key cars stopping vehicles. My company has 50+ vehicles in the area, this has been noted by a good few of them. So people be careful and mindful out there!
blue phil Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I suppose it could be part of a crackdown on those involved in drug dealing , prostitution , grooming and the like . Very unlikely , though - there's not much of a precedent in the cops doing that kind of work round these parts . Al's probably right .........it'll be summat to do with fleecing the average bloke who happens to own a car .
3rdpillar Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Al's probably right .........it'll be summat to do with fleecing the average bloke who happens to own a car . Avgerage bloke who looks like they can afford to pay the fine and won't be a source of endless paperwork and beaurocracy more like.
roversmum Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 They've been at it round here, too, hiding in the bushes with speed cameras, strangely enough (after the talk on the speed camera thread) just around after school time...
MCMC1875 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 BBC news reporting 9 arrested and 3 detained on the M65 last night in an anti-terrorism operation.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 BBC news reporting 9 arrested and 3 detained on the M65 last night in an anti-terrorism operation. Shh. Lets ignore that and continue with our tirade against the police and their obvious bias against those motorists who always stick to speed limit and never do a piffle. Framed, they are.
1864roverite Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 JHC some moan when they cant be seen some moan when they can be seen Is this the job where the bias equals out 50/50 ??
gillibrand Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 The police are searching five houses in Burnley under the Anti Terrorism Act, just been on Sky News!!
Backroom Tom Posted February 14, 2009 Backroom Posted February 14, 2009 I never quite get the outrage against speed camera's and the like. I've been done myself but it's a fair cop, you go over the limit your quite right to be done for it. The only gripe I have is I think speed limits in certain area's should be changed depending on the time of day etc
JAL Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 The police are searching five houses in Burnley under the Anti Terrorism Act, just been on Sky News!! The vans stopped had vehicle livery on saying 'Blackburn UK to Gaza' seems to me from a sceptical point of view that the police are trying to hide embarrassing our own 'Black Jack' Straw by failing to mention Blackburn but mention Burnley instead.
thenodrog Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/...e_terror_swoop/ Thats odd! Shouldn't that headline in the LT read 'Relief over Lancashire terror swoop'? Also I wonder how it can concern the Lancashire Council of Mosques enough to arrange emergency clandestine meetings?
thenodrog Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 and shoes! Things anybody else would put in the bin. Moving on................. A 4000 mile round trip including 4 sea crossings in a van that does about 25mpg will likely cost more than the value of it's important and desperately needed cargo of second hand toys and worn out shoes won't it? Also why do 5 have to go all the way with it? Thats using the weight limit up unecessarily. Also was the windowless van correctly equipped and insured to carry 8 passengers? If there had been a crash it could have become a weapon of mass destruction.
3rdpillar Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 looks like plod is out there looking for an obvious terrorist sympathiser, or terrorist victim sympathiser. do you think they know the difference? Wonder if the vans were taxed insured and MOT'd ?
gillibrand Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 At least plod is looking, just hope they find what caused this scare .
