High time we had a thread to discuss stuff from leagues worldwide.

Good weekend coming up in Italy as it is the Milan derby, Inter slight favourites but Milan have been in good form over the last few games. Good news is that the game is being shown Live in the UK on BBC 3.

Excellent, i'll be cheering on the Rossoneri.

I only support one club and thats Rovers but ever since i was a youngster i've always followed Milan's progress (due to imo one of the best kits in world football and great players such as Maldini, Baresi and Van Basten), i always used to watch them when they were on Football Italia on C4.

Looking forward to the derby. Bellamy11 and I went a few years back when Inter won 3-2. Was a totally different experience to going to football here. Before the game the Inter fans brought out big banners celebrating Liverpool's win in the Champions League final.

Also we were in the stand down the side of the pitch and the AC/Inter fans were not segregated at all which was a surprise.

Ha ha that is excellent, I would love to go to watch this.

I have a soft spot for Inter, as a kid used to watch Italian football a lot when it was on Channel 4 and grew to love Inter when they had their superb team in the early late eighties/early nineties which contained the three brilliant Germans (Brehme, Matthiaus and Klinsmann).

Should be a great match tomorrow night as Milan have been in good form since the turn of the year and Inter played really well last week.

So do I as it is the closest to an English club abroad. I also like the copy of the best Rovers Away Kit as well :brfcsmilie: :brfcsmilie: :brfcsmilie:

I like the idea of this thread. Most football fans would be interested in football in other countries. I would always look out for certain teams results from other countries. I would be a big follower of Stade Rennes in France. They would be close my house in France and would go and see them play every year when I'm out there. They were looking like they could really challenge Lyon for the title this season, but they have lost two of their last three games and drew the other one and now find themselves eight points behind. I would also watch a fair bit of the Bundesliga, which comes with Setanta and would always keep an eye out for Schalke 04's results. Being Irish, I'm a massive Celtic fan and I'm going to Glasgow for the Old Firm tomorrow. Celtic haven't been playing well lately and have managed to lose their seven point lead, which now stands at two. Form goes out the window when these two teams play each other and Celtic need to win, to make up for the good beating that Rangers gave us at Park Head at the start of the season.

Barcelona drew 2-2 last night after being 2-0 down, if Real Madrid win tonight they can close the gap, although it will still be 10 points.

It must be the first time they've not won in la Liga for ages! Pretty amazing, they've scored over 100 goals this season with 68 of them in La Liga.

Good Milan derby tonight. Inter dominated the game for 60 odd minutes and should have been 4 up, then Milan start to get on top, score one, have one disallowed and create clear cut chances to get an equaliser but Inter manage to hold on for a vital victory which puts then 9 points clear. However, if they defend like this against United they will lose.

Thought it was a good game also. Pity about BBC's coverage. The whole first half the commentry was ahead of the video, added to the fact that Mark Bright is a terrible commentator! Would be nice if BBC managed to get at least 1 game a week from Italy.

Yeah I hope so too as I miss my weekly fix of Italian football!

In Spain, Real Madrid won so they have closed the gap to 10 points. Barcelona still odds on to win the league but at least this gives the chasing pack some hope of catching them.

Isn't Pato wasted as a lone forward. When he dropped deep he looked so threatening with his skill and pace. Seems stupid to make him play a sort target role.

AC Milan were flashy but directionless and Inter were dull and direct.

Some of the players on that pitch have unbelievable skill but imo they hold back too much. If only they'd express themselves, that'd be real footy.

Things are really hotting up in Spain as the La Liga title enters the final furlong.

Barcelona's 12 point lead is now down to 4 points after consecutive defeats to Espanyol and Athletico Madrid, the Athletico match last weekend was an amazing match which Atheltico won right at the death. Ramos has turned round Madrid and they are rolling now. I think that this weekend sky are showing 4 live games.

In Italy Inter are still top and 7 points clear of Juventus, I can't see Inter blowing the title.

I´ve just been to a couple of games in Colombia this last week and the atmosphere is just something else. Im not quite old enough to remember the fighting days in England and im not condoning it at all, but the mischievousness that goes on before games definately adds to the atmosphere somehow. Or perhaps its just a characteristic of the people, given their way of life, that gives them more of a wild attitude, such as the working classes who were a lot worse off and at the heart of Englands troubles back in the day.

The noise isn´t as loud as an English ground in terms of sheer volume, but thats only when an English crowd is in full voice whereas these guys bounce up and down constantly for 90 minutes and have some cracking tunes to the chants. Its nothing to do with the standard of play either, which is probably league two standard, and they will be singing just as loud if there 4-0 down. I´m not sure how its going to feel when I eventually land back to Ewood to hear the occasional "get into em". We could learn a lot.

For anyone interested, do a search on youtube for Deportivo Cali, or the Cali Classico, America Cali v Deportivo Cali.
