Ray-Von Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Yes, a player by the name of Neil Wilkinson. He was on ITN news last night. He suffers from Pick's disease which sounds pretty nasty. It showed some pictures in his playing days - it looked circa. 1974 - 1975 ish, so its before my time. Any others members remember his playing days?
Hanks Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I vaguely remember him, played right fullback but he was never a regular,
only2garners Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 According to my trusty Mike Jackman he was a Rover from 72/73 to 76/77 and made 35 full appearances and 4 substitute with no goals. Given that record and the dates I must have sen him play but honestly cannot remember him.
thenodrog Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Went to Witton Park school, played for Rovers and emigrated to South Africa. I'm similar age and although I never knew him lots of my mates went to school with him.
LynV Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Went to Witton Park school, played for Rovers and emigrated to South Africa. I'm similar age and although I never knew him lots of my mates went to school with him. I went to Witton Park and am a year or two younger than him. Did not know him well but remember him playing for the Rovers. Very sad news!
