I've been a big critic of his for awhile, but like most, think he has been excellent in our last two games. He's too slow to be a winger, but the left hand side of a three man midfield suits him perfectly.

The positional switch definitely makes sense, considering his lack of pace and hit-and-miss return with crosses. Hopefully if he stays in a central role it will result in more shooting opportunities as well.

If Fenerbache offer us £2.1 million for him, I'd be inclined to take it. He did play well last night and Sam seems to have found a position for him on the left hand side of a three man midfield. But I can't help thinking about how utterly crap he's been for the past couple of seasons. I'd be worried that if he did get a new contract out of us, then he would start to revert back to his old useless self and then no one would be willing to drop £2.1 million on him. If selling him meant bringing in an exciting young player like Ibricic, then I wouldn't be against it.

Football manager player?

Nah. I played a little bit FM before, but I didnt attend school nor talk to anyone for a couple of days. I even brought my laptop in the toilet with me. I get totally addicted - therefore not playing it anymore.

I read that it is probably 15% on a Tromsø messageboard.

I only caught the end of the second half yesterday so I am not too clear what formation we played. Does anyone know?

On current form you would have to say that Pedersen looks our best central midifelder (how we could have done with discovering that three months ago...) so if I was Sam I would be tempted to keep. However, if he is looking for over 35k I think we simply can't afford to have him on the books.

2.1m for a player out of contract in the summer is fantastic business. We need to get in quality though.

According to that Norwegian story Fenerbahce could be offering him over £50k/wk, so if that's true, we'd probably have to go even beyond £35k/wk.

Games - 222

Goals - 37

Assists - 43

This season he has 5 goals & 4 assists and is looking more like the old Pedersen

Compared to 1 goal and 9 assists last season. In 07-08 he scored 6 and had 8 assists.

the last 3 or 4 games maybe

he's been awful this season in general

SSN reporting 'Rovers are confident Pedersen will sign a new long term deal with the club'.

good, it means he is interested and his recent performances arent just to get a move away. I think hes had his head turned and got a bit complacent and he has lots of other interests in Norway. Nobody can doubt his talent

And the rest of the team have been magnificent? THe way I see it Morten is a player who doesnt open games by himself, if the team dont play well, he wont either. Espesially when we play with a CB at LB. Works hard, progably puts inn more miles then anyone else inn the team and his crosses have been brilliant lately. Bad business to let him leave for nothing. He is only 28 years, plays for his national team and is proven PL player.

He's worth more to us on the pitch than the money we would get for him right now. Sam putting him in the middle has given him a new lease of life and seems to have recaptured some of his early form. Does he deserve a contract? I think he has enough talent to warrant one.

He's a useful player and in form he can win us a game, ie on Saturday. If we're re signing the Pedersen who has been playing in the centre of midfield, then im all for it.

Find me a player with his proven quality, for the money......!!!!!

oh and he has to want to play for the Rovers.....dont quote any Messi / Kaka type names pie in the sky dream players

He's been coasting for seasons, and now he's pulled his finger out for a new deal suddenly he's the bomb?

It's not my job to scout footballers, but we already have players like Olsson and Hoilett with enough promise to replace Pedersen. I'd prefer the time and money invested into them, rather than bumping Pedersen's stay here.

I agree about Olsson and Hoilett, but we've only seen them play a handful of games, who knows how they'll do over the rest of the season and in future seasons. They might drop in form just like Pedersen and McCarthy did.

I'm really torn on this.

If his new found form had come from the left wing I'd totally agree with what you've written there. However, as it's also coincided with a change of position it's a tough one. If, as it looks at the moment, he could be a 10 goals a season man from the middle of midfield, he's definitely worth keeping.

To be honest, I think I'd rather we got rid of Reid, Andrews and Grella if possible and kept Pedersen. I realise finding suitors for the other three is much more difficult though.

The way I see it is simple.....we have Andrews, Roberts & Reid that I would rather see leave before him (Although Reid does still have time to prove himself).

If we tie him to a new deal for say 3 years then at least we have protected an asset and if he has another purple patch we could sell him for decent money......The new deal also should be highly incentive based!
