Sam being quoted in the Mirror Must admit I am uneasy about us conducting contract negotiations with our own players in the tabloid press.

Agreed. Don't like all this talk in the paper crap, Sam seems to be 'at it' most days! (Although hopefully not like John Terry!)

Do hope Pedersen signs however. I think that even when he's playing badly he puts a decent shift in, and is certainly a willing participant. For all his knocks, Pedersen constantly TRIES to do whats right - always asking for the ball and ATTEMPTING to play. I'm sure people will probably knock me for making that point and that I'm blowing air out of my arse, but watch him for 15 minutes the next time he's playing badly and getting A LOT of stick!

He's been utter crap for 3 1/2 years, last six months of his contract and he finds some form. You think that's a coincidence? Just confirms what I've thought for awhile now - he's got no heart and no fight in him. I thought he'd lost his bottle, which was bad enough, but now it would seem he didn't care about anything but himself.

I'm not saying what you're saying definitely isnt true, but it has also coincided with him being moved infield and finding a new role...this could well have played a big role too.

I must admit it is a strange way of going about things. But we also do not know if Sam was asked a question about Pederson and then answered. The writer of the article could also of added his own spin, interpretation of Sams answer. It is difficult when we have not heard the conversation ourselves. But if Sam has contacted the paper himself and then given that story then, imo that is a wrong way about doing things.

I would give Pederson a new contract because the new position he is now playing in is getting the best out of him. There isn't really anybody else in the market that Rovers could afford to replace him. It pushes Andrews further out of the squad - at the moment it has only pushed Andrews to the bench. Even though there are games when Pederson has played badly, I do not think any of us can complain about the effort he puts in - he does at least track back and helps the defence - then there are times when he plays very good. I would rather have Pederson play for Rovers than against Rovers. Becaue on his day he can be a very good player - I hope his confidence has grown in recent weeks and he gets back to playing the way we all know he can play.

So moving him inside has suddenly given him the ability to tackle, pass and shoot straight again? Has it also helped him forget how to f**k up every little thing he tries? If only moving 20 yards further in field did that to every player, we could try it with Diouf.

If he does sign a new contract and his form dips again he is surely a saleable asset... Hopefully he'll stay here and build on his recent performances but if not I've no doubt there'd be takers for him at £1m-£2m...

Problem is, from Allardyce's latest comments, he's either keen to get MGP signed up for another 3 or so years of flattering to deceive, or he's playing a canny game to try to drum up interest.

I have this nightmare vision of him signing on for another 3 years, and as soon as he does, retreating into his old ways.

He'll probably sign on for us, as we're such an easy meal ticket for him. going off to Turkey would mean leaving his comfort zone.

I've played on the wing and then been moved inside, and from personal experience You get move chances to score, hense he's scored more goals.

You have more passing options available to you and it let's you be more creative; rather than just looking to cross into the box.

And being in the middle, you have no choice but to get more involved with tackling because it's not just you vs a full back and sometimes a winger.

Hope this might enlighten you and hopefully help you look passed your personal hatred towards Pedersen

Shame, that was a decent post before you ruined it with a pointless throwaway cheapshot at the end.

While he is good form we have to keep him. A new contract will stop him walking away for free at the end of the season. We simply can't afford to let anyone go for free. If his form stays, it will be like a new signing. If not we can still get a fee for him. He's a proven premiership player, and would certainly have potential buyers if it proved necessary.

You sure about that? I can't remember any clubs being linked with Pedersen over the past 2-3 seasons (the period where he has been rubbish). There was the Spurs interest when he was at his peak, but as soon as he signed a new deal and went in serious decline i don't remember a single club reportedly showing an interest.

Even with his contract running out you haven't seen a load of clubs rushing to sign him on a pre-contract, doesn't that tell you something?

40k+ per week for the next 3 years with a huge risk of him going back to his rubbish self? It should be no deal IMO.

Of course we'll resign him, along with David "Mr. Glass" Dunn.

Reid will be next and we'll have 3 more years of Hughesey's "lets get shut" threads with no-one actually wanting to buy any of these players. The wage bill will remain 99.9% of the club's income, we'll sell N'Zonzi and Samba, and we still won't be able to buy a decent central midfielder as John Williams sets his stage for a 2024 "trading, but not selling" club. The manager will be sacked and a replacement brought in, with the promise of, but in reality no, money to spend.

And for the cherry on on the cake, Vinshittzo Grella will "find form" and stay fit for at least 2 more games before his contract expires and guess what... "It will be like a new signing" some will say, and that will be that.

Oh yes, and we'll re-sign Keith and Diouff. Well, we wouldn't want anybody to take them for free, would we? And the club will be re-named Collectomaniac Rovers. 184 midfielders and not one cross between them.

It is written in the scriptures.

Please excuse my jaundice.

Wasn't meant as a cheap shot, just a conclusion to my post

If you've come to the conclusion that my criticism and disdain for Pedersen is due to some sort of personal hatred (which would be a tad tricky for a man I've never met by the way) then you really haven't understood my point of view at all. It was easier to regard it as a throwaway cheapshot rather than actually think you believed it.

I hope he doesn't sign a new contract.. he's been so poor for the last 3/4 years... it's unreal. If he signs he'll just go back to being the pedersen we know.. a player who can't beat the first man from corners, can't beat the wall from free kicks, can't cross, can't pass and can't shoot...

Saying something personal and having a personal hatred are quite different. For the record, I think he's a professional pussy. In more ways than one.

I agree,

a personal hatred: no matter what a certain person does someone will always hold a grudge against them no matter what.

I.e. you're statement about Pedersen bein a c*nt no matter how many goals he scores.

p.s. How many ways can you be a "professional pussy"?

My comment about Pedersen scoring goals in the last 6 months of his contract has been explained a few times, and grasped by seemingly everyone other than yourself.

Well, my primary point was that I regard MGP as all the things I said in terms of his conduct as a professional, not in terms of his personality. However, I do believe that he is that much of a pussy that he could likely make a living out of it. Infact, some may say he already does.

I understand you think that he's only started scoring goals in the last 6 months because you believe he's only playing for a new contract.

But as i pointed out; his change of position could well have contributed to his goal scoring, which you seemed to agree with.

All that considered, I cant find any other reason for you to think that he's a c*nt for scoring goals other than you just generally dislike the guy..

No player goes on to the pitch not wanting to play their best game. Then when a contract renewal comes round thinks "f**k it, I'll do a bit"

Pedersen has only ever done well when there is a man over to help him out. When benni was a regular, he used to spend a lot of time out on the left plus support from Warnock. Now he only looks good as the 2nd of 2 left-sided midfielders. Man on man he's rubbish and always has been in my view. I can just about stomach building a formation around Dunn, but not MGP
