philipl Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Well I still want him to stay. Keeping my fingers crossed he does.

Majiball Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 "Expert" opinion also thinks Keith Andrews is a Premier League midfielder. What say you to that? Pedersen is no longer a threat on the wing, and after a handful of bright spots in centre-midfield he soon returned to his mediocre displays. I'm no scout. I don't know who we can sign. But I'm fully confident we can improve on Pedersen, who's contributing the bare minimum. Ask yourselves why nobody's snapped him up yet - Because he's a very average player. His set-pieces are poor but so frequent he eventually hits the target. And his long throw is harmless. He doesn't even have goals to his game anymore. Of course I agree with him completely, Keith has my undying support and I do think he's more than up to participating in the premiership. Just perhaps not as a player, I hear he's good at carrying water bottles so perhaps he could be our Adam Sandler. I wonder if he's been getting water boy comments at Brockhall??? We just have to agree to disagree on this one, I've more than said my piece on the subject and I won't change my views this time. I don't disagree that he's not at his best and off course we could do better, but with other area's being a priority and our budget being peanuts again its just not the right time to be looking to do it. Regardless of his contract situation its asking too much IMO to add in 4 first teamers with what we have to spend and build on this years position. Who knows perhaps with someone in the middle with him a nd N'zonzi who can actually run and spot a pass we might see some more from him.
Hughesy Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 "Expert" opinion also thinks Keith Andrews is a Premier League midfielder. What say you to that? Erm Andrews plays for a premier league club....therefore that statement is correct - Whether he is good enough or not for us in the future....only Sam can decide!
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 If we've got the chance to move him on let's do it. In fact let me know where he's going and I'll carry him on my back. He's not on his own our current midfield must be the poorest we've had in the Premiership, the point is his contract is up - get rid whilst we can. I've had my doubts from the first game he played against the red rats, he was so one paced I couldn't believe it. Absolutely no pace, no aggression, doesn't know how to beat a man and treats the ball like a hot brick. I can still see him skying that guilt edged shooting chance into row Z that day ! Just because he's banged a few vital goals people are prepared to forget his workrate is next to zero, anyway fool can jog from touch line to touch line, we need someone that will let the opposition know he's playing. The other week against the rats he let that lightweight Nani go right through him on a 50/50 ball just outside our box, he hopping away holding his foot like the spineless waster he is. If he's that good why aren't other Prem teams banging on our door if they can take him on a free ? If our scouting system can't find a better winger to give £ 30,000 a week to they ought to hang their heads in shame. To think I used to moan about Jason Wilcox, he was twice the player Pedersen ever was. I'd have Stephen Hunt anyday, he'd be better even with a broken bone in his foot !
Neil Weaver Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 To think I used to moan about Jason Wilcox Why am I not surprised at this revelation?
Exiled_Rover Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 And if he does sign then perhaps it's time for some of those who are so anti-Pedersen it's unbelievable to give him a bit of support and actually see if that works rahter than booing him and criticising his every move. Might work wonders. Equally it might not, but you never know. It probably would work wonders for Pedersen, but that's because he's soft mentally.
Amo Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Erm Andrews plays for a premier league club....therefore that statement is correct - Whether he is good enough or not for us in the future....only Sam can decide! That doesn't make him Premier League quality. Don't be a pedantic foo'.
super_arran Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 "Expert" opinion also thinks Keith Andrews is a Premier League midfielder. What say you to that? I love it when people use the "expert" quote. Lets face it, compared to us; Sam is the expert on football. That's why we're sat on our pc's writing on a messageboard and he's the manager of a Premier League football club.
Amo Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I love it when people use the "expert" quote. I was simply using Majiball's own expression. Lets face it, compared to us; Sam is the expert on football. That's why we're sat on our pc's writing on a messageboard and he's the manager of a Premier League football club. Yet his decisions are not infallible or above reproach.
super_arran Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I was simply using Majiball's own expression. Yet his decisions are not infallible or above reproach. Yeh I know, it wasn't aimed at you directly, just in general. By all means you can question Sam's decisions. Just bugs me when people give it the old "expert" sh!t, when truth be told; he is an expert in football managment.
Amo Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Oh, agreed. I never took that quote seriously in the first place, unlike some.
Kelbo Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I'm surprised at that I would have thought one or two but never zero, and yet we do them all the time. Yes I wondered about that too, surely we should be hitting an outlet who will score goals, however, I have noted goals scored due to Sambas presence and rebounds from his attempts have fallen to others!
Exiled in Toronto Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Yes I wondered about that too, surely we should be hitting an outlet who will score goals, however, I have noted goals scored due to Sambas presence and rebounds from his attempts have fallen to others! Doesn't surprise me at all. He has absolutely no finesse with his head and has a very poor standing jump. Plus he fouls all the time when going for the throw-ins.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Why am I not surprised at this revelation? Yeh that's fine, just tell me why I'm wrong. In either case.
Neil Weaver Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Yeh that's fine, just tell me why I'm wrong. In either case. Simple really. It's called opinion. By your measures you are/were entirely right to give lots of grief to Handbag Mk 1 and to Mk 2. By my measures, you're wrong. I would contend that the majority would (and did) say Wilcox was a very decent player who played a significant part in our club's success of the early and mid 90s. By the sound of it, you wouldn't. We're not going to convince each other differently. My comment is that I don't find it amazing that one or two who gave grief to Wilcox behave similarly to MGP.
Majiball Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 You've really got to wonder what is going on? I thought we had set a deadline of middle of this week and nothing has come out except a rumor on here. It would just be nice to know what the score is so we can start planning what we need. I just can't see us making a move for anyone until it is sorted as should he leave the whole picture changes and we might not be able to afford the targets we've selected.
Pedderz0912 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I agree with you 100% here - Its about time we know either way and my informer is still adament he will sign a new 3 year contract and like I said he has been quite good up to know with his 'predictions'. I dont no where he gets his info but is very accurate. He broke to me the Kalinic story when it was apparent he was going Pompey, Dunns new deal, Warnock very very early and also the same as Nicko with this pole. I do hope he signs though even though there must be something going on why he hasn't declared this and Sam hasn't mentioned it????
Majiball Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Cheers Pedderz0912, we'll just have to wait and see. Nicko, have you heard anything to confirm this????
Hughesy Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 The deal has been on the table all season - no new deal signed = no desire to play for us (and assessing to see if there is a bigger pay day in the pipeline) = let him go!!
Amo Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 The deal has been on the table all season - no new deal signed = no desire to play for us (and assessing to see if there is a bigger pay day in the pipeline) = let him go!! Eh, you've changed your tune. Thought we couldn't afford to lose him?
Hughesy Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Eh, you've changed your tune. Thought we couldn't afford to lose him? Realistically we cant.....but like others say - you have to start to question his motives after all this time I want him to stay - but now he's starting to take the biscuit abit!!
unleaded Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I rather hear the Story about "Nicko and his Pole!...........
