Time to pull out of the deal and look for someone else. He would have signed the deal ages ago if he really wanted to stay, him fannying about does the club more harm than good.

Even I, who have tried to stay positive about Pedersen, cannot believe that if he wanted to stay he wouldn't have signed already. He needs to get his act together and either sign or say he's not going to and let us get on with sorting out our squad for next year.

It's like poker and he's holding quite a strong hand at the moment. Time is on his side and his agent will try to exploit that as best as he can.

I think Sam needs to wake up and start playing hard ball with this one.

MGP clearly isn't that bothered about staying and is holding out for a better offer somewhere else – I'm sure the recent stories about Everton and Sunderland supposedly being interested have given him and his agent some food for thought!

Clubs set a deadline for a reason and as far as I'm aware, MGP has already missed two of them.

Let's make a stand and tell him to p!ss off. I'm sure MGP will regret his behaviour when reality strikes and his only option is signing for some non-descript team in Greece!

I grow to dislike the guy more with every day that passes.

Thats just silly and a little immature if you don't mind me saying so. Why be personal? I'd wager you don't even know him and anyway his agent is only doing his best for his client.

He clearly is only in this deal for the money & what he can screw our club for, otherwise he would already be signed up.

No loyalty in football these days - just wants us to put our whole wage budget in his pocket....GREEDY!!

Morten is no more greedy than any other footballer. The fact is that he holds the upper hand at the moment and just like anyone he is trying to get the best deal possible. He may have been poor for the last few seasons but he is that rarest of commodities "a experienced premier league midfielder", replacing him will cost money that we do not have or we are relying on finding another "N'Zonzi', this the reason why the club have tried everything possible to get him to sign.

Who's being personal?

Why is it silly?

If he was a classy midfielder that we couldn't do without, I'd understand him making us wait. But he isn't.

He's been nigh on useless for much of this season and he should be begging us for a new contract – not playing games through his like some kind of pre-madonna.

Much of the evidence (his lack of desire on the pitch, his poor performances and the way he's behaving at the moment) points to him not giving two hoots about this great club and for that reason alone, I've got every right to dislike him.

Now you are being churlish and immature Hughesy. He's doing no different than anybody else would do.

You just rubbished Benny Mac on the other thread for no good reason. Benny did very very well for us but just stayed too long and the shine wore off for both. Lots do the same. I'd imagine it might be the same with MGP. Lets have a little less spite could we?

We shouldn't let a mediocre player hold the club to ransom. We have been trying to do a deal with him for some time and he has missed two deadlines if reports are correct. I could understand the club keep talking and trying to keep pressing for a deal if he was our best player but clearly he isn't.

Time to just let him go and look elsewhere.

You missed a bit out Kamy. :tu:

Truth is I'm quite even handed about MGP. If he goes he goes and if he stays he stays. He's good enough for it to be OK either way and not good enough for it to matter greatly.

One thing I am not is I'm not daft enough to paint myself into a corner over him whilst his future is still so uncertain.

1. I'm sure we wont be doing that.

2. I'm sure that he's already been doing that.

Really? Gord I seem to remember you being very pro-Lucas Neill for the way he dealt with his contract situation. He came out and said he wasnt going to sign and was going to leave at the end of his contract. I wasn't happy with him, but its far better than the way Pedersen has done it, keeping us guessing.

I can't believe people are praising him for having 4 shots on target in a game..............if you have that many shots on target and don't score is that something to be proud of?

I'd imagine MGP's stance is more the norm these days. As I said it's poker and not a good idea to show ones hand too early. I'd prob do the same.

On the other hand the attacks on Neill were absolutely and utterly ludicrous. His approach was completely honest, businesslike and straightforward yet he attracted untold animosity. Look at it like that and its no wonder MGP's kept schtumm is it?

Small wonder that loyalty has gone out of the window so much since the mid sixties is it?

I'm not getting personal and I still think I'd like him to stay because, despite the feelings of lots of posters that he'd be easy to replace, I don't think he would or the club would not have tried so hard to keep him, but if he is happy here and if it is just a few small things that need to be sorted out before the deal is done then surely his agent ought to be doing his best to get those few small things sorted out and the deal done so he can turn his attention to getting deals for the rest of his clients. If you could get your next pay day sorted fairly easily, you'd do it wouldn't you? There's only so much money and you're either happy with that or not. Then there's the other terms and conditions and if that's all that's preventing the deal, as his agent would seeem to be suggesting then get off your backside Mr Agent and do the sorting.

No but like T4E said below - I dont like his guessing game, give the fans some clear indication.....all he needs to do is releasea statemen saying he wants to stay or that he is weighing up his options.....

As for the painting into a corner....Id be happy if he stayed for another year, but I dont want our club bending over backwards for him......No 1 player is bigger than OUR club

The longer this drags on the less time we have to find targets with our limited budget. I know it’s a what if, but what if a player becomes available that can play in central midfield or as a left winger and that fits our budget but we can't make a move for him because Pedersen is still stalling on his decision? And the end result being that Pedersen decides to move on and we miss out on this target?

Im trying to agree, and disagree with you Gord. On the 1 hand i agree, his agent is looking for a better deal. On the other hand, MGP has already been given an improved offer, so why stall on new those new terms. As i said, if he wanted to sign for us, then he would have done so without hesitation. Sam, is trying to sort out the squad as quickly as possible. However, with strikers a major focus, he could have done without MGP taking us for a ride. The guy needs to give the club an answer, and the club should demand an answer if non is forth coming.

You mean his agent is? I'd suggest his agent is just wiser than Neills. Prob learnt from him in fact.

Allardyce already has demanded an answer. imo He is attempting to rest the initiative from MGP's agent without needlessly slamming any doors shut. Allardyce is experienced and wise enough not to allow himself or the club to be pushed into a corner. He will have a value on MGP's worth in his mind and will stick to it.
