Amen to that Uddersfelt Blue, to bring someone in who could offer us what he did today would cost millions thus weakening our hand in other areas.

What does he actually offer these days?

Can't beat a man and the goals dried up long ago. His once lethal free kicks end up in row 23 far more often than not.

40k p.w well saved if he goes. I can't believe there's no-one better out there for that sort of money.

Or maybe his replacement is already at the Club - Hoillet. Not exactly like for like but the money saved could go towards a top striker for example.

A quick look at the stats suggests he offers assists and goals.

Do they? Three League goals this season?

I'd suggest that's evidence he isn't contributing enough rather than vice versa.

A winger/ attacking midfielder should be looking for something around ten goals imo.

 Available in cloud Cuckoo land, special offer this week only for 10m.

I have to agree with this. If we were a top 4 team then yes, I thnk we'd be looking for ten goals from our attacking midfielder. We are far from this though.

The only reason making me side towards Gamst leaving is, the hope that this would force the board to move a big part of the summer budget or even make more funds available for a creative centre midfielder. I think with 4 or 5 million Sam could find us a gem. However this is unlikely, we will probably lose MGP and have a million to replace him with and in turn lose money for this new striker.

I agree Olsson and Hoilett do offer a real future. Not sure we can dispense with Ped's experience though.

Also with Sam's emphasis on set pieces we do need someone with quality of delivery - Pedersen has improved remarkably over the last three months. Dunn can offer a high standard but is rarely ft. We need a player who can shape a corner or free kick and deliver accurately at pace. The person who comes instantly to mind is Matt Taylor, problem is his game when the ball is in play is pretty awful...

He is clearly trying to shaft the club for every penny possible.

So is everyone from the manager and the chairman down to the window cleaner and the milkman. It's the real world remember.

Dead right, If we can get a fee it will be a miracle. See ya pal.

How on earth would be get a fee Tyrone? Am I missing something?

Simon I don't think our strikers have 10 goals between them even though I'm sure they are all looking for them in August!

He takes more or less all of our set pieces. For someone who takes so many, he has a very low success rate.

Agree with you totally. I can't understand why people keep talking about his assists. He takes all our free kicks and throw ins and what he basically do is to kick/ throw the ball in the general direction of samba and hope for the best.

If we were to get a sunday pub player to do nothing but take all our free kicks and throw ins, I'm pretty sure, at the end of the season, the pub player will have a similiar assist stats.

Slowly but surely this is turning into the Lucas Neill thread where individuals turn vengeful for no reason. I guess it's a bit like a divorce for some when love can quickly turn to hate. A very peculiar human trait and difficult to comprehend.

If you were a Rovers player Gordon and had been putting in the performances that MGP has been doing for several years I would be saying the same things about you. There is no personal vendetta here, I just see a player who has on the whole been poor for several seasons and doesn't deserve to stay at this club any longer.

I’m not one of these fickle people who has seen Pedersen play 5 or 6 adequate games this season and believe this far outweighs the dross we have seen for the last 2-3 seasons.

To be fair to Peds his corners yesterday were top drawer. Still overall he underperformed this season(and the two before that?) and if he thinks he can get a better deal elsewhere so be it.

David Dunn has scored 10 this season as an attacking midfielder, It shouldn't be an unrealistic target for anyone playing in an advanced role. Minimum expectation should be 5 - especially if you take the majority of free kicks!

Dunny plays a different position and is a different type of player. When Dunny sits back and is out of the game for a short while, or plays a bad ball or loses possession fans don't mind because it's Dunny. I wouldn't expect 10 goals from MGP but would expect more threat from his set pieces and corners. The problem is that we tend to execute our free kicks differently under Sam, more aiming for the big man than aiming at goal.

Watch a re-run of yesterdays game and see how many times MGP was tracking back and helping out in defence, this obviously doesn't get noticed by most fans but is effective.

I think MGP would be a huge loss to our squad, replacing him would be difficult AND expensive.

He was actually quite good yesterday - up until he got through on goal and flicked at the ball with his right foot instead of leathering it. Same old ######. Looks like we've seen him at Ewood for the last time, thank God.

A winger/ attacking midfielder should be looking for something around ten goals imo.

A quick look at the Top Scorers list suggests that's highly unrealistic for a non-Champions League chasing team. Around seven would be more realistic, but still a big ask.

As a side note, Dunn is the highest scoring midfielder outside the top three. Quite impressive.

He offers very little, and in all honesty and hasn't offered much for 3/4 seasons now.

He needs to be shipped out, and lets concentrate and replacing him with someone who can actually deliver a set piece and get a decent cross in now and then.

So you think 7 goals is a big ask for an attacking player who takes most of our free kicks in and around the box?

I'd suggest a little more time on the training ground is required, his distribution from corners and free kicks is pathetic.

Get rid. :angry2:

To replace MGP we need a creative midfield player who can :-

1. Take most of our set plays

2. Take a decent long throw

3. Play left wing as well as more central

4. Work hard for the team - imo his tracking back has often been overlooked

5. Good heading ability

6. Show a reasonable amount of creativity

7. Odd spectacular goal

8. Reasonable pace - MGP isn't by any means quick, but he isn't slow either.

Ok - this has all to be on a free transfer, he has to settle into our team pattern and premiership football immediately, his agent won't want a signing on fee - and his salary should be no more than MGP's current.

Personally - I wouldn't be held to ransom by a player like MGP - but would be happy if he stays. It gives Olsson and Hoillett a bit longer to settle in the first team - and would give us the opportunity to bring in a younger player for the long term rather than going or an older player. Having said that - Sam may already have such a player up his sleeve - who knows.

I think seven is probably about right, looking at the scoring records of other mid-table midfielders, so 'big ask' is probably OTT. Ten is definitely unreasonable though.

If we had money to replace him I would be happy to say bon voyage he certainly can be replaced, but as we have no money to spend only the wages saved from him leaving then I think we are going to struggle to replace him for nowt.

I'm sure once some people sober up after the Arsenal result, they'll realise that Pedersen won't be missed. He's underperformed for season after season, with a handful of half-decent games, and continues to keep the club in the dark. I wish Sam would act swiftly, because Pedersen is really not worth the time or bother.

Local boy and crowd favourite Dunny is obviously profiting massively from the system that SA has them playing. I wonder why so many local experts object to it?

Bang on, especially with his tracking back. I do think one of the reasons he performs better in the centre is because when he is there its often in Dunn's role and he doesnt have to track back as much so his creative side comes out more.
