RibbleValleyRover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Good to see Pedersen is getting back among the goals. That side of his game has eluded him in recent years. I know people on this forum are always quick to label people "haters" (because rational argument is too difficult), but I'll criticize any player who underperforms in a Rovers shirt on a consistent basis, especially when they have the talent - i.e Pedersen. If he can recapture the form which made him such a hit at the club, then I'll have no beef with him. Pretty much my viewpoint. Last time he scored 4 league goals in a season was three years ago.

Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Hid gosl was just in the contenders for Goal of the week on SSN, really was a nice free kick, hopefully see some more of those. You didn't have to wait long!
67splitscreen Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Well done MGP keep it going lad, more money less places to fill with performances like the last few weeks.
Backroom Tom Posted November 21, 2010 Backroom Posted November 21, 2010 Looked back to his best today, like it or not he is pivotal to the team, often we have it in defence and Pedersen drops deep to recieve it and spread it. His passing this season on the whole has been great, just hope he can keep it up. Seems to help now the crowd are firmly behind him again
Exiled in Toronto Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Pretty much my viewpoint. Last time he scored 4 league goals in a season was three years ago. He does owe us about 15 goals from the last 3 seasons but fair play, he has hit a recent groove that seemed to have long disappeared.
Exiled_Rover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Isn't it funny; he finally starts whipping in his free kicks and suddenly good things happen. Amazing that.
jim mk2 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Those who have criticised Pedersen are being made to look increasingly foolish. The player has been and continues to be one of our best and most important players. Well done to the club for rewarding his loyalty and talent with a long-term contract.
chocky Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 It looks like we have got the old MGP back. Keep it up Lad.
Amo Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Those who have criticised Pedersen are being made to look increasingly foolish. Whereas that only happens to you when you step into the ICBINF forum.

Nah, his contribution from open play is still minimal. He'll do something well, like control and turn on the ball, only to smack it out of play.
Ricky Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 His delivery has been far better these last few games. At least he's stopped floating free kicks into the box and he's hitting them with some real venom. Much more impressive. See if he can hit another at old trafford next week.

He'll do something well, like control and turn on the ball, only to smack it out of play. He did play one lovely 40yard pass to Diouf in the first half but point taken he also smacked one or two of out play like you mentioned. But if he can get amongst the goals regularly his contribution in open play doesn't really matter too much and can be overlooked. All his set-pieces were spot on today a total opposite to the Fulham game.

He always does his defensive work, so as long as he continues to whip in free kicks he deserves a place in the side.

This is one of the most influential areas of the pitch. You can change a game from there, win a game from there and control a game from there. Pederson does enough and when he went off we missed him today, but he isnt a central midfielder by a long shot, he just does'nt have the skill to control a game, a good midfielder can do that, he can dictate pace depending on the score. Pederson is a good player and he has his uses, but he isnt a central midfielder, we miss a leader, a Savage figure to control the midfield.
Exiled_Rover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 We don't miss a 'Savage figure'. He couldn't pass either. He simply won the ball back and gave it to Tugay.
Jim Royle Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Shame on you guys who even now won't appeciate MGP Sad, bitter feckers! Now can someone tell who else has such a positive effect on our results?

We very rarely dominate games from midfield nowadays anywhere, Morten isn't that sort of player anyway. I'd quite happy take a goal a game from him and have his set-pieces and have him do little else in open play. Tim Cahill is a prime example of a midfield player who does very little in open play but pops up with goals all the time. Then again once he went off injured in today's game I thought we started to lose grip on the game.
Hughesy Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Vital 2 goals from MGP against Villa...well done! His delivery has improved, however id like to see him try some of those corners he used to do when the ball actually bends into the goal area, often testing the keepers direct from corners....they only require the slightest flick and they are in.

He tried one today and Brad claimed it with ease
Backroom Tom Posted November 22, 2010 Backroom Posted November 22, 2010 I have decided Pedersen must have stayed up late last night and watched Bill and Ted when it was on Sky Movies as his second celebration reminded me of it.
Exiled_Rover Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I have decided Pedersen must have stayed up late last night and watched Bill and Ted when it was on Sky Movies as his second celebration reminded me of it. I think he has enough money to own it on DVD.
Backroom Tom Posted November 22, 2010 Backroom Posted November 22, 2010 Nah he still has a Betamax player, rumours of his wages were greatly exagerated. I only say cause I noticed it was on last night whilst channel hoping. Most excellent.

The player has been and continues to be one of our best and most important players. Well done to the club for rewarding his loyalty and talent with a long-term contract. Pretty much my point of view. When the debate was on about whether he should go or stay, I was very much in the pro Pederson camp. Just thought I would post a "I told you so" message. I have always thought that he could score a hatful of goals for us. Perhaps this is the season with him as the midfield player being right up there amongst the leading goal scorers.
CrazyIvan Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I've always been in the pro Pedersen camp. He had a drop off in form under Hughes and then Ince but, since Allardyce has been manager, he's gradually picked up again. Now he's back to the form he showed when he first burst on the scene. He is so very obviously a confidence player. Even when he was poor, he was still creative. He is, right now, by far the most creative player we have.
