I've been on Pedersen's back for awhile now, for much the same reasons as T4E. There was a time when he was one of the PL's most eye-catching midfielders, with his set-pieces, spectacular goals and darting runs into the box. I've never had a problem with him when he plays to the best of ability, but sadly in the past few seasons he's played well under his best and often been a passenger in our side. Fortunately, his form has picked up this year, got some goals back in his game, and his spirit for the club comes at a time when we need everyone to pull together. Good to know there are some happy campers still at Rovers! ;)

He seems a popular lad in the changing room too. Hopefully he can influence players who have doubts. Hopefully most of them should be fine after Mister Steve's trip to India...

Given the upheaval that has happened in the last few weeks it is crucial to have players like MGP at the club.He always comes across as a down to earth kind of bloke and somebody who is probably more appreciative of his lifestyle than probably any other player at the club.

With regards to the debate about his position in the centre of midfield,i think he will do well there as part of a 4-4-2 formation with proper pacy wingers either side of him.Lets hope Kean will get the right players in to help his game even more.

I think he would do okay in a 442 with two out of Olsson, EH Diouf and Hoilett on the wings. The main issue is his partner in CM - we don't really have anyone who can act as a fulcrum for Ped to work off. Nzonzi is too static for 442 imo, Andrews is rubbish, Emerton is okay but a head down engine player not ideally suited to sitting, Dunn does not have the pace or fitness, Grella is permanently injured. Linganzi and Goulon have not had enough time on the field to form a judgement.

A Savage or Tugay type would be ideal but we neither. Next best thing is Jones but he is out to the end of the season....

Just when I start cutting him some slack, he has an absolute shocker...

Roll on January, when we can sign some real midfielders.

Everyone had a shocker out there today. Only Salgado and Robbo stood out. The rest were all wimps. Dunn is a fat and rusty nail, Emo is a timid and headless chicken and Kalinic's a5s loves the grass.

He was absolute @#/? today. I don't know where I'd play him - too slow for the wing, not creative or tenacious for centre mid. If his free kicks aren't top quality he's useless.

Until Dunn went off it was his worst performance for a long time. Then he improved slightly.Dunn and him are the worst central pairing Ive ever seen.

My thoughts exactly. If Rovers were an American Football team he'd get a game as the specialist kicker. However, we're no where near good enough a team to carry a free kick/corner kick taker who offers little else creatively. His bullshit chipped passes up to the forwards really are woeful (as are the rest of the team). If you're going to play in the centre of midfield you need to be able to offer more.

This thread is most unfair. MGP did OK yesterday imo. Certainly as well as anybody with the lumbering Dunn and Forest Gump Emerton for company. Even Zidane would look poor with those two either side of him. Pederson might not be a colossus in midfield but he is one of our senior players and one that will attract plenty of interest should we put him on the market.

I find it mighty odd that we are so keen and so persistant in criticising him and even odder that we don't have threads opened denegrating those other two useless lumps.

Check the matchday threads, Dunn has been heavily criticized and people can see his days are numbered.

Very disappointed in him today, he knew exactly what Sam wanted of him though and I'm not sure all this uncertainty will do his form any good.

I'm pretty sure Kean didn't want him to pass the ball to the opposition 60% of the time. Nor did he ask him too just bang the ball aimlessly upfield like he did 20 times yesterday.

As I've said hundreds of times - without his free kicks (and besides one or two, they were awful yesterday) he's a liability.

So where is the long standing dedicated thread where we can flame Dunn's pitiful efforts over the years?

This is a fair point, morten is my player of the season so far yet is still one of the first to be criticised when the whole team plays bad.

In truth we would have been just as effective with ten men on the pitch rather than his midfield partner in the first half so Gamst had the job of two men, it's just his passing wasn't good on the day.

Agree 100%. His goal-scoring purple patch (which masked how poor he's been IMO) has come to an end, and yesterday him and Dunny were simply awful.

To be fair to Dunny he at least tried but just can't run anymore, but Pedersen just kept taking the lazy option and aimlessly punting it upfield rather than hold or run with the ball.

I've said it before but if we were to buy 2 half decent proper midfielders I just don't see where Peds gets in the team.

And tbh I thought Emerton did ok - particularly as he seems to be doing the running for himself, Dunny and MGP. At least he gets stuck in and can run with the ball - something beyond both his midfield companions.

Don't think he was too happy with himself either.

He's had one bad match all season and now he's back to being sh*t again?

What about the 10 plus matches hes been one of our best player in this season? I didn't hear you saying he was back to being vintage Morten then?

Sorry, Robinson for me. He's been consistent between the sticks all season, Pedersen's been up and down in his performances.

Fair point Topman, Robbo has been top class this season.

Marks comments show that we all see different things as for me Morten has got stuck in and put more in than anyone this season, he was poor on Boxing Day but thats a rarity this season and he has acknowledged it so lets hope he gets back to how he has been.

Rather Pedersen than Dunny or Emerton any day.
