Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 28, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted December 28, 2010 I really hope I don't have to see much more of Brett Emerton in the blue and white, he's been dreadful since the Bolton game. Dunn has been poor but he seems to get an easier ride as he's a local lad. Unless he gets his act together/improves his fitness I'm not happy to see him play either- though I do forget we have an abundance of fit midfielders......

Jimmy612 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 To be fair to Dunny he at least tried but just can't run anymore Wouldn't you have thought that a hard working well respected coach who works long hours would have spotted that?
T4E Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 That's because Emerton is, and always has been, crap. Him being a Premier League footballer for so long is indicative of exactly what is wrong with the English game. He's an athlete, not a footballer. He's big, strong and fit, but when it comes to technique and footballing ability he is completely devoid.
imy9 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Wouldn't you have thought that a hard working well respected coach who works long hours would have spotted that? Sam didn't and if I recall made him vice captain!
T4E Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Wouldn't you have thought that a hard working well respected coach who works long hours would have spotted that? The difference with Dunny is, he's capable of a moment of brilliance. When your midfield is as poor as ours he's almost worth perservering with. It's a judgement call.
MarkBRFC71 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Wouldn't you have thought that a hard working well respected coach who works long hours would have spotted that? Possibly, but to be fair the 'Second Coming', future Real Madrid manager who preceded him couldn't see it either.
jim mk2 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Possibly, but to be fair the 'Second Coming', future Real Madrid manager who preceded him couldn't see it either. Surprised you have the audacity to come on here with the club heading for relgation since you got your wish with the sacking of Allardyce. You're an idiot.

You're an idiot. There you go again, insulting people just because they don't share your worldview. Last recourse of the mentally frail IMO. Sams' gone. Deal with it like a grown-up and stop whining. You were the first to accuse people of knee-jerk reactions and now you're worse than anyone. Are you a Rovers fan or a Sam Allardyce fan FFS? I agree with the sacking, but to not have a proper replacement lined up is madness as I've stated several times. And just because we've had a couple of poor results doesn't mean we're going to be relegated - we might just have easily got the same results in those games had Sam been here.
jim mk2 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I agree with the sacking, . ... which makes you an idiot
MarkBRFC71 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 ... which makes you an idiot 3-1 away. Relegation form alright. I know it's hard for you Jim but can you at least try to make yourself look less of a cock?
Exiled in Toronto Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Based on the Daily Telegraph's statistics, I calculate that Pedersen has given the ball to the opposition 76 times in the last 3 games. This is surely a record.

Emerton is without doubt the most frustrating Rovers player to watch. I have never understood why he seems to get so much vocal support. Very very average. As for Pedersen. Never been his biggest fan either. But he does at least try to retain posession of the ball. This is essentially quite a good trait for a midfielder. With better players about him he would look OK. Sadly he doesn't have this luxury too often with our current crop.

Exactly, if you have one or two around him who can play the midfield role, he will be fine but as you say, we have no real midfield.
LWX Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Pedersen will get some goals again at some point and all will be forgiven...
Miker Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I mentioned this earlier as well, Pedersen would do ok if he had a good defensive midfielder to play next to. Under Kean thus far, he's been forced to play a confusing role in midfield.
des Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 pedersen is ok as a wide midfield player, but to put in middle of midfield is asking for problems, he can cross well and his freekicks are good, but he cannot win the ball and as such is not suited for a central midfield role
Backroom DE. Posted January 2, 2011 Backroom Posted January 2, 2011 Interesting entry in his latest blog, doesn't gloss over the fact it was a poor result and doesn't give any excuses. The last line made me laugh as well: Liverpool under Roy Hodgson is not a victory maschine away from home, and the loss we had today we will let Liverpool pay for on Wednesday
bazza Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 You're an idiot. ... which makes you an idiot Jim, you're going to have Glenn chasing you again. You remind me of my old primary school headmaster who regularly called each of us "a blithering idiot" At secondary school, the Christian Brothers dropped the "blithering" and just called me an idiot; or they pronounced it "eejut" "Yur an eejut. Whet air ya?" "An eejut, sir."
JAL Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Based on the Daily Telegraph's statistics, I calculate that Pedersen has given the ball to the opposition 76 times in the last 3 games. This is surely a record. Difficult one this but, what sort of shyte quality players did he have in front of him to make those passes fail so much i.e in their poor movement, or easily beaten, can only think of Jasson Roberts in a few games were a forward pass into a forward has stuck with that forward in a Rovers shirt. That through ball to Kalinic for the opener against the Albion = Quality So far this season i'd say theres only been MGP consistant in playing a quality forward pass with the rest of our midfield either being usless to indifferent.
Majiball Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 When your being a creative player your bound to miss more passes as your mainly looking to play more difficult balls IE through balls and so on.
HemelRover Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 When your being a creative player your bound to miss more passes as your mainly looking to play more difficult balls IE through balls and so on. Whats Pedders excuse then?

I'd rather Pedersen chipped in with 1 or 2 quality passes per game that resulted in goals or clear cut chances than have him with an 80%+ passing ratio or whatever. You look at Arsenal, for all their pretty passing, the only time it's really effective is when someone like Fabregas gets on the ball and provides a perfect through ball for someone to score.
blue_and_white Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 The guy's a legend. 1. 6 years of loyalty, especially in the early days when the likes of Man U were sniffing around. 2. Reguarly top of our assists each season and usually chips in with 5-10 goals. 3. Always plays with a smile on his face and you can tell he's a really nice guy. 4. Never gets wound up or has a sulk when the idiots among our fans use him as a scapegoat and shout abuse. 5. No doubt makes Rovers a bob or 2 as a major celebrity in Norway and is a great ambassador for the club in that respect. 6. Always gives 100% where ever he's asked to play. 7. One of the best set piece takers in the league. 8. Scores the odd world class goal now and again. Definately one of my favourite players.
LeChuck Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 pedersen is ok as a wide midfield player, but to put in middle of midfield is asking for problems, he can cross well and his freekicks are good, but he cannot win the ball and as such is not suited for a central midfield role Sorry but that's simply not true. He doesn't tackle hard but he does win the ball back. Also, simply by covering more ground than any other central midfielder does, he can get back into positions and close space down. Pedersen has only returned to form since we moved him into the middle. The problem is that he doesn't have a physically dominant player alongside him.
