This is probably the only point I'll ever agree with you on, but this is spot on. Jones was being completely undervalued by our supporters, but from watching him week in, week out you could see that he was doing a tremendous job playing in his new midfield role. He was better than N'zonzi and miles ahead of our other midfielders. He was great at making runs into the box as well and was probably unlucky not to score a couple of goals before his injury.

Losing him was a really sad prospect. Jones and Pedersen together made a strong combination in midfield, but without Jones, Pedersen has gone back to being useless and our midfield is completely devoid of any grit to hold the team together. Grella or N'zonzi need to come back to fill that hole or we need to bring a new player in and fast.

I don't think Jones was under-valued by our supporters. We know he is really a centre-back and not a long-term answer in mid-field but everyone seemed to think he was doing a good job.

Sadly not.

Oh well.

Since you didn't get one on Peds what about one on Sherwood???

Young tim a spritly young Norwich player was once asked to look after a team mates house while he went on Holiday. The house in question happened to have a rather poorly potty trained dog who whilst the owners were away decided he would crap on the carpet all the time. But young Tim being the leader he was found a way to deal with it.

however once Tims teammate returned home his missus started to notice a funny smell everytime she cleaned up the house. His team mate moaned about this for ages and ages and the smell overtime got really bad.

Anyway it transpires that young tim upon discovering the floor of his team mates house covered in dog turd had flat refused to touch it. So Tim had the bright idea of turning the heating up to dry the buggers out, once they were nice and hard as opposed to picking them up he just hoovered them and put the hoover away.

It took a couple of months before they found out that the reason their house stank of dog turd was that Tim hadn't even bothered to empty the hoover bag.

Is this the beginning of the end for Pedersen and his Rovers career?

http://gamst.co.uk/

Sounds very down and angry with not playing.

Don't blame him. Best set-piece taker, only long-throw expert, can play in the middle or on the wing, top of our assists, 3rd top of our goal scorers, only decent crosser, good in the air so always available for the out ball, usually covers the most ground in the team so can be relied on for his defensive duties, generally good finisher (Everton miss aside) and played without fail by 4 consecutive managers before Kean came along.

7 mostly great seasons at the club and Baldilocks would rather bring on an unproven, out of position kid to play in midfield ahead of him. Can only hope that both Pedersen and Kalinic look on this period philosophically as a short-term problem caused by a soon to be gone manager. If they suspect Kean may be staying next season I wouldn't be suprised to see them both put in a transfer request in the summer.

unfortunately I have not gotten to use my strengths so much lately and I don’t like it now that it doesn’t go so well with the team in my heart.

Interesting quote from his blog. A bit ambiguous, though it's probably down to his use of English.

To be honest if Pedersen's defensive game hadn't deteriorated. Otherwise he would be in the side every week as frankly only Hoilett and J Jones are better midfielders since Olsson and P Jones moved back to defense. The problem is that he has been a liability in the middle recently when we haven't got the ball.

He's still the best set piece taker, one of the better technical players and can pass okay (although it has been a bit wayward of late). It's the lack of workrate and uncommitted tackling which has cost him his place. That is easy to address - run your socks off and get stuck in. At times he has been excellent defensively - he needs to get back to that.

Pedersen needs to wake up and smell the coffee. He has been awful for several seasons and this, apart from a brief burst of form earlier in the season.

The only thing I can say in his defence is that Emerton has been even worse but I certainly wouldn't include MGP in the side ahead of Hoillet, Olsson, J Jones Nzonzi and probably not even a half fit Dunn. At least he's trying.

He's been found out not to put too fine a point on it. Maybe if he put a bit more effort in he might get in the side.

It is interesting to read his blog but I thought his last post was a bit selfish and unnecessary.

We are in deep crap and he is having a moan about playing in the reserves and how good it is to get some praise of Saunders.

No wonder a half fit Dunn who is prepared to roll his sleaves up and fight is in the team ahead of him.

Must say after being against offering him a new deal I finally saw that it seemed to make sense, despite him hardly ever having a decent run off form to my memory.

Since the deal was signed we continue to see him plodding along and offering hardly anything in an attacking capacity. People talk about his ability from set pieces, maybe his throws, but his delivery from corners and free kicks is poor in the main. If I had a pound for every time he hits the first man from a corner, me and Abbey would be a corporate box week in week out.

In hindsight we should have sold him when Spurs came calling a few years back, then ata least I’d not have nightmares about his miss against Chelsea in the semi-final at Old Stratford :(

I have to agree with all that Gav. :tu:

We can't score goals from open play so our best chance of scoring is through a set-piece, which is Pedersen's speciality and which was the source of alot of our goals before the Great Sacking in December. Pedersen was in good form in the first half of the season and remains our best goal creator if this manager knew how to use him properly - another indictment on Kean and his coaching staff.

Exactly, Jim, and looking at the number of free kicks, corners and throws we got against City, you have to wonder just why Peds was on the bench and stayed there. To say nothing of his assists as you mention - if you look at the Goals of the Season, Pedersen's was the assist on a few of them.

Pedersen should have played against City, even if it was on the wrong side in place of Emerton. He couldn't have been much worse and would have delivered far superior set pieces. I'm not his biggest fan by far but we need goals and he can provide assists.

Reading his last two posts, I think he wanted to say more but is being sensible.

The reserve game reference seemed more matter-of-fact than complaint. He is obviously deeply upset at not being involve on Monday. I hope he is picked and has the game of his life, scoring the winner on Saturday - otherwise it'll just be hot air.

That's if he gets picked by "The Thinker"...

Spot on. And when you add his unjustified set-piece reputation to his lazy and uncommitted most recent appearances it's no wonder he's been dropped.

In our position we can't afford passengers and shirkers like MGP just for the chance that he might produce the odd decent free-kick or corner. Perhaps if he put as much effort in on the pitch as he does bitching on his blog we might have a player worth keeping ....

Well I don't see a flood of goals from any other set piece takers? If Pedersen provides one decent set piece that leads to a goal then he is worth keeping.

And the comments about lack of effort and commitment are puzzling? Must get my eyes tested again!!!

Sorry about that, pressed the wrong buttom again. Yeah, I know a good optician, let me know if you need his phone number. The guys a waste of space and if I ever meet him face to face I'll tell him exactly that. I thought the Norwegians used to be Viking Warriors ! What went wrong in Peds case ?

I take it you didn't see both Phil Jones and Nelsen berating him when he came on against Blackpool? Both absolutely hammered him for not tracking back, and not making forward runs into space. He offered nothing against Birmingham, and against Everton his only notable contributions were missing from 3 yards and having a shot that ended up on the halfway line. Typical of his recent performances. Like I said, we cannot afford to play with effectively 10.5 players for the off-chance that one of his free-kicks come off, particularly in our position. On his day, he's a good player. Unfortunately his 'days' are getting ever more scarce.

BTW I can recommend Specsavers if that's any use? :P
