Amo Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 The chips are down, so people are clutching at straws. Pedersen, despite so many limp-wristed displays and poor set-pieces (for a so-called 'specialist'), is suddenly our saviour. I'd rather see Rochina given set-piece duty.

cruz Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Hmmm. So to recap Pedersen has had 7 'great' seasons and is now our saviour down to his free kicks despite playing a big role in our recent form. And there was me thinking Niko 'bambi on ice' Kalinic was the BRFCS sponsored saviour?

Aye, he delivers them into the keepers hands just as well as Pedersen Seriously though I'd be ok for Rochina to take them, but he didn't seem too keen against City.
alexanders Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Stop whining and get in for them team instead! His cameo performance against Everton was his usual whimpy self.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I take it you didn't see both Phil Jones and Nelsen berating him when he came on against Blackpool? Both absolutely hammered him for not tracking back, and not making forward runs into space. He offered nothing against Birmingham, and against Everton his only notable contributions were missing from 3 yards and having a shot that ended up on the halfway line. Typical of his recent performances. Like I said, we cannot afford to play with effectively 10.5 players for the off-chance that one of his free-kicks come off, particularly in our position. On his day, he's a good player. Unfortunately his 'days' are getting ever more scarce. BTW I can recommend Specsavers if that's any use? No I have an optician thank you!!! Pedersen was doing OK playing central midfield early in the season but suddenly "useless" Bert is a shoe in for that position. Even an untried Rochina who doesn't know when to release the ball is now our saviour. LOL
grizfoot Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 He's largely usless but at least he does most of time have brilliant set-pieces delivery, which we desperately miss when he's not playing.
Al Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 With Pedders in the team at least we have a chance of scoring from set plays and set plays have been our main source of goals this season. With Bert taking the free kicks the chances of scoring are close to nil. Pedders must play.
Backroom Tom Posted April 30, 2011 Backroom Posted April 30, 2011 Call him what you like but I think we would have got a point on Monday with Pedersen in, we had at least 4 free kicks in perfect positions to whip the ball in, Emertons free kicks were awful whereas we know what Pedersen can do from there, the one for Nelsen against Wolves I think it was this season was a perfect free kick.
MarkBRFC71 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Excellent today when he came on. I think 'excellent' is pushing it a bit. 'Acceptable' would be more accurate IMO. BTW what on earth was he thinking with that throw straight to their striker?!

BTW what on earth was he thinking with that throw straight to their striker?! It was Nzonzi not being alert enough that messed up there. Peds put our best ball into the box in the whole game in the short time he was on
MarkBRFC71 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Peds put our best ball into the box in the whole game in the short time he was on Not difficult as the crossing today was woeful! If everyone else is fit he's nowhere near where he needs to be for a starting place, but as a bench player he's an option. Having said that if we stay up he'd deffo be on the 'outs' list for me.

BTW what on earth was he thinking with that throw straight to their striker?! Yeah only thing he semi did wrong in 15 minutes. What about some great tackles, tracking back, forward runs, crosses and some good skill to make space on the edge of the box for a blocked shot? Did twice as much as Rochina on Monday in half the time but of course the team scapegoats like Pedersen, Roberts and Andrews have to play twice as well as the darlings just to get a grudging admission they did ok.

All stuff that he SHOULD be doing as a matter of course as a Premier League footballer. And stuff that's been sadly lacking from his game since Xmas. Let's hope he builds on today's cameo - he could prove to be a valuable supersub in the last few games of this season.

I was going to point out the same thing but some people are always prejudiced towards certain players. Pedersen should be first choice for me and remains the rock around which the rest of the team should be built.

Still don't like him I see haha
LeChuck Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I'd give Pedersen a run on the right of midfield if Hoilett is still out. He's miles better than Emerton.
Gav Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Pedersen should be first choice for me and remains the rock around which the rest of the team should be built. Couldn't agree more, once he learns to cross a ball, beat the first man on corners and scores a few more goals
MarkBRFC71 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Still don't like him I see haha He frustrates me TBH. He's obviously a decent player, but can be a right lazy bugger! Today he was better, but he needs to understand that the level of committment/performance he showed in his cameo this afternoon is the MINIMUM expected of him. Too many times recently he's pulled out of tackles, failed to track players back, not bothered to make forward runs, lumped lazy passes forward without looking. All the more frustrating when he started the season fairly well, however, he's not shown anything since Xmas to suggest he's anything more than a half-decent squad player IMO. Hindsight's a wonderful thing but we should have snatched Spurs hands off when they (allegedly) offered £10m or so. As it is no-one else in the Prem would be daft enough to pay him what he's getting at Ewood.
roverwhelmed Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I thought Peds did well today when he came on. I haven't (tbh) rated him massively lately, he's made some errors. But maybe being dropped will have given him the kick up the a$$ he needed!
the original david brent Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I'd give Pedersen a run on the right of midfield if Hoilett is still out. He's miles better than Emerton. that's because Emertons position is Right Back. always has been, and shown in the last 15 mins today
robbo_rovers Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Thought he did well when he came on today. I would be tempted to start him next week if Hoilett is still out, certainly looked like he had a point to prove today.
Amo Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I'd give Pedersen a run on the right of midfield if Hoilett is still out. He's miles better than Emerton. He's really not.
