philipl Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Some interesting ties with the English contingent looking wobblier than they were doing when the draw was first made. Unbelievable statistic on Mourinho. No club managed by the Special One has lost at home in league, cup or European competition since March 2002!

Hughesy Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I saw that stat but it only said League games. Is it all games? He also had a better record in the prem when he was here. Played 114 and only lost 9, Fergie lost 15.
RovertheHill Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Read the thread title and thought Platini had announced that Champions League games had to be played with people in giants costumes swinging bags of water at the players from the sidelines and compulsory Stuart Hall summarising I'll get me coat
bellamy11 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Some interesting ties with the English contingent looking wobblier than they were doing when the draw was first made. Unbelievable statistic on Mourinho. No club managed by the Special One has lost at home in league, cup or European competition since March 2002! What about Barcelona winning at Stamfod Bridge in the CL a few years back? Or have I made that up?
AlanSheppard Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm pretty sure it's just the league. Panathanaikos won at the San Siro this year I think in the CL.
rover6 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 A shame that you can't say that Mourinho has done it "in style".
Jackson Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Be Honest. Tonight, who will people be rooting for? (Obviously not the Rovers match!).
BuckyRover Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 This is a good tie for me. I enjoy English sides doing well in Europe, but also enjoy it when Man Utd lose.
neekoy Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Out of the English clubs I hope Arsenal win it, but overall I would Like Barcelone to finish it off, they play some of the most sublime football I have ever seen. EDIT: Oh, and I hope Liverpool go down in a screaming ball of fire to Real tomorrow, for the first time in a number of years they have a great balance, big thing is if Huntelaar can cover for Horseface
DeadlyDirk Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I want an english club to win it and ideally an all english final again, unfortunately I'm not a great fan of the english clubs in there! Don't like the Mancs, don't like Chelsea or Arsenal, have to settle for a Liverpool win, beating the Mancs in the final.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I was really looking forward to the Special One /RFW showdown and managed to catch the second half of that game on TV whilst listening to Rovers on Radio Lancs. Have to say I thought the ManUre game was dreadful - like watching paint dry. Anyone else agree or did I miss the finer points?
FourLaneBlue Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 No club managed by the Special One has lost at home in league, cup or European competition since March 2002! It is only league games. Still a ridiculously impressive achievement however.
Hughesy Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I dont want Liverpool to win it - I hate them with a passion. To be honest id prefer Barca to win it.
Amo Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 For all Man.Utd's dominance last night, they couldn't pinch an away goal - which means advantage Inter. I'm sure Mourinho will have them in better shape for the game at OT where they know they can nick it.
RovertheHill Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 According to SSN bookies have suspended betting on Benitez getting the boot after a sudden surge in bets! New job for Ince...
jonv Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 i want all the english clubs to get knocked out so all the big stars make big money summer moves away from england freeing up the game from all this nonsense and making the leagues a far more fair stomping ground.
incecticide Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Have to say I thought the ManUre game was dreadful - like watching paint dry. Anyone else agree or did I miss the finer points? Agreed. Two teams so well-organised they just don't give the opposition enough chances to make for an antertaining game. The ball was usually being moved around the middle third of the pitch while the defending midfield sat back and allowed the opposition to have meaningless possession in front of them. Drab.
Oklahoma Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 i want all the english clubs to get knocked out so all the big stars make big money summer moves away from england freeing up the game from all this nonsense and making the leagues a far more fair stomping ground. Freeing up the game for teams like Manchester City?
