MCMC1875 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 There is absolutely no chance of that happening. The club currently take more cash in ticket sales from away fans than home fans on an average home game. In truth there is nothing the club or the police can do if 5,000 away fans all decide to stand up. Trying to force them all to sit down would case a public disorder that the police would not find acceptable. It might be frustrating but there you go. It would equally apply to Rovers fans at away games if enough of them chose to stand up. There was no problem at Fulham with anyone who wanted to stand up at the back. It's more problematic where all seats are sold and there are some who don't want to (or can't) stand up. It must be pretty frustrating if you're a United fan under 5' tall at Ewood. I notice the Kop fans are all stood for Liverpool home games. No doubt the club turns a blind eye because it helps maintain the only atmosphere left in any English ground since all seater stadia were introduced.
JAL Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Overall a disappointing turn out but then again are we suprised, cheap tickets isnt the answer, putting out a sustainable quality team is. John Williams needs to look at himself and ask himself what on earth has he been doing for the past 12 months or so to deliver the poor fare on show at Ewood these days. Its no wonder its a great place for away supporters to come and visit as the emphasis seems to be fairly placed with the away teams.

Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that every Rovers manager in recent times when asked by the club has said that he would prefer the ground as full as possible, if necessary with away fans in the Darwen End rather than restricting them. They all reckoned that it improved the atmosphere and improved Rovers chances.
