Stuart Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Tha waiting is over, it's finally here! The New England Shirt My first thought was a fairly incredulous "Is that it...?", my second thought that it is pretty plain considering the hype. Over all, not entirely sure, maybe it's grow on me but doubt I'll be paying paying 50 squids for it: there are nicer looking shirts for half the price in the Rovers shop! Make your own minds up.

That is really bad. No way I would pay £50 for that. I can't believe that they paid a dingle to actually design that, all that he has done is got a polo shirt, stuck on England and Umbro badges!
1864roverite Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 That has to be the worst ever England shirt. Thank god I stopped my missus buying it as a surprise. A shocking design whoever is responsible should be HUNG
bennyboyt11 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Although I am not a massive fan of it, I'm definately buying it
Ninjathunder Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 That has to be the worst ever England shirt. It's a basic traditional design that's refreshing and it's growing on me a lot. Can't see at all how it can be 'the worst ever England shirt'. There's been some terrible garish crap over the years - the last one for starters; that terrible one in Euro 96; World Cup 98 with a silly red line down the middle.

cn174 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I like it. Is it actualy on sale from today? 1st April
Sandiway Blue Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I must admit i quite like it,it is plain and simple without having a garish print splattered all over it and it looks like a traditional shirt.I will definitely be buying this one.
jodrell Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Old school! It´s quite nice, I like it. for cleaning windows
gumboots Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 1st April Date says it all doesn't it? Or was the date your way of saying what you thought of it too?
Hughesy Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Probably the easiest shirt in the world to copy. Just get a white polo and iron on the badges yourself.
Stuart Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 Probably the easiest shirt in the world to copy. Just get a white polo and iron on the badges yourself. Looks to me as though all of the design costs (which I imagine were considerable) went into engineering the cut and shape of the shirt so I'd have thought a standard white polo may be spotted - and that's assuming there's no subtle white screen printing on it. I'm guessing the dingle who designed it designs women's clothes! If you look carefully, it is possible to spot the world cup star embroidered in white though. I'm not yet convinced but I expect as the England players wear it more it will gain credibility. Although it didn't look right on Rooney yesterday, but I guess when you fill it like he does, the tailored shape becomes irrelevant - beer bellies be warned! I wonder what the away version will be like, same but in red?
rover6 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Caught a glimpse of Lampard wearing it against Slovakia. Doesn't seem to suit the 'larger' man.
Stuart Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 If rovers go down a similar route: That's not half bad. Although the sponsor logo is one of the worst things about the current shirt, the neck is probably a close second. Makes it really cheap looking. If Umbro go for collars in future, it could be an improvement for the Rovers shirt.
Amo Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Rovers should go back to the kappa days. Those strips were awesome.
DanLad Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Rovers should go back to the kappa days. Those strips were awesome. Those really tight ones with the stangle neck were bad... I wore the Time one for a long while. Red and black striped away, right? Yes, good kit.
thenodrog Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I'll tell you my first thoughts shoud I? That Tom Finney wore a shirt like that when he played for England! In fact the cost of one shirt would have paid his wages for two bloody weeks!!!!
