Cant believe there isnt a campaign that sets out to severly slash all future pensions the politicians have gained over the past decade or so just to claw back some of the damage they have caused and set an example for future governments if Britian can ever hope to attach Great to its name.

Plus why hasnt Tony Blair been brought to justice over committing war crimes by going to war illegally, is it because he was simply following orders from the people who actually make the decision but arent public figures.

The main political party's are shot at in this country due to the high immigration which has set many people apart from their fellow elected countrymen. Seeing their wages hardly rise in ten years, then to be penalised by a wealth of taxes, throw in high house prices as the big con, then they have to work longer to achieve a lot less, plus you have to pay more for a decent education - what a wonderful life.

New Labour old Tory, funny how Browns chief advisor has swapped sides to Camerons bunch.

Mr Smith would have been sleeping on the sofa tonight. But luckily they've got two houses.

And thats a rum do too. Mr 'Smith' is apparently called Mr 'Richard Timney'! So how does that work for a holder of senior governmental office?

 Why? Did your missus keep her name? Mine didn't. How many people do you know personally that did that?

It's just weird imo that a larger %age in public life seem to think fit to do that. Even worse are the ones that hyphonate both names and keep them as a double barrelled jobby. Sorry for bringing out your maternal instincts for your beloved political party Paul. It's taking you a long time to learn that there is hardly one politician fit to mend another.

Of course this sordid sex scandal is not really an important issue given the theft from the state that she's guilty of but how does this keep happening? Every 3-4 months one of em is tripped up by the press /media / whistle blowing civil servants / parliamentary checks etc so how effin THICK are they to continue stealing as if they themselves are personally immune from discovery? How stupid is the party in not requesting all expense forms to be approved internally by the labour party themselves? (did I say 'internally'? oops! err no pun intended Jackie ;) )

She has to go of course but it hardly matters cos as I've said before the fact that somebody with so little depth, intelligence and bearing as Jackie Timney-Smith was ever put in that office is a bit of a joke and a sad indictment of our ruling party.

Now I know you have totally lost it. By your own words.

I mean, "did your missus keep her name" and "even worse are the ones that hyphonate both names and keep them as a double barrelled jobby".

I won't do the rest as it's there in your own gobbledegook.

Theno, stick to Blackburn Rovers, at least you were trying to argue something that was possibly logical.

I love the "THICK" oh and the "effing". Wonderful.

edit: oh dear, the police have been giving the L aa nn cashi rree Unnnii tedd name a going over. How petty of them.

Finally, Theno, I note that you made no mention of the journos at the Conservative "party" that got CS'd in parliament house yesterday? Any reason?

Been up for 15 or so hours, theno, it is evening here after all. Had a pleasant day all round.

All Paul said was that she elected to keep her name. That's not unusual, nor is the wish for some to combine their names. It's not dissimilar to people using nom de plumes on the net, is it?

And as for this little "sordid sex scandal", well you'd have been salivating over Profumo , Christine and Mandy, wouldn't you? Or is it just a Labour thing with you?

Nope nothing wrong with old JP.............Those two were well fit! Nowadays they'd be likely making the blueys.... not renting em! :tu:

btw hadn't Profumo already done the decent thing and fallen on his sword at this stage? Or am I right in thinking that modern day politicians are a lot thicker skinned and with a far lower standard of common decency?

At the end of the day WHY is it such a massive issue over somebody's husband watching two adult porn movies and putting it on the expenses when there are far more serious and important issues out there.

Is it all a smokescreen or distraction to take the focus away from something far more serious, I see the LT have published that between SIX local MP's have claimed almost 900k in expenses in one year that to me is a far more imprtant matter than two adult movies. For me i'd stand up for Jackie Smith and look at who is behind this, who are the mischief makers, they are the ones who need to be brought to book instead of the public being suckered into this saga.

C'mon Jal it's obvious that the politicians see no crime in fiddling, they only see the crime in getting caught.

There's always far more important things going on out there ; that doesn't excuse corruption .

This woman is as guilty as sin for fiddling the taxpayer with her "expenses" at every level . This isn't her first offence . The fact that it extends to her husband fiddling (if that's the right word) a tenner's worth of porn illustrates just how brazen they have become .

Sorrry , Jal , but you're defending the indefensible . Tory or Labour ; corruption is corruption is corruption .....

Hold on !

Two what, £9.99 videos and thats corruption, if thats corruption then surely we are all corrupt. Clutching at straws here, sorry was he in it  or thrutching at something, of all the misdemeanours going on all over the banking sector this is hardly something that should be brought to light with the ferocity of media attention it has brought - I dont buy it !

What i'm trying to say is this issue is deflecting media attention onto Jacqui Smith trying to fool us all, whilst they whoever they are get away with something far more serious - do you not think ?

So if a person is guilty of anything less than a "major" offence then it isn't an offence at all !

Stealing £10 from the public purse is fair enough then .

What about a hundred ? A thousand ? A hundred thousand ?

Even a million is chickenfeed compared to the billions lost in the city ...so let's forget about it eh ?

As I said before Smith has form for dipping into the taxpayer's pocket . This illustrates the contempt people like her have for the public ; they'll even take a few quid off us to watch a bit of porn !

Tell you what , Jal - you send her hubby a tenner and I'll forget about the whole matter .

(Oh ...and don't forget the tens of thousands they conned out of us for their "second" home expenses ....)

I think the point is that Jacqui Smith is defrauding the British tax-payer. There's no way her Sister's back bedroom is her main residence.

The fact that her old man watched a couple of bongo movies at the public expense, whilst not consuming funds that could be used to pay for a hospital, is symptomatic of the disregard that these people have for the taxpayer. I know that it was the husband (her parliamentary aide paid a not-inconsiderable 40k per annum) that watched it, and that she wasn't aware at the time, but she would've signed off for it.

They get paid 60k a year, that's if they're back-benchers, if they get into cabinet they make even more, plus they might have outside interests on top of that. And they claim expenses on top from teh people who put them into the job.

The sheer cheek is absolutely breath-taking.

It's a nice cosy little club, they're all getting a nice bit, so there's no danger of it all getting broken up because they make the rules.

Maybe they haven't *all* got their snouts in the trough, but it's hard to escape the suspicion that a good many have.

I'm just so mad about it. I can't see me ever voting for a major party ever again, **** 'em.
