[Archived] Blackburn Compact Disc Plant To Close

Recommended Posts

Just been told that the ex PDO compact disc plant at Philips is to shutdown its Blackburn operation and tranfer production to Germany with the loss of around 250 jobs.

Yet another big blow to the economy of Blackburn, wonder what 'black Jack' has to say on the continueing deterioration economy of the town.

Over a decade of Labour has ensured that it's easier to close factories in GB than it is in Germany . I reckon it's time for workers to wake up to the fact that this government doesn't give a flying to$$ about British workers . It never did - international big business comes first and foremost .

At least Maggie never pretended she cared .....

New Labour and the Conservatives are ONE, all controlled by greed, (no problem with that until it effects us) theres no waking up needed, soon the British worker will be a History lesson for our grandchildren, something that Britians did in the past with a modicum of success.

Its back to farming and survival.

Well , we agree there , Jal .

However there are simply too many people in the country for us ever to go back to farming in any meaningful manner .

Strangely enough the politicians who never stop blabbing on about global warming haven't quite got round to addressing the most effective means of prevention . Which is , of course , depopulating the country .

There are a few brave warriors though willing to speak out ........HERE

On reflection it could be argued that Labour's employment policies may after all contribute to significant falls in population ....suicide , emigration , starvation ...that kind of thing

The farming bit was tongue in cheek blue phil, going onto depopulating our sorry, sorry ploiticians and would be politicians are desperate for votes regardless of the consequences to us all so they let anyone who they can count on a vote into the country.

The Tories are more than happy to allow mass immigration as they drive the paid hourly rate of employment down to maintain as high as is possible profit margins.

Agriculture like so many other industries has been dilapidated over the years by a combination of eu farming policy, the supermarkets and successive government policy, but even with a vibrant ag industry firing on all cylinders the fact is that this country could not go half way to feeding a pop of 60m. Everything required above that figure has to be imported from around the world which is one dangerous situation to be in with our economy teetering on the brink. Feeding ourselves is perceived as an expensive option and unfortunately an option that irresponsible short term democratically elected governments will shirk away from.
