Hughesy Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 We must concentrate in this game - if we get to 80 minutes and its still 0-0 it will be squeeky squeeky bum time as Liverpool/ Gerrard always seem to find late winners. I just hope we can give them a game - im not too worried about the result - I wrote this one off a long time ago, so anything other than defeat would be a huge bonus.

Ray-Von Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Was chatting to a Liverpool fan at work earlier, apparently their message boards are full of talk that Gerrard is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury.
Hughesy Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Ooooooooh I hope thats true - title to Old Trafford if true.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I take the view that many other fans have probably taken, anything from this game is a bonus. In terms of lineup its going to be hard to predict what lineup we will start with due to the injury crisis we have up front. Will Benni play on his own? up front with Diouf?, up front with Samba? Roque might be fit if rumours are correct, however i personally wouldn't start with Roque. I'd rather get him fully fit for the more winnable games coming up.
Ossydave Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Exploit the zonal marking they use, like other 'lesser' teams have this season already i.e Stoke. I'm pretty sure Sam and his team are working on this if they've any sense in the build up to the game. Other than that we'll have to hope Mokoena can do an Essien-like job on Gerrard, won't hold my breath on that one though.
67splitscreen Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 We should no more later today, shame if he is out, I was looking forward to KA giving him a lesson in football. Groin scan today
waggy Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 i reckon we will see a arsenal like team on saturday, next saturday is far more important
Billy Castell Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I'm expecting Gerrard and co. to turn up with ripped shorts and green all over. Rafa may rest one or two, but so will we, and we'll lose 3-0. And look crap.
dr_awol Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Robinson Ooijer--Samba--Nelsen--Givet Diouf--Andrews--Dunn--Warnock Carlos Benni anything from this game is a bonus, we are lacking forwards so i think its about time we gave carlos a chance. the results depends on LFC attitude after a hard defeat.
Plastic Head Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 We should no more later today, shame if he is out, I was looking forward to KA giving him a lesson in football. When we played them at Ewood he just watched him and pointed....seriously
Jackson Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Excellent preview! Incidently, I saw Benni Mac in my gym last night (live in Cheshire) and he looked quite trim to be fair. So maybe he is taking his role seriously. That, or else tv does make you look fatter.
Backroom Tom Posted April 9, 2009 Backroom Posted April 9, 2009 Expecting a paggering but to be fair there's no shame in it and the win v Spurs has earnt us the chance to view it as a free game. Just hope Stoke do the business against Newcastle. Just watching SSN and toon fans reckon they're staying up just cause Shearer is there
Iceman Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Flopsy how dare you talk about cricket on here? Lol anyway i think if we get a draw, then fantastic. Im expecting a battering though, 4 or 5 nil. Aah well, bring on stoke!
Presty On Tour Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 It's about time we got something against a top 4 side. Tbh playing Liverpool in between Champions League ties is probably a good time to play them especially after the rattling Chelsea gave them last night. Obviously they are in a title race but their focus could waver and maybe we can turn them over. I hope we put up a fight like we did at Old Trafford and not roll over like the we did in the Ince Regime. Oh and Pedersen to score if he plays
MCMC1875 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I remember playing QPR in 1992/93. Shearer was injured at that point and there were another bunch of injuries. When we got to Loftus Road and heard the team we almost turned round and went back home. 7 outfield defenders in the team, and yet we went and won 3-0. A great night. The team that night: Mimms ,Brown ,Dobson ,Berg ,Hendry ,Moran ,Ripley ,Cowans ,Atkins ,Newell ,Marker It could be a similar sort of team, personnel-wise, on Saturday. I doubt anyone close to fitness will be risked, given the more winnable games coming up. "Park the bus" might be the tactic of choice. It's not going to be pretty, and I'll take a narrow defeat right now to protect the goal difference. We really don't need another Arsenal-type result. jra Went to Loftus Road in the spring of 1995 - what a good journey home that was!!
Blue n White Rover Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Oh and Pedersen to score if he plays You know what my reply is to that eh Presty
Mr. E Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Derbyshire has surely been recalled for this one, right?
John Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Allardyce accuses Reds manager of 'whingeing and moaning'
dave birch Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Can't see us getting anything out of this game, but, whilst we're there, we may as well try. Go for it, it may come off, but if it doesn't then there's not much lost. BTW, I've just read another totally unrelated article that shows the depth of Dileep. An interesting and challenging article that would have been deleted from the old ICBINF. If anyone wants a link pm me
philipl Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Well done Flopsy with the preview- worth waiting for!
tonyoz Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 more on Gerrard's fitness from bbc: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ool/7992142.stm
Fraserkirky Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Robinson Ooijer--Samba--Nelsen--Givet Diouf--Andrews--Dunn--Warnock Carlos Benni anything from this game is a bonus, we are lacking forwards so i think its about time we gave carlos a chance. the results depends on LFC attitude after a hard defeat. That would be my team as well. Only possible change being Tugay for Andrews. I would have Warnock man-marking Gerrard if he's playing.
LeChuck Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Derbyshire has surely been recalled for this one, right? You were joking there....weren't you?
67splitscreen Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Rafa, may risk Gerrard at the weekend and rest him for the Cheski match. It would appear he has given up on the CL.Boollocks
RoyRover Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 If we get a point out of this one, then it will be a bonus. We may as well have a go and see what happens.
