Ray-Von Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Nicky Reid for 95% of his time at Ewood was a central midfielder. He slotted in at right back occasionally when Chris Price played further forward.

Dave S Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Crompton did well playing on after WWII....... My mistake
Florida Rover Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Bill Eckersley also did score 21 goals from LB in 432 apps
Exiled in Toronto Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Wow - look at MacNamee's strike rate for a centre half. No-one who saw him score from the centre circle with an almighty toe-bunger will ever forget that one
only2garners Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Florida - I'd add Kevin Hird. Although Hird started as a midfielder he spent most of his time at full back and scored 21 goals from 149 appearances. Also not clear about whether old fashioned half backs should count as defenders but I think so. If so Ronnie Clayton (16 goals from 665 appearances) and Mick McGrath (12 goals from 312 appearances) should be added.
