bob fleming Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Isn't it a mock up of Jason Roberts' new garage?
stuwilky Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 It is indeed the model of the Riverside stand, its been in there since about 1994!
EwoodGlory Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 The club had planning permission for it ages ago. Iirc, plans for a hotel built into it we're discussed.
mattym Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 It is indeed the model of the Riverside stand, its been in there since about 1994! Well that explains that then !! thought I was on to something but never mind !!
10moorgate Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 The Riverside stand is probably too far away from the pitch in all honesty. Always thought that a side stand like the one all Preston would be good in place of Riverside. Holds the same amount-ish but is taller and closer to the pitch. Would help keep atmos in the place.
rovgers Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 yeah, I remember seeing it in the boardroom when I went on a ground tour a couple of weeks ago. The person giving the tour said it had been there since the mid 90's when they got planning permission.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 The Riverside should be left alone. It's what makes our ground unique.
67splitscreen Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 The Riverside should be left alone. It's what makes our ground unique. Unique as in, it's so out of place.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Unique as in, it's so out of place. Yes. I don't know many stadiums that have this look, but for me everytime I see the stadium on Telly, You can just tell it is Ewood Park by looking at that end of the ground. It's an antique and unique stand and should be left exactly how it is.
Sparky Marky Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Are you being serious.? The Riverside needs sorting big time...I'd like to get some sort of stading area over there with the other half being sitting nearer pitch..It's crap, always looks empty and with the people going home early walking by the players....that just takes the biscuit..
Hughesy Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 It would cost us too much to do right now, and isnt a priority. Maybe if we one day find an investor, he can come in and build a luxury stand? Maybe only holds 5000 still, but has more leg room etc with maybe a Hotel attached?
philipl Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Ah, happy memories ewoodglory! That wooden floor on the upper tier meant we could make a heck of a din stamping our feet when Rovers attacked!
OJRovers Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Has anyone thought we should just move the cameras to the Riverside stand... ...oh yeah, that's right, we can put man on the moon put it would be impossible to build a gantry which to put the camera on with a bit of extra cable...
Mr Maureen Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 The Riverside should be left alone. It's what makes our ground unique. Rubbish Bognor Regis Town, and Ebbsfleet United have similar stands. But its said that we have been punching above our weight for years so lets leave it there just in case.
b12_simon Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Has anyone thought we should just move the cameras to the Riverside stand... ...oh yeah, that's right, we can put man on the moon put it would be impossible to build a gantry which to put the camera on with a bit of extra cable... I heard that the costs of strengthening the existing Riverside to take a media gantry would be similar to rebuiding the stand (plus all the other media facilities are located in the Jack Walker stand). Particularly in the economic climate where we have to send Derbyshire out on loan to bring in Diouf and Givet I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any change to the Riverside.
gillibrand Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Maybe we could just build a film-set front over the Riverside so that it looks good on camera!
b12_simon Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Maybe we could just build a film-set front over the Riverside so that it looks good on camera! And stays the full 90 minutes
Neil Weaver Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Has anyone thought we should just move the cameras to the Riverside stand... ...oh yeah, that's right, we can put man on the moon put it would be impossible to build a gantry which to put the camera on with a bit of extra cable... ..... as long as the US govt or NASA pay for it I'm all for it.
rog of the rovers Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I think it wouldnt make sense as the Media facilities and lounges are in the Jack Walker stand. In fact the media centre is like 20 steps from the stand where the journalists and commentators sit.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Knock the Riverside down and build this well loved terrace structure again in its place!.................
