b12_simon Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 we did, but to celebrate the start of the football league (I think) and as it was against a founder member for the 1 game i'm sure they were given special dispensation for it. It may even have been pre arranged with the league before the start of the season We also one season had to wear our away top at home due to everton having a blue home and white away kit with no third strip!! How about Man U & Man City wearing 50s style tops for the Munich anniversary game, Spurs wearing a Rovers shirt for their anniversary and us wearing orange that time Sheffield Wednesday cleverly showed up at Ewood with their blue and white home kit?

Blue n White Rover Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 How about Man U & Man City wearing 50s style tops for the Munich anniversary game, Spurs wearing a Rovers shirt for their anniversary and us wearing orange that time Sheffield Wednesday cleverly showed up at Ewood with their blue and white home kit? I'm sure we made Chelsea wear their 3rd/training kit when we played them once due to kit clashes?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Red socks, red shirt, white shorts. The random dribble under Warnocks armpit is simply sweat and won't be incorporated into the shirt design*. *it'll be white with navy outlines or vice versa. EDIT: Oh, black letters too. In other words, it's one armpit dribble away from the last England kit.
jodrell Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Was it Ipswich who had to have new strip made mid season for one game against us? As both home and away strips clashed, but no other club..
Derby Blue Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 we did, but to celebrate the start of the football league (I think) and as it was against a founder member for the 1 game i'm sure they were given special dispensation for it. It may even have been pre arranged with the league before the start of the season It was for our 125th anniversary where we wore as close to our original kit as possible. No sponsors, no kit manufacturer logo, no names on the shirts and just 1-11 on the backs. looked great after getting used to it.
Stuart Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I don't know about anyone else, but although it's frustrating waiting for the big reveal, I'm impressed that the design hasn't been leaked anywhere.
novella Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Found this while looking around the net. I know the collar on the official website is red, but that could have been changed red at the last minute. I cant confirm if this is real or not.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That doesn't really fit the design but they could have thrown a red herring in I suppose.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I suspect its fake, noticed a few pixels out of place if you look closely. Though it looks decent.
Gumbi Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That was made by someone from the official boards. They also did some others in different colours.
novella Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I suspect its fake, noticed a few pixels out of place if you look closely. Though it looks decent. after i posted it i noticed a few things out of place as well. One thing i would note, is the stripes go right down the side, i have a feeling that the sketch on the website which shows the patch under the arms might turn out to be more like the design posted above.
martmitch Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 that black design aint bad, not as good as a red shirt but better than white would be
RoversFanUSA Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Tried to mock it up using the clues we already have. Only a quick attempt. USA!! USA!! USA!!
Mafioso Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I also think its not a geniune design. It doesnt look bad though, but the numbers on the official site are black, unless we are keeping player numbers a secret next season i doubt that could work. Unless of course the numbers are not really going to be black, who knows ?
Hughesy Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 So red shorts, red socks - white top with red & blue bits!?
alexanders Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I would love a black one, but doubt it. I also think it is Red with a white/blue stripe a la this years away shirt. Something like Rangers maybe?
Backroom Tom Posted May 12, 2009 Backroom Posted May 12, 2009 Looking good so far, it may just be my eyes but the red looks like quite a light red rather than a Liverpool/United red.
Hughesy Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Its a very bright red, but that could just be the lighting of the pictures. Either way it looks like we wont get to see it all until thursday as they only showed a tiny bit extra today.
LeChuck Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Pedro If Rangers let him go we should sign him. I think there's been a lot of us saying that consistently since he was a bench player at Spurs! Cracking little player and probably the only realistic replacement for Tugay around. It would have been nice if we'd got him a few years ago when he was in his mid-twenties, although I'd still happily have him here now... ...minus that awful kit, of course.
Hughesy Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Not good enough...he wasnt even anything special at Pompey. We need better quality that him im afraid. Lets look upwards not to just stay mid to lower table.

Lets look upwards not to just stay mid to lower table. You're way off the mark mate. Believe me, Pedro Mendes is more than good enough for us. If we could keep Grella fit they would be a superb partnership. I know a Pompey fan and she still worships him.
