Yeah but that goes against the whole point of the initative which is to 'take over ewood' again. I.e to put their fans where we cant see or hear them!!

Presumably why he put the smilie. To wind us up, although he's so far out of touch now that perhaps he was genuinely misunderstnading the idea!

Am I the only one who sees a flaw here? Next season when we play Burnley, United, Stoke etc, rubble will rain down on the fans below in torrents.

I'd suggest for Bumley and the red scum armed police in there with live ammo and instructions to shoot to kill ;)

Dosen't one of those clubs have to be promoted first? That's the whole idea of playoffs isn't it?

They will know how many tickets have been sold for the 3 games for £20 offer. I would imagine they would use the unsold tickets to go to West Brom fans and segregate this bit off in the Darwen lower. I would imagine it would be say 1/4 or 1/3 of the stand.

Are you saying a 1/3 rd of the Darwen End lower has been empty for the games against Wigan and Pompey?........eh  give over Orvill!

3,000 will be their lot like it or lump it....the way it should be!

Did not make it to Pompy but someone posted that there were empty seats down the side of the stand.

Correct, hence the empty seats...

I agree with the point before though - can you imagine Rovers fans in the lower tier against the likes of United, Burnley, Bolton, City, Stoke? They would be throwing allsorts down at them.

Iv done some rough figures -

Current total ticket money for away fans - Approx £1.42m (Based that on the away support being made up of 3/4 adults - 1/4 concessions and based on this years away fans turnout)

If we reduced that to 3000 tickets per team - We would lose approx £680k (Almost half of it)

However if we filled the lower tier (4500) @ say an average of £15 per ticket adult & £5 kids we would bring in around £1m. Therefore increasing the amount of money made in that stand by approx £300k

However you also have to think what impact it would have on ticket sales on other areas of the ground......?

I had a similar look at this and that was the key thing for me. The club would need to make season tickets better value and encourage those who 'walk on' in the other 3 stands to buy a season ticket - otherwise they'll just 'walk on' round to the Darwen end instead.

I bet it's got JW and co scratching their heads as we speak. If we did this we'd surely be looking at the lowest pricing in the PL and it has to be sustainable. If we lower the prices, the product quality may have to be reduced - and that could mean more Keith Andrews' and fewer Benni McCarthy's.

Someone suggested an idea on the official board that would be to make the whole darwen end lower a unreserved seating, season ticket area, so make the 4000 or so season tickets £200 a pop, with the very cheap price compensating fans for not having a regular seat, and for being moved maybe 3 or 4 times during the season.

Do people think that would work?

Not a bad idea - so is that moving of those fans for the Big away followings? It kind of goes against what Big Sam wants though.

Although would we not lose some of our 'normal' season ticket holders at £299+ to the £200 offer? Id argue that we would lose the majority of the 4500 to that section!

Although it was a good crowd and another good atmosphere against Pompey, I think the great support in the Darwen End was partly made up of fans that would usually sit in the Riverside and Jack Walker, I'm not sure what difference it made to the Blackburn End as it's hard to tell when you sat there yourself. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I think it is fantastic to have support on all four sides and hide the away fans up in the top tier out of the way.

Personally, I'd chose to have the Darwen End for home fans for ALL games next season, even for the likes of Man Utd. Lets get fans of Blackburn Rovers interested in coming down to get behind the team again, and lets welcome the fans that may not be able to afford a season ticket or can not mange to get to every game. we could charge a membership fee of around £10-£15 at the beginning of the season for fans to buy the right to cheaper tickets. we could also sell block tickets again like the last 3 games of this season, maybe buy Fulham, Stoke and READING tickets for £20/£25 for all three games and have a loyalty bonus scheme (using our key fob points cards) for fans to buy tickets for the Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal games.

I'd also like to see the automatic cup ticket scheme brought back, where when you buy your season ticket, you can opt for automatic home cup tickets to be posted to your home/work address monies deducted from your bank account automatically. I appreciate that it is not for everyone but i would find that extremely helpful as I and some of my friends who I go to the games with work out of town and it can be difficult to purchase tickets.

I apologise if these ideas have previously been discussed but i am new to this messageboard...

Emminently sensible in my opinion.

Possibilly, but if mine stayed at £299, i don't have a problem paying it because it guarentee's me the same seat for every game and i really like my seat. I think others would feel the same.

£250 season tickets in blackburn end/ Riverside etc (gauranteed seat)

£200 season ticket in Darwen End lower - however unreserved seating?

Morten - The cup scheme still applies doesnt it? I know it does for away tickets if you are signed up to it

I think a majority of Blackburn Enders would keep their seats even if there were cheap season tickets available. Most of us sit with the same people we used to stand with on the old Blackburn End, I personally wouldn't give up my seat to save £50/£100 over a season.

I feel that £299 for a season ticket on the Blackburn End is a bargain.Fair enough, Wigan are cheaper but Wigan struggle for support more than we do.

Anyway, do any of you go in the Blues bar at half time? If so what on earth has happened to the food and the service?

The Lancashire Telegrph gave a little insight the other week saying Rovers are looking into a scheme where everyone's season ticket price will be cheaper the more season tickets are sold.

So everyone could make a saving with whatever seat/end they have already!!!

I too think £299 is a bargain - however with the credit crunch, an already poor area in which we are based and lots of redundancies etc - Some people still find it expensive, especially families.

Id love to see - FREE kids tickets.
