[Archived] 'taking Back' The Darwen End

Recommended Posts

The obvious answer would seem to be to split the Darwen End down the middle for the Ewood Burnley game, but in any event I can see our friendly neighbour hood Police, never seemingly the most accomodating towards Rovers, not wanting the two sets of fans mingling outside the ground.

It would be a crying shame if the Darwen End were full of Rovers fans all season and full of Dingles for that fixture.

Theres four games, theres no reason they won't choose Burnley.

Man United

Liverpool

Burnley would sell more than Man City or Everton.

Still, I think the less Burnley fans the better, don't want them having double the amount of fans we get there.

i think the police will advise the club to put the Burnley lot in the top tier when they come to Ewood and i think they will assist on keeping the lower tier empty. It's a shame but i can see this happening

What makes everyone think they are going to misbehave WHEN, one, it will be a smaller more controlled following unlike in the past. Come on guys some of you seem a bit a panicky already get a grip guys you seem to be making them out to be something they arent .

Not growing up in Blackburn I never really got the Burnley rivalry until due to a catastrophic administrative error I ended up in the Longside stand last time we went to their place. The hatred was like nothing I've ever seen at a football match (or anywhere else for that matter). Thank god they didn't score because I'm not sure what I would have done.

There is no way the police will want to deal with 7,000 of those idiots. Has to be a restricted and well cordoned off group.

The reason there was no trouble last time at Ewood was that the Burnley fans were not allowed out of the ground until the Rovers supporters had got away. This worked very well.

It does not work at the Turf because the hate filled Burnley supporters just hang around to try to get to the Rovers supporters after the match.

Sad but true.

There's a lot of hype and frightened people on here I'm afraid,I will even go so far as to say the threat of trouble has gone OTT

How it should be done:

Burney are allocated 3,000 tickets sold only to season ticket holders on their clubs data base. They are escorted to the ground on buses. When the game finishes they are kept in for 10-15 minutes until the area is clear of Rovers fans.....whats the problem?

Its a fact with most Police forces that when there is a real threat of disorder at a game the away fans allocation is reduced so easier to control i.e. Millwall v Leeds in the playoff's......you simply DO NOT give them a bigger allocation!

Again it would be a crying shame if OUR fans cant get tickets for this game as demand would be massive...we have clearly seen what is possible with the last three home games.

Because we will shift all the Darwen End lower as season tickets. If they only bring 3k there will be even less trouble assuming others don't travel without tickets.

Only 15 games. Burnley will be chosen as one of the four, I am sure of it.

And regarding possible trouble, they brough 7000 last time, I am sure the police would view potential trouble the same now was they did then, meaning 7000 is a probability.

cant believe some people on this board ..... they need to get a grip and grow some backbone!

Maybe you don't mind being attacked by a crowd of hate filled Burnley supporters. I prefer a quieter life and returning home in one piece thank you very much.

Does anyone really think it'll be that bad? I went to both the home and away games when we played in the Championship and didn't have a spot of trouble. Obviously I didn't go out on the lash in either of the towns after the game but that would be different gravy anyway.

Give them the minimum and sort out the security however works best. I'm sure it won't be as bad as people are making out.

it wasnt directed at anybody in particular, just a general statement ..... 3000 in the top tier wouldnt present that much of a problem, a lot less than 7000 would - look at the example of leeds and millwall in the play-offs.

This is the whole point - The problem is not simply 3k vs 7k Burnley fans, its the fact that the Burnley and Rovers fans would be in the same stand....THAT is the issue.

Which is going to be easier to police?

a) 3,000 Burnley fans occupying half the Darwen End along with Rovers fans, both using the same turnstiles and the same entrance ways to the Darwen End. Both fans would sit in close proximity with the added problems of Burnley fans throwing objects from the top tier if they are located there.

or

b ) shove all the Burnley fans into the Darwen End, relocate the Rovers fans. Ship the Burnley fans in and out straight from the Darwen End allowing no time to meet any Rovers fans.

Its a no brainer. They are going to get 7k regardless of what anyone says on here. It would be far easier to cordon off the entire Darwen End from a policing perspective than it would be to segregate the two sets of fans within the stand itself. And im not a dingle for thinking any of that, it just sounds like common sense.

YES, it could VERY EASILY be that bad. When i was 9, we beat them 5-0 (hurrah!!). But a bunch of dingles in their late 20's beat me and my dad up. Dad was ok (just) but i was in a coma for 2 weeks. As a 9 year old!!! I'm not violent, but would quite happily shoot the guys who did that to us.

Not that i wish to tar all burnley fans as sick, but most of them ACT like total chavs.

It's a shame because if it wasn't for football rivalry being so hyped up, there could be many friendships made.

I have never ever understood some people. Why the hell are we such a walk over, EVERY other club has away fans in the same stand as home fans. Yet we are the only ones who have this "increase the allocation to minimise problems" mentality.

Shove the gets right at the back on the Darren End upper - netting over the front few rows - tickets will only be sold to regular away fans so any trouble makes can be dealt with on the back of the extensive CCTV coverage of the Darren End.

For gods sake - even if the lower tier is EMPTY that is better than 7000 of them.

Absolutely support this but would the club do it?

No.
