I would agree with that. It's the difference between being a Rovers' supporter - which I have been for almost 50 years - and a supporter of football in general. To me, as a supporter of the club, the well being of Blackburn Rovers must always come first. At the moment it is essential that the club remains in the Premiership by whatever means necessary. Big Sam has shown that he is capable of doing that. It might not be to everyone's taste but as long as we remain in the top flight he will have done his job. Ince tried to play pretty football and nearly destroyed the club.

Sadly, as someone has already said, no matter how cheap we make the tickets there is insufficient interest in the club to fill the stadium. I really don't see what more the club can do to get people into Ewood Park.

I completely agree with them comments, and alike yourself, I am disappointed we can't fill our ground on a regular basis. At the end of the day, the ground is simply to big in relation to our support.

As for the negativity, I just can't believe some people are moaning at the prospect of a free ticket! They'll be complaining about the view next, and saying that they have been placed in the sides of the Jack Walker Stand, near a pillar in the Riverside or have a seat towards the back of the Blackburn End Upper!

and a piggy back down to the ground thrown in.

Has it not occurred to anybody that for £50 extra one can have a season ticket for all the matches with a reserved seat and a side on view in the Riverside, mostly sheltered from the rain?

I would have thought that this is a better deal and until all the decent seats there are sold many would prefer that to the deal in the Darwen End.

Now that the Riverside is all but sold out people will have little choice but to go for the Darwen End.........Hopefully!

I know a few 'diehard' Rovers fans who never set foot inside of Ewood after we got promoted in '92,followed them all over the country prior to that.Their excuse?....where did all these new fans come from!

Nowt as queer as folk eh!.

I bet you cant wait to rub the Red rags noses in it!

Quite a few City fans I know are already moaning about the new glory hunting fans, even though they haven't even arrived yet as we have no glory to offer them so far. In fact you can still go on City's website and buy a very nice side view season ticket at a reasonable price (though obviously not as cheap as Rovers), so don't be too upset that Ewood hasn't sold out the Darwen End yet. There are only so many fans out there and I don't think you can just manufacture new ones with a £150 season ticket or an Arab takeover.

The rags I work with are HATING every minute of it. I can't describe how wonderful it is. Anyway I'm off to COMS now because our benevolent owners have laid on a free Doves concert at the ground tonight for everyone who bought our new home shirt, yet still some people are moaning on our forum because it's raining and they haven't organised a roof. Honestly!

The club have done the only thing possible with the City game. It is of course unfortunately that we dont have Fulham first game of the season, but hey ho.

The offer of a free ticket for Season Ticket holders is actually a stroke of genius, much credit for that one.

Now if only we did charge the City fans £42!!!

It looked like the City match would be chosen as the 4th game. It`s just unfortunate it`s our first home game of the season.

I`m not too disheartened though. The club`s offer of a complimentary ticket to all DE st holders is a very nice gesture indeed. They didn`t need to do it, but it`s nice they have done.

I find it sad that anybody can criticise the club for this marvelous gesture.

....As for the criticism of Sam`s tactics? Well, i know it wasn`t pretty last season but Sam was hired to do a job (keep us up) he did just that. He also said he`d try to play more football next season......let`s hope he keeps his word.

Personally, i liked it when Rovers had a reputation of being a dirty team in the early days of the Hughes era. It upset other teams, they feared playing us, we got under their skin & it annoyed the press!!! WHY? because we were good at it & took points off the so-called BIG clubs. If Sam could bring that "fear of playing Blackburn" back to Ewood, i for one would like it.

I don't really care what sort of football we play, as long as it gets the ball in the net and the game won. I am a Blackburn Rovers supporter and the point of my existence is to see my team win the games that it plays - the more the merrier as far as I am concerned. Two words. West Brom.

100% Mum.

People PLEASE understand we do not have the resources to play flowing football and win enough games to stay up.

That is why if Martinez at Wigan and Coyle get their sides to play the football they promoted last season, they will get relegated.

3 points at 5pm on a Saturday is what it is all about and Sam will provide enough of that next season

Totally agree, winning games is entertainment enough for me...I pay my money to see the ball hit the back of the net...Brazillian football is a bonus, but neat one twos and possesion isnt what gets talked about in the pub after the game, goals are...

Take the year we were Champions - we were accused of not playing attractive football, whatever that means, but going home every Saturday after smashing 3 or 4 in against someone was a real buzz.

If you want nice passing football - see West brom, Championship

If you want an attacking team - see Newcastle, Championship

If you want to stay up, with limited resources - see Blackburn, Bolton, Stoke

Survival in the prem is key to our future, we need to progress year on year (Which we were doing until Ince blew a hole in it all) - Sam is now putting together his own side, with more youth and pace - give him chance to work it his way. We are not Newcastle (although some Fans like Abbey seem to be very similar to their fans) and we are not Tottenham or Villa (who seem to think they can break the top 4 every year). We are Blackburn Rovers FC, one of only 4 premier league winners.

sounds to me like the club are offering a free ticket to the first X people who but a DE ST..

the problem is 90% of the people who got the 3 for £20 last season will either be on the dole/income support or people who just cannot afford to go to games when tickets are priced normally.. so this 90% of people can never afford £16.50 a month (with the £15 dd fee added on of course) and what the best that £20 actually turned into £60 or even £80 after travel, beer, food ext ext

where it is a excelent idea from the club, they seem to be aiming it at the wrong people

In all likelyhood, many who were considering buying and delayed will now opt for the DE, rather than be stuck behind a stanchion, or be banished to the elements and random passers by of the front row of the Riverside. At least they will be able to sit with their mates.

As for the 90% of 'do-nowts' who can't afford to sever 150 quid from their annual alco-pops and cigarette budget, well football was never free, even when it was still the 'people's game'. I knew a lad who was short of the match fee and decided to knock some of his mum's fireplace out with a lump hammer, to make up the short fall, so he could go watch a home match once, 'cos he remembered that 50 pence had fallen and lodged down a crack several weeks earlier. Quite resourceful of him really. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Maybe the missing 90%-ers should start checking down the back of their sofas.

Oh for f***s sake this is ridiculous, 50 THOUSAND packs have been sent out, maybe to the moon, but let's get 3 things straight at least:

Everyone who knows there's a BRFC at Ewood knows when the season ends and starts, and has acted accordingly. There are adverts all over taxis, buses, bus shelters, the local paper, the local radio ... ... ... Current ST holders were lining up to renew on the first possible day.

Everyone who knows there's a BRFC at Ewood BUT DOESN'T LIVE IN THE AREA is LIKELY to know someone who DOES live in the area, who can pass on the good news about cheap Season Tickets. Family, friends, etc etc.

Everyone who knows there's a BRFC at Ewood and doesn't live in the area and DOESN'T KNOW ANY OTHER BRFC FANS WHO MIGHT HAVE SEEN THE CHEAP ST MESSAGE ... are the most likely people to have seen the internet publicity and maybe had calls on their mobiles from BFS - because they keep in touch with the club through those channels.

The paper has it, the radio has it, the TV has featured it, the world knows.

To deal with your point StuW - do YOU know of anyone who is unaware of the deal on offer at Ewood? Because I don't ... working in Glasgow, London, Dublin Liverpool, Edinburgh - we used to spark interest with the players we signed, but none of the above clubs find any interest there now.

But they do know about our season tickets. THEY KNOW ABOUT OUR SEASON TICKETS!! You get in a Glasgow taxi and they know. You get in a Dublin taxi and THEY know. The marketing can't be that bad.

And even people in Fife, Perthshire, and West Lothian know and have all got their season tickets. And these are people that have NEVER had a pack and don't even know what a pack is . I am one of them by the way.

I just did a count of how many season tickets have been sold in the Darwen End and the figure I came to was 465 (not including the bottom row).

Plenty of time to go..it looks like anyone wanting match tickets on the day will end up in the Darwen end anyway as the Blackburn end and the Darwen Stand has sold out...

I honestly feel the club could charge a £1 a game and we still wouldn't sell out, there is simply not enough interest in the club. At the prices we're charging i can't believe more people don't want season tickets.

We may well sell out but I can guarantee now 100% that people would still find something to moan about. Possible examples: -

"It amounts to £20.19 when you spread the costs on direct debit - they're making £1.19 out of us the robbing gets"

"31,000 Season Ticket holders?!- I preferred it when Man City used to come to town and urinate all over Darwen"

"It's too noisy these days"

"If they charged us £1000 a season like a proper football club we might be able to buy some more players from MK Dons"

"It's cheap alright but I'll never set foot in that place again until Sam grows his 'tache back"

"We were going to buy 22 seats, at great cost, in N01 on the BBE - apparently they can't accomodate us, we're too late. Well I don't remember John Williams coming round univited and telling us all about this season ticket thing, I only heard about it when I came back from Mars last week. I'll not be treated like this so I'm going to bitterly sit at home and play with myself for the entire season instead."

Thats the problem though - they would rather have a 6 pack of carling a week than put it towards a direct debit.

That`s a bit of a sweeping statement Hughesy

I know alot of people who are Rovers fans but don`t go that often....or not at all.

Many of them have large families & have to scrape & save every penny to clothe, feed & keep a roof over their heads.......& hopefuly take a family holiday once a year.

To many many people, Blackburn Rovers season tickets don`t even register on their radar.....they`re too busy trying to keep their heads above water.

Not everybody has spare cash to splash on footy every week........& they`re not all "6 pack of Carling" types either.

I`m lucky enough this year to be able to afford a season ticket. Last year i wasn`t.
