That`s a bit of a sweeping statement Hughesy

I know alot of people who are Rovers fans but don`t go that often....or not at all.

Many of them have large families & have to scrape & save every penny to clothe, feed & keep a roof over their heads.......& hopefuly take a family holiday once a year.

To many many people, Blackburn Rovers season tickets don`t even register on their radar.....they`re too busy trying to keep their heads above water.

Not everybody has spare cash to splash on footy every week........& they`re not all "6 pack of Carling" types either.

I`m lucky enough this year to be able to afford a season ticket. Last year i wasn`t.

My mate has had to give up his and his sons season ticket because his work has been laid off numerous times already this year. His Sky subscription has gone as well. For some it is purely belt tightening.

I think the 6 pack of carling brigade should opt for a cheaper Netto six pack, the savings over the 10 motnh period are equivelent to £150 and hey presto just enough dish for a ST..

All in jest folks, see you all in 2 weeks, Holiday time.

I just did a count of how many season tickets have been sold in the Darwen End and the figure I came to was 465 (not including the bottom row).

That's strange, they also never make the first row of the JW lower or first 3 rows of the Riverside available online.

It's fairly obvious Rovers don't sell out. I was thinking it could be possible for the club to have their disabled areas similar to Wigan's. Cut a chunk out of a couple of areas further back in the stands - it wouldn't cost much and wouldn't detriment our crowd numbers.

maybe this idea would also show some respect and service for our disabled members who pay good dollar and suffer the worst in terms of view and weather.

Let's hope someone from the club reads this and takes note!

Very good idea but not sure how viable in terms of accessability higher up in the stands. Never been in the lower tier of the JW, is there room to construct ramps suitable for wheelchair use? or even a lift? Not paid much attention to it at other grounds so not sure how they manage it.

Seems to be that it would have been something that should have been considered at the planning stage of the stadium.

There are lifts in all the stands apart from Riverside so people can get up to concorse level at least. Where to go from there would need thinking about.

That shows how much attention i pay at ewood, never even noticed a lift before.

Thats hopefully the major part sorted out then, is it that hard to modify one existing entrance to the stand to be wheelchair accessable? Not a structual engineer so can't comment really.

On the face of it, it does seem a good idea, however, can the club currently afford to remove seating which will ultimately reduce the ability to generate income?

At this point Mum will probably shake her fist at me but hopefully she sees my point.

If we were to build a new stadium, where it could be part of the initial design, I would be in complete agreement. The Wigan layout is excellent and enables people who aren't able to get themselves up stairs and into a seat to have a great view of the pitch and stay dry.

I'm not sure it's sound business sense to spend money to reduce the availability of those seats in the ground which do currently generate income. Now, if we were to change the Darwen end around to accommodate similar covered areas, that might more of a goer.

Reading has received awards for their disabled facilities at the Madejski Stadium, but you have to remember that alike Wigan's, it is a new ground. The Madejski is sunken, meaning that you walk straight from the concourse to pitchside without climbing many steps, and are already half way up the stand. I believe it would be quite difficult for Rovers to build a diabled facility further up the stand, but it would be a good move from the club.

Only 14 seats remaining in the Blackburn End Upper Tier Block N08.

We are not Newcastle (although some Fans like Abbey seem to be very similar to their fans) and we are not Tottenham or Villa (who seem to think they can break the top 4 every year). We are Blackburn Rovers FC, one of only 4 premier league winners.

Exactly why I was so against the daft idea of making part of the JWL into a singing area. Mr Roversmum is able to get to his seat there on his crutches. There are usually spaces in the JWU though, couldn't part of that be adapted? I've said before, when the Fraser Eagle stand finally collapses into the river, decent disabled facilities should be the first consideration in a new stand. Jisty, have you any idea how difficult life is for these disabled folks and their helpers? It would be so nice if they had proper facilities to enjoy watching their football and I'm sure there must be some grants available from somewhere to help with the cost for such facilities to be provided.

Hey, please don't misunderstand me. I'm absolutely not trying to belittle those people who struggle to get about and their carers. I strongly believe that, barring extreme cases, disabled people are only disabled because society doesn't enable them - if you see what I mean.

I'm just looking at it objectively - easy to do when I'm in the fortunate position not to have to worry about such things (and hope to God I'll never have to). Turning part of the Jack Walker Stand into areas like the Wigan ones though is not the same as a singing area - which would still have seating and therefore the same amount of income potential. With an arrangement like the one at Wigan, there would no doubt be some health and safety ruling which meant that an area which could seat 100 people would only be able to accommodate about 10 wheelchair-bound people. From a commercial perspective, this wouldn't be something that the club would necessarily look to arrange. It may sound cold and I apologise if so.

As mentioned, if we were to build a new stadium - or even have need to rebuild the riverside, then this would be a good opportunity to accommodate dis-enabled supporters but not reducing the overall capacity in that stand.

Just a point here, lifts are no good for disabled people in football grounds, electrical faults etc would render them useless and in emergency situations, the disabled person would not be able to get out of the ground!!

For me, the sensible option is the Fraser Eagle Stand, its accessable for wheelchairs and is flat for entering the concourse,

I feel sure that the club could use one of the outer areas with a ramp to take the supporters to a few rows back so that it is covered, the cost would be minimal and there would be easy access for toilet facilities and refreshments!!

It would cost the club around 50 seats per match but accomodate the disabled supporters in more comfort than present!!

Yes a number of people on here mentioned it at the beginning of last week - they have all been done I think?!

I requested a transfer, for a seat higher up in the Blackburn End, but still haven't heard anything yet from the club. My Onerover Account shows I have purchased 2 season tickets, when I have only applied for the 1, but it does show on there that my seat has been moved.

Will I not be contacted via post?

Probably, but it's probably quicker and easier to give the ticket office a call.

Is there anyone who has requested a seat transfer, heard anything from the club regarding the change?

Yep early last week they rang to confirm we'd been moved to the back of the B'Burn End.

A couple of disabled areas (similar to Wigan/Reading) could be put in the present Riverside. The seats that are removed could then be re-sited at each end of the stand, as unlike the BBE, DE and JW there is a staircase at the very end which isn't necessary for such small blocks of seating. That way there are better facilities for the disabled without reducing capacity.
