...and anyone who buys a seat which is found to be occupied by a City fan should be banned, and the scumbag who works at Rovers sacked, he probably took a back hander too <_<

I am taking a City fan to the game in the JW Upper. He can buy the ale and cry in his beer. And if Rovers try and ban me then they can sod off.

I don't know about you but I admire fans who are so desperate to get into a game that they will blag a ticket in the wrong end, as long as they are prepared to keep their mouth shut and respect where they are. I've done it a few times when I couldn't get a ticket in the City end, including Old Trafford. I even stood up and tried to look pleased when they scored. Imagine doing that at Turf Moor.

Done it plenty of times myself. In the past i would do anything to get in the game. Lost count how many times i have sat in the home end. The only time i couldn't keep my mouth shut was the win at Everton in the title season. We scored in the first minute and about 5 minutes later. 3 of us all stood up cheering. We got some right stick but to be fair to the Evertonians, they didnt kick off.

I'm sure all clubs have fans who drink alcohol before football games, and have a percentage who act like knobs. We'll have 7,000 here and a bit of a party atmosphere I think. I'll probably have about 5 pints of Carling in me at kick-off time but I'm a grown-up. I'll be behaving myself.

Here here. nothing better than an away game with a full end, plenty of beers and a party atmosphere. Got to say the City fans are pretty good at it !

You know what it was like a few years back with them idiots all over the ground... but to be honest I was getting at those Rovers fans who are just buying them for any idiot who comes along and offers them a tenner, they should be banned. 2 mates sitting together supporting either side is a bit different.

Exactly the same thing with me!We were in the main stand surrounded by Everton fans who'd had season tickets there forever.I sat on my hands for the first goal but when the second went in I just went off, couldn't help it! A few grumbles from them but that was all.

I think many on here Joe are still 'scarred' by the infamous 2001 City promotion game at Ewood.I too dont think there's any harm with the odd away fan in home areas so long, and as you say, they are respectful of where they are and dont take the pish.

The only real area where infiltration by City fans could happen is in the JW stand anyway with both the BBE and Riverside are both sold out virtually.

I'll never forget that game. May 2000 it was, and I had a ticket in the City end, lower tier. If I hadn't been able to get one I would have been in a Rovers part of the ground. I realise no-one likes other fans taking over their ground or town for a party (I remember Souness's programme notes saying as much), and I'm sure plenty City fans on that day acted like idiots... but I'm glad a couple of other posters on this thread have compared it to Rovers title push and in particular the Everton away game. I'm sure plenty of Rovers fans found a way into the home ends at Anfield too.

If you're a football fan who loves your team, you'll do anything you can to get to the big games. For us City fans this opening game is a big game. There's a lot of hope and expectation but most of us can't quite believe we may be about to challenge the big 4, and I'd say the first few games - especially aways - are more important to us than any other Prem team in defining our season.

Some of those comments on the city site are real classics though...

´Wondering if theres anyone that knows what block the city fans will be taking up in the home end?´

´oh you sad blackburn fan just bought 3 tickets for blackburn end, city will take over ewood that day just like in the promotion year.cannot wait.´

Sounds like the usual nonsence to me. Every time since that city game in 2000 teams are supposed to have bought 100´s or even 1000´s of tickets in the home end. Havent heard a peep out of them and ive never seen them. It will be the same for the opening game of the season. Besides where to they expect to go, the riverside and bbe will be sold out!

They are full of cr@p, I work with a couple of City fans who reckon they and people who they know have purchased tickets for the BBE, they were a little embarrassed when I showed them that the BBE is sold out to season ticket holders. It will be funny to see them queueing to try to buy tickets on the day then having to go and watch the game in a pub!!!

They are way above their stations, hopefully this season they will be brought back down to earth with a bang.

On another note, apologies if this has already been posted earlier as I have just returned from holiday, existing season ticket holders are to use last seasons season ticket card for the new season.

Post the postcard into next doors letterbox (after you've removed your details) ;)

My first ever Seaon Ticket arrrived this morning :D roll on the 15th, I can't wait!

That's Loyal. How many games from Ireland do you think you could make? You must be in the running for Long Distance ST of the year.... Good effort. Hope they put it in for you this year. With the signings though and the Dingles I think this could be a helluva year.

Think I'll be outdone by the bloke (he's on the official boards) from Switzerland who gets to most home games  or the bloke who was on airline and came over from Germany a a few years ago.

I'll probably only get to 6/7 games a season but it's worth it given the price and I happen to know of a fair few Irish fans who have bought them this season :tu: Personally I'm glad I did buy mine now as the tickets for the Dingles game look like they'll be hard enough to get, I'm on standby to buy a lad from Dundalk and extra one or two for his mate

Same here - Which you calling the main Everton stand 47er the one opposite where the away fans are ?- a few of us where in the midlle tier directly opposite on the day , as where many more we found out when the goals went in. An Everton fan was sat in my seat when we got in - had to get them to move without revealing loyalties- just after we scored the first goal and it was just automatic reaction - comical to say the least. :rover:

Yep--the big one where the Directors sit. I was in the middle tier of it more or less directly over where the players emerge. I remember 3 lads 4 or 5 rows behind us leaping about and copping some stick!

I only got a new one through changing status, no one else in this house has got a fixture list, they keep their old cards.

The club had 20,300 fixture lists printed - so I would have thought they intended to give one to every season ticket holder.

I was on the same side as the away end, but right down at the other end, near the main home end.

We did have really good intentions of staying quiet, but no sooner had we sat down we scored.

It couldnt be helped !

Never thought i would hear it but on the way out a good majority of the Evertonians were wanting Utd to win the league after our performance.

Only time i can remember the Rovers constantly lumping the ball to the far side of the pitch.

Trouble is a fair few of the JW upper are not made available as they are reserved for sponsors, schools etc so you can probably minus a thousand or so ST sales from your figure, also the first 3 rows of the riverside are greyed out for some reason, as well as the first row of the JW lower, so again you could potentially take a few hundred off that figure. With this in mind the total sales figure is probably more likely to be 18,500.

Doubt we have sold that many - last official figure I got was the 18k one last week, from what I was being told, we were at about 18,600 on monday this week - Still awaiting something official but cant see 19,900 being true.

Ok didn't know that.

RS x 3 rows 606

JWLT 1 x row 257

Can we add 'City fan paying DD and will cancel after Aug 15th' to the poll?

Might get season ticket sales back down to previous years totals! :D

Buy seriously, have we really sold nearly 20,000? I bet that hasn't happened since the late 90s, maybe even since 1995/96?
