bobsterbrfc Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Good luck to Th'Axe! A good player doing when he has to do the job he's best at! I'll be looking out for him next season and in South Africa 2010. Favourite Mokoena Memory: The Semi-Final Vs. Chelsea; played very, very well that day, on an afternoon that lives and will continue to live long in the memory of our, what was then, "Small Town in Europe"!!!
Billy Castell Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thank you Axe. You were not the most gifted, but you gave a crap and tried your best. Any idea of any fee?
RoverRich Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 One of the few positive things to come out of his stay was that goal vs Sunderland this season which deservedly won him the goal of the season award today so at least he has something to take away from his time here but it is about time we got rid. He has given us fans enough torment with his 'ability' so the Pompey fans can now endure it. If he is going to play regularly for Pompey next season then I would not be surprised to see them struggling again.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thank you Axe. You were not the most gifted, but you gave a crap and tried your best. Any idea of any fee? He's out of contract.
The Rover of Finland Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thank you Axe. You were not the most gifted, but you gave a crap and tried your best. Any idea of any fee? He was out of contract and Pompey must be out of mind!
Billy Castell Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Oh yeah. Some wages saved then. Hope he plays against us next season. Pompey are going to lose a good few good players, and Aaron isn't the man to bring in.
Lathund Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 We knew he was going quite a while ago really, just not where. I have nothing against the guy, did always work hard and played a part in keeping us up in 2005. So thanks for that Aaron. However it was in the best interest for both us and him that he left. He wants regular first team football, but isn't good enough to get it here, and costs too much to have on the bench. Good luck Aaron, and I hope to see you marking Samba on set pieces when we play Pompey
Hughesy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Davies out, Mokoena In = Ouch!! Pompey relegated next season
Parsonblue Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Good luck to Aaron. He may have been limited in ability but he always gave 100 per cent when on the pitch. He helped keep us up during the season that he arrived and was excellent when Savage was out with a broken leg. I hope he does well with Portsmouth - he's a decent guy.
Blue n White Rover Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Best of luck Aaron, as we all know he was a very frustrating player to watch, however, when we 1st bought him in he done a job and that helped us survive. Thank you and Goodbye!
Backroom DE. Posted May 24, 2009 Backroom Posted May 24, 2009 Thanks for the effort, Axe, if nothing else. Portsmouth to go down next year?
robborover Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Ha ha ha ha ha! I thought it was a joke but it's come from Aaron himself. No way backwards passing! Great news, the only problem is that we now need about 3 new midfielders.....
Backroom Tom Posted May 24, 2009 Backroom Posted May 24, 2009 Thanks Aaron, always commited to the cause and helped us out big time a few years back. Hope you make the squad for 2010.
bigbrandjohn Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thanks Aaron, always commited to the cause and helped us out big time a few years back. Hope you make the squad for 2010. Agree, did a job and gained confidence when he had an extended run and a stable position. May be that will hapen with Pompey. Good luck.
Blue blood Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Davies out, Mokoena In = Ouch!! Pompey relegated next season A few more of these types of swaps in player quality and most definately. Pompey must be in dire financial straits to be replacing such quality with such dross. Although perhaps he's only just been signed as a squad player there, and they'll get someone else in to replace Davis. Incidently wouldn't be averse to having Davis in our team. Not sure that if I were a Pompey fan that I'd be too encouraged with this type of signing. Anyhow thanks for the effort Mokoena, much appreciated. If only you had learnt to pass he'd have been a stunningly good player.
RovertheHill Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 He just can't, He just can't, He just can't, Control his feet. Don't tell me bout the sunshine Don't tell me bout the moonlight Don't tell me bout the good times Tell me bout Mokoena Always gave his all, but his second touch was always a tackle, any pass over 5 yards was a no-no and head must have been shaped like a ten-bob as headers could go absolutely anywhere. Good luck at Portsmouth
Amo Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 At least some of the Pompey fans are taking it well: actually he is a decent player, I wouldnt say unkown, he has in fact played over 100 games for Blackburn. He is similar to PBD. big and powerful. At least the management (club) recognise that irrespective of the situation we are going to be in next season we need more bodies in midfield. Infinitely better than both hughes and mullins imo. can also play across the back four and do a steady job. A good signing i think but hopefully he is a squad player.
