Hughesy Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Losing track here. Is he the "good one" Nicko referred to ages ago (who we thought was a striker) or a separate target entirely? No the really secret, good one is a striker. This is a freebie that looks likely.

thenodrog Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 has he? can't find that anywhere Look harder....... I bet it's between his leg and his foot.
RevidgeBlue Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 No the really secret, good one is a striker. This is a freebie that looks likely. Ta. Certainly fits the bill in terms of being the right age and as regards his physical stature.
thenodrog Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Roque has again said that his comments were lost in translation. He does not mind staying at Rovers yada yada yada: http://uk.reuters.com/article/footballNews...27?rpc=401& SA must have had a strong word with his agent, along the lines of 'don't let RSC burn his bridges'.
Torgeir Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Could the mystery man be Pavel Pogrebnyak? Better than Kuranyi surely If Coyle was in the frame though, wasn't there an Argentinian Nicko was raving about in January that Burnely failed to sign? Can't remember his name but he's rotting in some mediocre side I think.
ROVERS Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 http://fourfourtwo.com/news/england/31640/default.aspx Will this signal a lost of a potential 20 million or a gain of an extra 5 million on top of the 20 million ?
blue/white Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Civelli is more than a useful player. Hope he comes onboard... what sticks out most for me is the number of goals he scored in waning moments that served to obtain points for Banfield and also for Gimnasia. These invariably came from set pieces and goalmouth pile ups..... it's not Messi' beautiful game, but it works for him. He has a younger brother that also emerged from the Banfield youth setup that has produced strong players such as the once excellent (now washed up) Bilos, Ajax frontman Dario Cvitanich & Palermos' Nico Bertolo amongst others. I've seen him play his strongest football as a central defender, which might be useful if we see a return of the Admiral's fitness issues. Or, it may liberate SAmba to an exclusive attacking role (which scares me). Anyway, good pickup for Rovers. Nicko, I know you're sleeping off the day, but any rumblings about Javier Pastore. This is the IT guy down here.
Eddie Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Wow. He's massive! 6 foot 4". We were linked by fans FC I think about a week ago. Shows they do know something. Over to Eddie. What is he like? As good as Gael? He's better than Givet. He's a better centre back than Givet is and also a better fullback (although they obviously play on opposite sides, but you see what I mean). Very good palyer and will be suited to this league. Great signing on a free. He's never fully established himself in Marseille, but they have some good options and more established players, so that isn't an indication of his ability.
Nate Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 6'4! Yikes. According to his Wikipedia page (I know, I know) he's a specialist right back who has recently found himself playing at centre back and doing pretty well. Sam is probably drooling over the thought of him and Samba as a pairing. I'm 6'4. Damn all you short people!
patrickvalery Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Somebody mentioned the other day about Sam looking for a smaller squad but those in it being more versatile. Seems whoever it was might be correct. Can't say i've ever seen this Civelli play, but he sounds like he has a bit about him. At 6'4" its another clear signal of our intent. Not gonna be pretty is it!! Not that i'm complaining. If it gets us mid table next year i'll be a happy man.
Iceman Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Just imagine we get in Crouch and Zigic as our strike pair. We get a corner, up steps, Crouch, Zigic, Samba, Civelli, Nelsen and Mbami all waiting for Mbia to put the ball in the 18 yard area. I would feel really sorry for a team with lightweight defenders, or short defenders. We will batter them lol.
Bobby G Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 On paper he sounds a good player, but I havent seen him play. Cant see how he is a right back at that size. Unless we play we a very defensive back four.
hawkiiz Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Just imagine we get in Crouch and Zigic as our strike pair. We will batter them lol. we need to find someone able to cross though i really like the vibes coming out of ewood these days. great ST deals. grella super-happy, MGP in contract talks, santa is happy (or whatever he said...), Givet seems to have signed(?), loads of players linked, and they seem good. even Tuncay! could be fun! and to top it we have got rid of some dead meat
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I see we have been linked with Matias Fernandez again, Bolton also are reported to be interested: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...-Fernandez.html Can't see much in it myself, if Sam didn't rate Carlos and felt he couldn't cut it in this league i don't see how Fernandez can. On another note I agree with Torgeir, Pavel Pogrebnyak would be a fantastic signing.
Ewood and I Would Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I'm 6'4. Damn all you short people! Me too! It's not THAT tall guys
imy9 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 He's better than Givet. That is excellent news if it comes off, so we are signing an Ooijer replacement with Zurab leaving too, that should save some wages.
nicko Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 One thing that strikes me about Zurab leaving is that the money takes the pressure off selling Warnock...
Bobby G Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Thats good news. He is our player of the year, at least officially and he is a committed player. Id like him to stay. Even though I highly rate Zurab, making money on selling him is a good little bonus. Nicko, how far along is the deal for the mystery striker? And also, is there anything to us and Tuncay?
unluckymorton Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 That is excellent news if it comes off, so we are signing an Ooijer replacement with Zurab leaving too, that should save some wages. Has Zurab put in a transfer request? He's a very good substitute, and as far as I've heard he doesn't kick off because he's not playing regular football. I rate Zurab and I think he's the sort of fringe player we need. One thing that strikes me about Zurab leaving is that the money takes the pressure off selling Warnock... Are we under pressure to sell Warnock or is that just rumour?
modes98 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Has Zurab put in a transfer request? He's a very good substitute, and as far as I've heard he doesn't kick off because he's not playing regular football. Zurab is the nicest guy in the history of the world, he would never put a transfer request in. He's got an amazing car as well.
philipl Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Bolton and Blackburn are fighting it out for Villarreal's Chile international Matias Fernandez. The 23-year-old midfielder will make a decision once the Spanish season ends at the weekend. (Full story: The Sun) Blackburn striker Matt Derbyshire has conceded he is ready to make his loan move to Olympiakos a permanent one. The Greek side are lining up a £3m bid for the 23-year-old. (Full story: Daily Star) And Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is ready to raid Marseille for Argentine defender Renato Civelli. (Full story: Daily Mirror) From the BBC this morning
RoyRover Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I like the sound of the players that we are interested in. Civelli, Mbia, M'bami and Fernandez would all certainly bring depth and added quality to the side. The signing of Givet will be a great bit of business. Another Marseilles player that we should look at and who wants to come to England is their Albanian captain Lorik Cana. He's a great defensive midfielder, who would be a far better option than Vince Grella! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11810_5344641,00.html
Bobby G Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 We are finally being linked with players better than our current lot and thats the first time in a while and the fact that in some cases we dont have to splash over the top for them, makes it even sweeter.
philipl Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 What's happening at OM? They are runners up in the Championat and half the team is leaving.
