nicko Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Are we under pressure to sell Warnock or is that just rumour? Tottenham would take him tomorrow if they could...and Villa would probably match them. But if there is cash for Zurab then that helps to strengthen the Rovers hand in any negotiations for other players. It would be quite a significant and unexpected sale if Zurab goes. There may even be late Premier League interest in him.

ROVERS Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 zurab will have to go....... helps him, helps us. Been one of the key performers that keep us afloat few seasons ago, but was terribly embarassed by petrov (ManCity) 2 seasons ago, which i think was the starting point of the downfall for him. also a link to a FOOL comments on us. http://www.jeffwinterentertainmentandmedia...oi/0809054.html
hawkiiz Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 sorry if asked earlier, but what kind of trasfer kitty do we think rovers got this time?
Hughesy Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 If Zurab went aswell as Ooijer then I think that signals that Warnock is staying too. One thing that strikes me about Zurab leaving is that the money takes the pressure off selling Warnock... Thats what I thought too - any idea of the fee being mouted for Zurab? Who are the suitors for him? What car? Bentley
modes98 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 What car? A very classy Bentley with the most amazing wheels ever! Best in the car park and was parked right next to the chrome machine.
unluckymorton Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Tottenham would take him tomorrow if they could...and Villa would probably match them. There may even be late Premier League interest in him. Yeah, I'm sure the likes off Spurs, Villa and Man City would sign Warnock like a flash. I also understand something has got to give to give us a stronger hand in the transfer market. I'm not sure how happy he is but at least he know's he's one of the first names on the team sheet.
T4E Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Zurab has been a fantastic servent to this club, I'll be sad if he goes. Very interesting about Civelli, thanks for your comments Eddie. Sam is certainly imaginative.
Eddie Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 What's happening at OM? They are runners up in the Championat and half the team is leaving. They're changing around their squad quite a bit, they're probably going to let 5-6 go this summer but they're bringing in a few as well. Just yesterday they were linked with Naldo. French clubs are almost always selling clubs and struggle to hold onto players, the turnover is generally pretty fast.
joey_big_nose Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 So it looks like we have Civilli, Fernandez and M'Bami on the radar. Plus I think Pogrebnyak is the new striker that Nicko is referrring to. I might be wrong. Although he fits the profile. Great player with fitness problems, and available on the cheap. If we got those four in, on top of Givet, before the sale of Roque then we would be in a fantastic position. We would have lost six in Ooijer, Zurab, Vogel, Mokoena, Derbyshire, Tugay for those five. A huge uplift in quality. Perhaps pie in the sky at the moment though. Not even Givet is fully signed yet!
M2XLY Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I feel really sorry for Zurab, he comes in as cover and does an awesome job but is dropped as soon as the others are fit! he deserves first team somewhere! anyone know who is interested in him?
Majiball Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 On paper he sounds a good player, but I havent seen him play. Cant see how he is a right back at that size. Unless we play we a very defensive back four. Civella is a good player he will be a welcome addition to the squad, Sam's alway liked strong full-backs in his 433 formation. Thats bought a smile to my face after VDM and PLove. Sam on transfers The last part has subdued some of my worries over Sam's assumed potential targets. Hopefully we can stick to that policy so we can move forward.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Didn't Pavel Pogrebnyak put our club down during the winter transfer window saying it was to small and he would never join us?

tony gale's mic Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 So it looks like we have Civilli, Fernandez and M'Bami on the radar. Plus I think Pogrebnyak is the new striker that Nicko is referrring to. Nicko said this transfer doesnt depend on any RSC sale.
Kelbo Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I think the striker is of a nationality who's first language is English
Majiball Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 We do need some flair and creativity, fernandez is quicker than Villa but not much better physhically I'm not convinced he's coming as he surely is going to be 4-5M and I can't see us spending that kind of money on one player unless we sell someone for good money. Oh and I've had enough of RSC he's a fantastic player but this is getting silly now has it been just over a week and now he comes out with I'm happy at Rovers it was lost in translation AGAIN!!! RSC your a nice bloke we had a great chat at Brockhall but please just make your bloody mind up. If your staying your staying we won't tolerate your fickle attitude towards our club much longer, a few more I want to go's next year and the crowd will turn. Acctually RSC heres a thought sack your agent he not advising you very well. Zurab on his way, pity I have always liked him even if the league seems to have gotten a bit too much for him he'd still fantastic back-up to have. But if it means we can spend elsewhere then fine but we will need to replace him. 6 players covering 4 places does not leave much room for errors/injuries. And where o where will Emo play now????? In the middle in a 3 hopefully!!!
LeChuck Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 It's not, I'm fairly sure we'd have to sell RSC before we bought him. Nicko said this transfer doesnt depend on any RSC sale. Agreed. I think it will be more a winger/striker type than a target man. If Roque goes then we can bring in a suitable replacement, until then I think we'll be bringing in players that can complement him. Also...I sincerely doubt Coyle tried to sign Pogrebnyak, they wouldn't be able to get near his required wages.
thenodrog Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Somebody mentioned the other day about Sam looking for a smaller squad but those in it being more versatile. Seems whoever it was might be correct. Can't say i've ever seen this Civelli play, but he sounds like he has a bit about him. At 6'4" its another clear signal of our intent. Not gonna be pretty is it!! You'll not be suprised to find out it was me patrick. btw you don't need to be 6ft 4 to lump it forwards from defence.
joey_big_nose Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 It's not, I'm fairly sure we'd have to sell RSC before we bought him. Nicko said this transfer doesnt depend on any RSC sale. Why would we have to do that? His contract expires this summer....
LeChuck Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Why would we have to do that? His contract expires this summer.... Big, big wages though, especially if he's a Bosman. We couldn't have both him and Roque on the books when they're very similar players.
benhben Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Plus I think Pogrebnyak is the new striker that Nicko is referrring to. The omens are good. Rovers have signed him on my football manager game. Bangs them in.
RibbleValleyRover Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 The omens are good. Rovers have signed him on my football manager game. Bangs them in. Rovers have signed him on a few of my saves and he's an absolute beast. The Ukranian, Artem Milevskiy is a similar type of player. If we do sell Roque i hope we take a look at Pogrebnyak, i'd rather have him then Crouch and he should be cheaper.
roversmad95 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I think the striker is of a nationality who's first language is English not the aussie guy?
