begresko Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I thought the general idea of Sam's 4-3-3 so far was that it 'rocked'. One full on striker with two attacking wide men, one of which joined him in the attack when the ball was in the opposing half. Therefore we always had 2 strikers and an attacking mid taking the ball. Wow. What a confusing post. That style would be perfectly complemented to a player like Lovenkrads. Please lets not sign him though.

LeChuck Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Did I read somewhere that Givet's daughter is ill or something? I'm sure I did. That would explain why if so.
alexanders Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I've read it somewhere too, so that might be it. I think his baby daughter was ill and in the hospital.
modes98 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Indeed she is. He couldn't attend the awards due to being at the hospital I believe. I would think JW is just waiting until its all sorted before forcing Givet to sign the contract.
budha Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 how can we sign people before the window opens? The window is for registrations. Contracts can be done and signed whenever.
sparky12 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I've read it somewhere too, so that might be it. I think his baby daughter was ill and in the hospital. ahh that explains why on sunday at the lap of honor he was getting a bit worried and was looking towords the touchline wondering where his Child / children where :/ he looked fairly upset actually
Claytons Left Boot Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I think United will get rid of a few after last night's result. How about a £5m bid for Giggs and Scholes?
LeChuck Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I think United will get rid of a few after last night's result. How about a £5m bid for Giggs and Scholes? £5 million for a 35 year old and a 34 year old? I'm hoping I've missed the sarcasm in the post somewhere.
Amo Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 OUT - Brown - GK Fielding - GK Ooijer - RB/CB Zurab - CB Simpson - RB Mokoena - CM Tugay - CM Treacy - LM Carlos - AM Santa Cruz (?) - ST Derbyshire - ST Gallagher - ST This will leave the squad as follows - GK - Robinson Bunn *New Keeper (Youth team promotion?) RB - Emerton *Seitaridis? LB - Warnock Givet Olsson CB - Samba Nelsen Givet Gunning RM - Diouf Doran Judge LM - Pedersen * New signing? CM - Reid Dunn Grella * D'Alessandro? * M'bami? Andrews ST - McCarthy Roberts * Mystery man? * RSC's replacement?
TimmyJimmy Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 This is the most exciting transfer window for a long time, and it's not even open yet. Givet, Civelli, M'Bami - yes please. We can get these without doing serious damage to the bank balance - although the wages bill will get a bit bent. I like the RSC noises - might be that no one wants to take a risk on his knee and he's working himself back into the fold. Think about it though, if he wasn't ours already and we were linked to buying him then I for one would be ruddy well excited especially if we paid a knock down price because of his medical issues. This is pretty much where we are with him anyway as his transfer fee is sunk cost, just his wages to support. Benny can go for me, not that I don't like him it's just that we can do better. Nicko holds out the promise of a star striker who can replace him - Jason in the wings, injured mid field players coming back, the aforementioned marsaille crew. The futures bright, the futures Sam.
Gally Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I thought that they would be quality signings when we were being linked with them under Sparky a couple of years ago, but now I don't think it would be a step forward. Their wages would be astronomical when we are trying to get the wage bill down, and I definately wouldn't entertain paying a fee for them. Scholes and Giggs that is

gazsimm Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 according to reports Liverpool may be letting go of Ryan Babel in the summer, he would be a great signing for us, but could be out of our price range!!, he would improve the team greatly with his speed and skill and he also pops up with some vital goals. Also i see Sidwell at Villa has struggle to cement a place in their starting 11, he could be a great replacement for Tuggs, but i think that depends if Barry departs or not!!!
ScottishRover Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Maybe Cruz has said he is happy to stay becasue Sam has had a word about where he wants to see Rovers next season, fighting for europe presumably. Also with these possible signings it sure looks like we are aiming that way.

Yeah i noticed Sidwell coming on for Villa against the barcodes. We could do a lot worse.

Also with these possible signings it sure looks like we are aiming that way. i think Cruz is just using us, and is now frightend that a big so called team won't come in for him. As soon as a bid comes in for him and Rovers accept it, he will be off like a flash!!

Scholes and Giggs that is Looked like yesterdays men last night. Although I dare say Scholes could play in a Tugay like role if pushed. Would we want a nasty @#/? like him though. All this bull about he can't tackle, he knows exactly what he's doing, he's just a spiteful player. He should have been sent off last night but the official was very lenient. No way would I pay a fee for either.

patrickvalery Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Or maybe the penny has dropped that he isn't going to get his big move because of this season's injuries. I hate to say it now but the more I think about it, the more I want him to stay. If we could get him a partner to work with then maybe we (myself included) should put aside the bitterness of his alleged statements in the last year or so. For the good of the club. Na. He's burnt his bridges if you ask me. I'd have more respect for the guy if he had said he wanted out and stuck to his guns. Just a spineless little so and so.
Gally Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I think Roque realises that it's very possible that he won't get better than Rovers next year. I doubt any top 4 club will want him, City might not want to part with £20 million, and the same with Spurs. After that, who else is left? and I'm sure he likes it at Rovers when it's all said and done, he'd just like a crack at a "bigger" club.
Torgeir Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Did I read somewhere that Givet's daughter is ill or something? I'm sure I did. That would explain why if so. I think you're confusing him with Sebastien Perez
67splitscreen Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 As it's silly season, and Sam did bring Anelka to Bolton. How about a wishful stab at David Trezeguet. Juventus to sell in the summer if the price is rite. He is available but out of our league for sure.
patrickvalery Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 You mean like Benni did? I'd have sold him too. Lets be completely honest he has hardly set the world alight since has he?

Not one you'd want to take to the Turf. Having said that would you want to take Benni there ?
