anyone linked with Burnley aint going to be a world beater. Take the "Burnley link" out of the equation then it may well be interesting.

Nicko never said Burnley were linked to signing him. He said Coyle was linked to signing him, having said that, Coyle has only manager Falkirk and St. Johnstone, although if it was when he was manager at either of those teams, it gives the player in question time to mature and develop as a footballer...

Scott Sinclair fits everything if nicko considers him to be better than those two.

I'd be delighted if it was, he's a massive talent with a lot things we lack...notably pace and skill. He's very rough around the edges but so was Bentley when he arrived, and I think Sinclair has more natural ability of the two.

He normally looks good when i've seen him.

Ben Sahar could also be a possibility?

If we get this Civelli our defense seems pretty good. And Robbo did very well second part of the season. M`Bami could easily go ahead of Grella and there still Reid and Andrews. Maybe Warnock and Emo too if they don´t play full back roles. It leaves one major problem. Scoring. MGP and EHD are PL level wingers but atleast another wing needs improvement. Pace and creativity. And what about strikers? Hopefully Nicko´s mystery turns to be something great. We´d still need a cover for Roque. Maybe we will start season with just three strikers Roberts being the third. Diouf and Samba can play up if must. Not too much wingers rumoured by the way..

£5 million for a 35 year old and a 34 year old? I'm hoping I've missed the sarcasm in the post somewhere.

Very good, you replaced it with the sarcasm in yours.

Ok, £5m is on the high side. Initially I thought Scholes was a couple of years younger, so £3m would be nearer the mark.

Scholes and Giggs are:-

(1) Infinitely better than what we've got now. When I say infinitely, I mean light years.

(2) Affordable fee wise. If their wage demands were to prove to be too high, look elsewhere.

(3) Proven. They've got the t-shirts as well as the medals.

(4) Local.

(5) Fit for their years. Should get 2 years service for each.

(6) They fit the Allardyce 'towards the end of their career' mould.

The only downside I can see is a lack of resale value and could/would Rovers afford to lay out £9m over two years for them both inclusive of wages. Grella and Morten (The Useless) against Scholes and Giggs? We've stumped up £4m for Grella, must be paying him £20k per week and what would we get for him now if we tried to sell? Ditto Morten.

When you are a Blackburn Rovers you don't buy young and proven, it's all about risk.

Giggs and Scholes?? do people actually believe that Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are going to move from Man Utd to Blackburn? seriously? Its got nothing to do with finances its the fact that they'd never leave united and if they did it certainly wouldnt be to us. I dont know why i even wrote that, its so screamingly obvious.

Better than Tugay never.

See that branch you're sitting on Al, stop sawing at it will you. ;)

Alexander had a far better season than Tugay...there isn't even an argument. One was the main man, the other being given cameo appearances. One won promotion, the other got phased out.

I'm not talking career comparisons here, just what happened the season gone by.

Why would Scholes and Giggs want to finish there careers with Rovers, both guys will want to retire at Man Utd. Giggs only has 1 more season in him, dont think Scholes will last much longer

Dont laugh, but Scholes has stated he wants to finish his career at Oldham Athletic, his home town club!!

And you're talking different divisions.

Tugay's range of passing and class would have been brilliant in the Championship, but with the quality of CMs he was up against in the Premier League (arguably the League's best asset) he was always going to struggle this season.

If Ferguson wants to keep United at the top, these two (amongst others) will have to move on.

As obvious as Sam getting Anelka to sign for Bolton prior to moving on to bigger and better things at Chelsea. Who would have thought it?

If they did leave United, by the way, who would they go to? Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool...............?

Still, if you prefer Morten and Grella, that's up to you.

Nicko's argument is flawed here, its like me saying my 5 a side team got promoted so i had a better season than robin Van Persie.

(Ps I don't actually play in a 5 a side team :P)

In that context, a young midfielder in the Vodkat Leage with 20 odd goals and a promotion to boot, would in that case be better than Alexander????

Come on Nicko, you disappoint me, different levels surely, likewise, Joe Garner had scored more goals for Carlisle (14) before Christmas last year and then got a cruciate, better than Thompson or Patterson, struggled a bit in the championship with Forest!!

Finally, Gallagher is scoring regularly on loan at Plymouth in a struggling side but didntdo the same at Rovers!!

see what I mean, and surely you aint telling us that Matt Derbyshire, a 'fringe player' under 21 international with goals wherever he plays is not good enough to get in the Burnley side??

Maybe Burnley should get in the Greek League and Challenge Olympiakos for a place iEurope every season :rover::rolleyes:

PS. I just showed this post to an ex top pro and an 'A' License coach, at the moment I think he's having a double hernia and cant believe a sports journalist could write such drivel, then nodded and said, well, yes I can
